Chapter 11

1283 Words
Two days. That's how long Li Han had avoided the twins successfully, although, yesterday the twins tried contacting him but he avoided them. He felt quietly proud of himself for managing to dodge two such clingy, persistent alphas, even though deep down he knew the peace wouldn’t last long. And today proved him right. Li Han was sitting quietly in his usual corner, nose buried in a book, when suddenly chaos erupted around him. Shouts, hurried footsteps, and a wave of anxious whispers filled the hallways. Confused, he closed his book and stepped outside to see what was happening. Groups of students clustered together, murmuring in low, urgent voices. He caught fragments of the conversation without even trying .“…heard that an omega suddenly went into heat and didn’t have any suppressants…” “…and the twins were mysteriously on their way here—” Li Han pieced it together quickly. That explained why everyone in the usually calm South wing was so on edge. The twins normally stayed in the East building but Li Han already knew what they were doing in the South Wing. The whispers continued. “…they caught the scent of the heat, but only one of the twins was affected and went into rut. They got everything under control somehow, and the other twin was sent to the clinic be—” Li Han quietly removed himself from the gossip. Omega and alpha matters were always messy, complicated, and far too volatile for a beta like him to get involved in even though it involved his two friends. He turned away, heading back toward his classroom to continue studying in peace. He didn’t make it far. A strong hand suddenly grabbed his wrist, yanking him to a stop. Li Han looked up to see Yo Sun’s tense face. He immediately guessed the situation: Yo Han must be the one in rut. “Where are you dragging me to?” Li Han asked, though he already had a fairly good idea. “Keep quiet, Fu Fu. We’ve given you so much space, but there’s only so much patience left in us. My brother desperately needs you right now.” Yo Sun didn’t elaborate. He just pulled Li Han along through the corridors toward the clinic. When they arrived, the small room was empty except for Yo Han. The alpha’s pheromones saturated the entire space—so thick and heavy they stung even a beta’s nose. If Li Han had been an omega, he would have collapsed to the floor in an instant, heat triggered instantly. But as a beta, the scent was intense and uncomfortable, nothing more. Yo Han sat on the edge of the bed, eyes glazed and dark with lust. His breathing came in deep, controlled pulls as he fought to keep himself in check. He looked like he was seconds away from lunging at the oblivious beta standing in the doorway. “Help me watch over him,” Yo Sun said quickly. “I’m going to get his suppressants. Just make sure he doesn’t do anything stupid.” He leaned in and pressed a light kiss to Li Han’s cheek before turning to leave. Halfway to the door, he paused, shot a sharp glare at his brother, and growled, “Behave, and remember you promised not to do anything.” Then he was gone.Li Han stood frozen, trying to process everything. He had always seen the twins as childish—playful, annoying, almost puppy-like in their clinginess. The idea of them experiencing full-blown ruts had never crossed his mind. He sighed quietly, suddenly realizing they weren’t little kids anymore. They were grown alphas, and biology didn’t care about how he viewed them. Unbeknownst to the beta, Yo Han had been watching him the entire time, amusement flickering behind the haze of rut. His voice came low and rough. “Come.” The single word jolted Li Han out of his thoughts. He didn’t want to obey the brooding alpha, but the command in that tone left little room for refusal. Slowly, reluctantly, he walked to Yo Han’s side. Without warning, the alpha gripped Li Han’s waist and spun him around so his back faced Yo Han. Li Han stood stiffly, confused but still. Then he felt the bed shift as Yo Han stood up behind him. Something warm and wet brushed against the side of his neck—a slow, deliberate lick. The twins had always given him open-mouthed kisses on the cheeks, leaving little traces of saliva behind, but this was different. This was too intimate, too invasive. Li Han opened his mouth to protest, but before the words could come out, Yo Han’s voice—deeper, more mature than he had ever heard it—murmured right against his skin, followed by a tender kiss. “You smell soooo good.”Yo Han moaned softly, the sound vibrating through Li Han’s neck. The beta froze, speechless. Then he heard the unmistakable sound of a zipper being pulled down. He chose to ignore it, pretending it was just his imagination. “Stop it, you asshole.” Yo Sun’s sharp voice cut through the tension like a blade. Li Han turned his head to see Yo Sun standing in the doorway, holding a small box of suppressants.“He would hate you if you did this. Do you want to be hated? If not, then come take your medicine.” Yo Han stared at his brother for a long moment. Then, slowly, the haze in his eyes cleared just enough. He released Li Han’s waist and stepped back. The oblivious beta did not know he was about to be claimed and mated or in other words f****d and marked by Yo Han who decided it was not worth Li Han's hate to have him so he went with the better option and took his suppressants, Yo Sun escorted his brother to the car not before waving their confused husband, good bye. The rest of the week passed quietly. The twins didn’t show up to school at all. Li Han told himself he didn’t notice—after all, he had been avoiding them anyway—but the truth was, avoiding them had suddenly become much easier. Or perhaps it was simply because they weren’t around anymore. It was Friday when Li Han received a message that Teacher Fu wanted to see him. He frowned. He never caused trouble, so why was he being called to a teacher’s office for the second time this week? And why a teacher from the East building, of all places? The walk to the East wing felt longer than usual. As he trudged along, he couldn’t help but feel a tiny pang of pity for the twins—they had made this journey countless times just to reach him. He shrugged the thought away and stepped into Teacher Fu’s office. He bowed politely. “Am I in trouble, Teacher?” Teacher Fu laughed warmly. “No, no, you’re not in trouble at all. I just wanted to ask if you know the Ji twins.” Li Han nodded slowly.“Ah, good. And you probably know where they live. I’ve been trying to contact them through email and their parents’ numbers, but nothing’s going through. I’d really appreciate it if you could deliver these books to them. It’s important—they’re review materials for next week’s exam.” Li Han nodded in understanding and accepted the stack of heavy textbooks. Teacher Fu thanked him profusely. Li Han sighed quietly as he left the office, already dreading the long journey back to the South wing with the extra weight in his arms.
