Chapter3

The Royals' Hotel

The next morning I got ready for work after my early morning routine. I can't even trust Zoey with anything around the house. Now that I'm working, can't she just help me.

"Bye grandma! I'm off to work!"

I screamed from the living room.

"Goodbye baby girl, enjoy your day."

Her voice didn't sound good to me but I had to leave, I'm late already.

Everyone was already at the office attending to their work. I guess I'm late. The way they are looking at me says it all.

Am I in trouble?

I went to my desk since no one was saying anything.

"What's with the noise outside." Amy said. One of my workmates. I'm getting to know their names. She's the lousiest amongst us.

We heard some screaming and we decided to go check it out.

"So what's with the noise?" I asked Amy cause I didn't see anything.

"The boss is here!"

She literally shouted into my ears.

"You mean Mr David?"

"No, the real boss. He is coming in this direction. I guess he wants to see Mr David."

"So what's with the giggling and screaming?"

"Are you not on planet earth. This man is a rare gem. Any lady will do anything to get him in her arms. If I just get to spend a night with him, I can die peacefully."

I shook my head at her. Well I'm not among the ladies that will throw themselves at a man. How handsome can he even be?

"I'm going back, I have important things to do with my time."

"He's here."

She dragged me back.

"We don't get to see him everytime. So I implore you grab the opportunity now."

"I don't care about this stuff. Let go of my hands Amy."

She didn't even answer me.

And there he shows up. Walking majestically, every stride commanding respect. The soul of his feet and the floor are in synchrony. No wonder these ladies are drooling over him. He's gorgeous as hell. We continued looking at him till he was out of sight.

"Did you see him. He looks like a work of art." She said dreamily.

"Wake up from your trance, Amy. Men like that can never be yours. So stop dreaming and face your reality."

"What do you mean by that! I will do whatever it takes to have him."

I regretted saying that, cause she flared up immediately.

"Who are you kidding. You can try all you want. Even if you seduce him, it won't work. Cause haven't you heard that he has never been with a woman before. 'Never'." Liam said. He's the newscaster amongst us. He knows the latest gist in the hotel. Only God knows how.

"Well then, I will be his first." Amy retorted.

"Who are you? Even billionaire daughters' have no chance at him, talk more of a woman from a mere background." Everyone laughed.

"Li-a-m!!! She threw a book at him. How dare you!"

"I'm sorry. I was just stating the fact. So you don't come back to us crying. You need to know the kind of man you are dealing with. It's for your sake, my friend."

"Enough with the talking, you guys should face your work." Noah the department head said.

After the day's work. We all packed our bags, ready to go home. The ladies hugged themselves, the guys shook hands and we all departed.

I was walking very slowly due to the ache in my stomach. Maybe because of the lunch I had. I'm not used to their food yet. Then a car parked in front of me. I was scared at first, I thought they wanted to harm me because of the way the car parked roughly.

I was surprised at who came out of the car. Mr David! What does he want?

"My lady, how was your first day at work?"

"It was awesome sir."

"Nice. Please drop the honorifics and call me by my name. Looking at it, we might just be agemates."

"Okay, if that's what you want. Pardon me, I need to get home quickly, I have someone to attend to."

"Okay then, let's go."

"What do you mean 'let's go'."

"Yeah, I wanna drop you off at home."

"Thanks but that won't be necessary."

"No problems. You're my girlfriend's sister so I should treat you well. That's what I promised Zoey. Now get in."

I got in and he drove off. He's a reckless driver.

Unbeknownst to them, a pair of eyes were watching them.

Phillips Brown

"Gotcha! So that's the woman David has been using to disturb my peace in the house. She even works here! That's a slap on my integrity. I won't let them have their way tonight."

"Who are you talking to sir?"

"None of your business Gray, let's go."

"Hmm sir, I got a call from the madame this evening. She said you have a blind date tomorrow at 3:00 pm. I have added it to your schedule for tomorrow."

"Okay."

"Okay? That's it? Just like that? No ranting, nothing?"

"What do you mean? I don't rant. I just don't like these women. You look at what happened at work today. I can't have a woman drool at me all the time."

"It's not their fault. You are just so handsome."

"It's now a problem that I'm handsome? I didn't create myself. Blame genetics, not me. I will go for whatever blind date but marriage is not gonna work. You know how we do it."

"Yes sir, scare them off like we've always been doing." We had a good laugh at that. It's funny how they run away.

I got to the house. Had my dinner and went to bed. I slept this time cause there was no noise from David's room, maybe he took her to the hotel. Silly boy. He's gonna get a lady pregnant just like how his mom had him out of wedlock.

Sophia Smith

At Smiths' Apartment

"Welcome Sophia. How was work today? And who was the guy that dropped you off? Told you, you'll find someone."

"Calm down, one question at a time. Work was great and that guy was David."

"What! Why did he drop you off? Is anything going on between you two already?"

"Why would anything go on between us? I just started working there, Zoey. He is just treating me nice because I'm your sister duh! Calm down."

"Better."

"Is the thing going on between you guys a serious thing? Are you sure he's serious with you?"

"Why are you asking? Did you see him with any woman at work?"

"I just don't like him for you. He's too playful. He plays and jokes around. He's never serious with work unlike the real boss. And if you two should get together, who's gonna help who? The two of you are the same. You need someone who is better than you."

"It's true but I don't care, as long as he has money. I don't need him to be serious."

"Okay whatever. How's grandma?"

"Oh yes, I took her to the hospital this afternoon. Her condition has worsened."

"What! And you're just telling me now! Zoey, what is wrong with you!"

"She's fine now, you don't have to worry. And besides, it was your second day at work, I didn't want to ruin it. It's not my fault."

Seriously, I can just squeeze her to death.

"Take me to the hospital. What are you even doing at home instead of you to be there with her."

"I have my own life to live so please, I don't have time to be babysitting an old woman."

"What did you just say? You are very much aware that if not for her we would be on the streets."

"Not with this kind of beauty Sophia, a rich family would have helped us."

"I still find it hard to believe that you're my sister. Tell me where the hospital is, if you don't wanna go."

"Let's go, who told you I don't wanna go. I'm not that bad."

When we got to the hospital, we checked on grandma and she was doing fine. We got to know from the doctor that she has cancer of the lungs and she will be placed on oxygen daily which we have to pay for daily as well and it's a huge amount. I don't think my salary can even handle that. This is too much for me to take. Ho can grandma have this disease now that I'm working. I want to give her good food not pay for her hospital bills. I cried my eyes out for a long time till tears were no longer coming. I stayed at the hospital with her while Zoey went back home.

The next morning, around 5:00am I went home to prepare for work. I prepared food for Zoey to take to grandma at the hospital and that's even if she goes. I left the house and head straight to the hotel. I called Zoey to make sure she takes the food to grandma cause I didn't meet her at home.
