Holding back the tears streaming out of her eyes, Venessa kept strolling her wheelchair through the main road without giving any s**t to the vehicles.
She heard the drivers scream at her and a few abuses but she cared none, all her brain remembered is the humiliation she has faced, there is nothing other than humiliation in her life.
Right from the time she ended up in the wheelchair, she saw the true faces of people. After all the humiliation she has been heartbroken and now when people treated her as no one and unworthy just because she lacks her legs, she couldn’t stand it.
Venessa ignored the screams and crossed the road and she stumbled upon a man, who is crossing the road and he fell on his back.
“Are you f*****g blind?” Venessa who has absolutely no idea about the media following her for a gripping story to publish in their cover story shouted at the man.
“To the hell woman, I am the one who is supposed to ask the question” he raised from his place and pulled back the hoodie dusting away the sand from his clothes.
“How dare you scream at me,” Venessa who is immensely disturbed by everything by then, screamed at him irritated.
“Hello woman, you have pushed me down, you have caused all these ruckuses and even without apologizing for your mistake, you are screaming at me, how dare you?” he yelled at her.
“You should be careful, I am on wheels” Venessa tried defending herself once she saw all the mess she has created, she had no option except to run away from there.
“So what?” he said casually.
“What did you just say?” Venessa screamed at him.
“I said so what. I thought you just can’t see but only now did I realize that you even have a problem with your ears” he mocked her.
“Did you just mock me? How could be so insensitive towards a disabled person?” Venessa screamed tears daring to form in her eyes.
“Disabled…umm what’s that?” he quizzed.
“You are calling me blind, but guess what if there is anyone blind here that’s you who is mocking me even when you can clearly see my a*s stuck to the wheelchair” she screamed at the man.
Venessa couldn’t care less, she’s like that since she knew. She can’t stand it if someone belittles her.
“Look woman, you have crossed the road, dressed up well and using a highly advanced wheelchair and picking a fight with a random stranger, so this means you have money, knowledge to talk, patience to fight, and a fat a*s ego. The biggest disability is not your a*s sticking to the seat it’s your ego that’s blinding you” he screamed at her.
Venessa looked at him wide agape.
“How dare you…”
He cut her off by placing a finger on her lips.
“Shhh… it’s not sitting with your ego right? That a random stranger is schooling you? Look the only disability one has is limiting themselves, ego, and pride. So exception of that none of what you show as disability is really one,” he explained with his finger shutting her lips.
Venessa couldn’t believe what he just said. She has never encountered a person who doesn’t try picturing her as unworthy of the things she dreams.
Venessa found it shocking that there’s this one fully grown-up man who is saying that the visible disability is not any disability and is treating her pretty regularly. Not with the unwanted pity.
But something that didn’t go well with her, is he calling her egoistic. Yes, she is egoistic, but she can’t stand it if someone calls that on her face.
She wanted to prove him wrong, she want to prove her belief that humanity is dead right for one more time.
“Ohh nice Mister, so umm…” she observed his hands.
His fingers were empty without any ring.
“So now that I don’t have any disability, what about coming on a date with me?” Venessa quizzed him.
“What?” he spit the water out hearing her.
“See, now you can clearly see my disability” Venessa let out a winning grin.
“What? Will you just stop with your assumptions woman? It’s not about your disability or other. It’s just how am I supposed to go on a date with a random stranger?” he put the valid point.
“Ohh yeah, so let me take the pleasure of introducing myself. I am Venessa Harper, CEO of the TROW groups” she raised her hand.
He gave a small smile extending his hand and when he was about to open his mouth, Venessa cut him.
“Well, I am neither interested in knowing who the hell you are or whatever. I just want to see whether you won’t see my disability even after this and guess what I am right. No one would want a person like me, no matter how we are, what our talent is, all it speaks is our disability,” Venessa screamed in hurt as she lost everything due to that.
“Well Venessa you don’t just have the disability of arrogance and ego, you have one more” he smiled bending to reach her.
“Overthinking darling, you do that quite a lot. First of all, you have asked a random stranger out on a date, second you didn’t give him time to think or even think whether he would be single or any relationship”
“You don’t have rings on your fingers” Venessa defended her stance.
“Let me complete darling. If not married can’t he be in any sort of relationship? Okay leave that too, you have asked for a date just to prove that no one would be interested to date a disabled one. So deep down you have striked down all the possibilities of a guy dating you all by yourself. So it’s you who rejected yourself in the first place Venessa, not others. You have disqualified yourself” He spoke the facts, she couldn’t digest down her throat.
“You…” she pointed a finger at him, but couldn’t speak a word more. Deep down she accepted the truth that she is a little less than any other, she hates when people show pity and for the first time someone is locking horns and putting her in place, she couldn’t digest that.
