2. JENIFER

CHAPTER 2 JENIFER I had completely made a fool out of myself in front of Damian. Who in her right mind immediately assumes the worst of her new hot neighbor? If only I could take it all back and rewrite all that happened yesterday. Turning, tossing and cussing myself had been the only thing I had been doing since I got in bed almost five hours ago. Giving up, I slid off my bed and made my way downstairs, the deathly silence of the house greeting me. The sound of my flip flops filled the house. Pushing the fridge open, I grabbed a bottle of drinking water, leaning against the kitchen counter. The wall clock ticking away on the wall, captured my attention and to my utter dismay it was only fifteen minutes past one in the morning and there was no ounce of sleep. After draining the bottle, I retreated my steps back to my room, posing my body on one of the two windows in my room facing the streets, watching the empty streets of Peaches Town. For a while it remained empty but then a figure caught my eye. He stopped walking and as if he knew I was looking, Damian’s gaze pierced through the window panes, right into mine. What was he doing walking around at this time of the night?   “Jennifer,” His voice was barely a whisper caressing my ears.   Did I just imagine he said my name? Cussing myself for my overly imaginative mind, I stepped off the window. I thought I caught a smirk gleaming over his perfect face as I drew the curtains. What the hell was happening to me? I could not possibly be fantasizing over my sizzling hot neighbor. He was way over my standard and besides he would clearly never think of me as anything more than just a neighbor. With that last thought in mind, sleep managed to overcome me.   The following morning, I was woken up by Chloe’s annoying tapping on my shoulder. I grunted, annoyed at the disruption of my sleep.   “There better be a good reason for you waking me up Chloe,” I snapped, opening my eyes.   “Don’t worry, it’s not like Mrs. Ballard will be upset that you went to work late,” Chloe rolled her eyes, prancing out of my room.   Mrs. Ballard? Work? Crap! I scrambled off my bed, my gaze darting off to the time on my phone. It was six-forty five, which meant I only had fifteen minutes to get ready and still get to work on time. I stripped off my clothes rushing off to the bathroom with my towel in hand. Three minutes later I was out, rushing back to my room. I locked the door, proceeding to get rid of the towel when I spotted my bedroom’s second window that unfortunately faced my neighbor’s house was open. And he was standing by the window in the room opposite, shirtless, his deliciously toned abs bared to the morning chills. That was not what made my mouth go dry however, it was the fact that he was staring at me as though I was the most considerably attractive thing in the entire world.   “Don’t close the window. I want to watch you undress,” His lips never moved but his voice had been clear in my mind.   Was I going crazy? Why do I keep hearing his voice in my mind? Shaking my thoughts clear, I drew the curtains and proceeded to get ready for work. A pair dark jeans, a caramel shirt and a black jumper later and I was ready to run off to work. When I got downstairs, Chloe had already prepared breakfast, sipping her coffee. Then on seeing me, she burst into a fit of laughter, almost burning herself with hot coffee.   “What?” I asked.   “Your hair is a total disarray,” She threw her head back, clearly enjoying my messed up state.   “I’m glad you find all this amusing Chloe,” I retorted. Glancing at my watch, I realized I only had seven minutes. Well, I could deal with my messed up hair later.   I rushed outside, my boots hurrying against the gravelly sidewalk. I was barely paces away from my house, when a car honked as it slowed near me. Surprised, I stopped to look at the owner and I almost gasped back in surprise when Damian’s sapphire blue eyes looked back at me.   “I’m assuming you could use a ride?” His smirk was strangely warm and refreshing.
