AT THE DEVIL'S MERCIES, my only love contract

AT ANNA'S PLACE . Anna is seated on her bed and Mr . Ronald Hartley talking to her standing by the door with his right leg in and his arms crossed over his chest . Its one of those father-daughter bonding moments , no better time, Anna is about to leave for her bachelorette party being hosted by her future in-laws at their house and this is the last Ronald will see her until the wedding .He does not hide how he feels about the whole "wedding situation", he lifts his gaze that had been fixated on the wooden floor half of their conversation and stares straight into Anna's eyes then begins to speak .... Mr.Hartely : (with an almost begging tone , slow ,calm and clear)... You know you do not have to do this right ? You do not have to marry your best friend whoyou do not love .(Anna interupts with a colder tone ) Anna : ...says who? I love Simon with all have and nothing you will say will change my mind. Mr.Hartely : ... you are young and i am justtrying to protect you. (Anna stands up and continues packing her bags )You would not know love even if it hit you in the face . Anna : (snaps ,without stopping to look at her dad ) ....and i suppose you do huh ? The same way you knew what was happening between you and my mother was love yet you let go huh ?( after realising she was shouting Anna breathes in then turns to look at her dad who was out words to answer back at her , Mr .Hartley always went mute when it came to talking about Anna's mother) I am a grown woman dad . Look at me . I am raising Alex , my son alone . Why can't you just be happy for me and your grandson? Mr.Hartley : You have managed to raise Alex alone for seven years , you do not need to spoil your friendship with Simon by marrying him . Its not love Anna its friendship . Its not love (he stops talking seeing that Anna was already in tears and then he comes in to hug her and then continues ) ...I'm only trying to protect you . Anna : ... (as she pulls away to look into hsr dad's eyes) I am sorry about what i asked about mum but dad please let me make this mistake becuase for now i am madly in love with Simon so if it does not work in the future , please let me be the one to learn from the mistakes . Mr Hartley does not reply , he just pulls her closer and hugs Anna tighter . ~three hours later ~ AT SIMON'S HOUSE, Simon's mum,Mrs Carter : (as Anna stepped into their house with her dad behind her ) ... Anna welcome (hugs Anna) , and Mr.Hartley (hugs him too) please come in (gestures her right hand that they proceed and adds ) please make yourself at home , Simon went to the airport to welcome my best friend and her son . They are here from Statin Island, i invited them to the wedding . I know Anna wanted to keep it small
