The Escape
His name was Nissan, and he was from a remote area. He never knew his parents , but one thing he did know was that the orphanage home made him get so determined to find them. Day and night MRS Duchess would inflict painful words on him “go find your parents and leave us alone, they’re not dead”.
“But how”? He wondered. He had grown up to learn the fact that any kid raised in an orphanage had no parents, so what could Mrs. Duchess mean. Nissan was 8 yrs old already.
“Kids, It’s time for dinner !” Barked lady Mary the assistant chef of the “Kids Orphanage home”. Then a hard knock landed on his head, the bullies were here again, James and John. “As usual, you Nissan kid. Half of your food or your left hand gets broken” John said amidst the laughters and mockery on the young lad. These kids were terror on their own. 12 and 13 respectively and probably the oldest there in the orphanage, no parent would want to adopt them. They were rude and unbearable.
“Please take the whole food “ said Nissan fearfully, his life was better and more precious than a morsel of food. He went to a corner of the large house to stay on his own .
They’d all been sent out of the bed
rooms where their beds were placed on bunks, they were not to enter there till late in the evening when they were preparing for bedtime. It would save a lot of trouble because the bullies wouldn’t rest until they’d inflicted injuries on any suspected enemy.
But John loved to eat. And when Nissan had handed the plate of food to him, he had left James and his other two friends unnoticed to a corner to do justice to it.
There was a little school also established within the premises of the Orphanage home .
But it was a week-end so the kid’s weren’t literally occupied with any activity.
“Now stop the noise and go back to your bedrooms, wash yourselves, dress up and dress your beds, an inspector is visiting!” Said Mrs. Duchess .
It was amidst the commotion that James remembered the food which they’d collected from Nissan. But John was missing,
“John!” He cursed under his breath.
Yes there was a fight. “You moron, you left nothing for me !!”.
“Why should I?, when you’ve been talking all day”
“Cut it kids! Lady Mary shouted, she twisted their ears and they both screamed.

James had taken enough, he’d been enduring this whole stuff for a while and it was time to teach John a memorable lesson. The big bunks were arranged neatly in rows and columns depending on the position of the viewer. Nissan had just finished dressing his bed. He turned to leave, and then……
There was a splash on his bed. “Oh no” he cursed under his breath, the two naughty boys were at it again, James poured a half a bucket of water on John, but the latter had sensed the quick movement of the earlier and then had shifted as quickly as possible. The result was the water heading for poor Nissan’s bed. Just then Mrs Duchess came in. John began crying (as old as he was) explaining to the old lady that it was all Nissan’s fault.
James added that Nissan had been behaving strangely since the previous day, that’s why he had wet his own bed.
What a shock!
Even Nissan was so confused.
“No one would ever adopt you like I’ve always said !!” Barked Mrs duchess to Poor Nissan. “Go find your parents and leave us alone.”

He was running to an unknown place.
It was his first time outside the orphanage home, Nissan didn’t know anywhere but he had already told himself that he couldn’t stay in the orphanage home any longer. Obviously he wasn’t needed. And even if he died, not even Mrs Duchess would shed a tear. He remembered the two crafty boys, James and John. It had all happened in the afternoon and it was still a fresh incident. Why were humans so different and annoying? He asked himself.
He wished he was older, he would have dealt with them. But what could he do, so helpless and skinny.
it was dark and the night time had gone far.
Some minutes past 10pm and then he was still running. He slowed down realizing that no one would even care to look for him.
Mrs Duchess would even laugh and happily clear up his bed to welcome yet another unfortunate child.
They were all asleep when he left.
He had seen the old lady bolting the back door. And leaving the key at the window side for whichever worker who would come first to the room the next day.
As soon as everyone had settled down, he got to action.
She was snoring loudly By then, Though her room close by, had its door half open for her to be alert when the naughty ones disturb.
He was in front of the gate; the only entrance and exit.
It was a do or die affair. He quietly unbolted and ran off.
“Who’s that!!” Shouted a careless Mr. Tom. He had heard noises.
But the sleep Was tempting, “one of these nasty animals are playing pranks again “ he thought, bolting the gate he went back to sleep.
