"Sir, it's getting late and the madame asked to see you at home now"
"I'm not ready to go yet, tell her to go to bed, I will see her later."
"But sir, she said it's very urgent that she won't sleep if you don't show up."
"Ok Gray, I hear you, tell her I'll be home soon."
"Ok sir."
Gray left the office.
"Ah this woman, I'm sure it's another blind date she wants to talk about, another beau-ti-ful daughter of a wealthy tycoon. Who cares! Do I have to get married? Women are just a waste of money and time, acting like chicks everywhere. I don't have the time for any roman…"
I had to stop my ranting because my secretary, who came to pack my bags, saw me talking to myself. The way she's looking at me tells me she's been there the whole time and she heard every silly thing I said. It's so embarrassing, how do I get away from this?. No one has ever seen this side of me. Dear Lord. I bet she's gonna tell anybody who wish to listen.
"Why are you standing there like an inanimate object!" I had to put my war face on.
But it didn't work cause she just stood there giggling like a little girl who just saw a room full of candy.
"Ah, I'm doomed."
"Karen!"
I had to shout her name before she could come out of her trance.
And mother wants me to get married, uh, never! With these kinds of women around? No!
She hurried to pack my bags and we left the office.
At Browns' Penthouse
Perched high above the city, the lavish penthouse epitomized extravagance with its gleaming white marble floors, floor-to-ceiling windows that framed the sparkling skyline, and plush velvet furnishings in shades of deep amethyst and gold.
Entering the great room, I saw my cousin, David watching a series, with the sound blaring across the room. He has a room for heaven's sake!.
I continued my journey like I didn't see anything, until his voice stopped me.
"Hey beautiful cousin. Ignoring me?"
"I don't have time for your craps tonight, you are an adult. And by the way, I didn't see you at work today."
"Oh, work, I had a friend's party to attend today, sorry for not letting you know."
If looks could kill, I bet he would be dead by now.
"Hey, don't give me that face, boy's got to enjoy himself. Ease yourself up, you are too cold, you are dropping the temperature by the second." He said as he placed his hands on my shoulders.
I shook his hands off violently and said with an icy tone that made him flinch. "If you want to enjoy yourself, stop coming to work."
I went straight to mother's room, burning with fury at the nonsense of her son. I saw her sitting on her bed, in her nightware with a book in her hand.
"Welcome son, hope your day wasn't stressful. The nanny prepared your meal already."
My anger dissipated immediately, can't this stupid boy just be like his mom. Look at her, loving and caring for someone else's child. She has been the one taking care of me ever since the death of my parents. She never made me miss them, not for once. Her son has just chosen to be a pain in the butt.
"I'm okay mother, I am not hungry, I ate before coming home."
She furrowed her brows. "I have told you countless times not to call me mother, call me mom instead." She drew me closer and placed my head on her shoulders. "You are like a son to me, I love you like my own baby, don't make me feel like a stranger."
I was moved to tears, do people like this still exist? I'm sure my parents will be happy wherever they are.
"Ok mom, I'm sorry."
"Now that's better." She gave me a kiss on the forehead.
"I made your Assistant bring you home early, because I know if I don't, you are gonna stay in that office till midnight and I won't like it. Learn to balance these things, your health and wellness comes first. Okay." She said with the sweetest smile ever.
I will forever be indebted to this woman.
When it comes to this woman I can be a cry baby but to the world, I'm a cold billionaire. She's my dad's one and only younger sister and I knew her since I was little. She would always come to our house, play with me and buy things for me. Though she and my dad never got along well, they would argue about things and raise their voices at each other. It's just sibling rivalry, nobody paid attention to it. She is quite close with my mom. They will go shopping together and talk about men. They never spoke about business…cause they had no business. Well my mom didn't need to work cause we already have the money that could last us for a lifetime and she also, is engaged to the scion of a wealthy family so there was no need working.
"Good night mom."
"Good night sweetheart."
I left her room and went to mine immediately. I'm so exhausted.
I took a shower and landed on my bed. It didn't even take ten minutes before I started hearing sounds. With this kind of sound, I'm dead sure it's coming from David's room. His room is next to mine.
This boy won't just stop bringing women to the house. Now what's the meaning of this s**t? This boy is enjoying because of his mom. I would have locked him out a long time ago.
I couldn't help but roll from one side of the bed to the other. What's he even doing to the girl for her noise to be this much? I had to cover my ears with the pillow as the sound of their moans filled my ears.
Oh this boy is gonna get it from me. This is the last time he will be using his manhood in this house.
Sleep is even far from me right now. I went out of my room to get some fruits in the kitchen cause I'm feeling hungry already from rolling on the bed.
I met the nanny in the kitchen, she was already cleaning it, ready to call it a day.
"Hello, nanny Jade." I smiled at her.
"Stop calling me nanny, you are a grown ass man."
"Pardon me, I'm just used to it. I will change."
The expression on her face got me worried. Her face always bore this kind of sad and concerned expression when she's looking at me. I never bothered to ask. Maybe with time, I'll understand.
"I can quickly make you something if you want. I threw the one I made earlier out."
"You don't have to nanny Jade…oh sorry Mrs Jade, I will just take some apples."
"Okay boy, be careful."
I took some apples in the tray and went to my study room. Since I can't sleep, I should be able to go through some files.
I woke up to the sound of my alarm blaring at 5:00am. I stood up to get ready for work. That's how I live. From work to my room and if I can't sleep, I go to my study room and then back to work. People say it's boring, that's how I like it.
I got ready for work that day, bid mother goodbye and left in my black maserati. Well I made sure David followed behind me in his own car to work this morning. It's payback for what he did to me last night. What pained me is that I didn't see the girl, I would have given her a piece of my mind.
