Chapter 1: First encounter
Ivy’s P.O.V.
It was dark and gloomy but her aura is sweet and interesting, it was always in between, but the little sunshine is the only one keeping the balance in the chaotic duo of all time.
Life could be sometimes colorful like the rainbow, there are moments you would like to stop time and yourself to just enjoy and treasure the moment, but this kind of feeling is not for the rest of our lives. there are dark clouds that could cover the beautiful sky. The rain would come but the rainbow will shine after the rain. So why not let the raindrop until the rainbow shines? What the land says, it stinks whenever it gets wet through the rain, why does it stink tho? Maybe it indicates that it was hurting because the rain has been hitting him. It may be causing him so much pain that the pain can be motioned through the stinky
News: The biggest drug company in Asia is
now down
I read the news it was the Naokota Company. I was waiting for his appearance on
the news but only their group had been mentioned. f**k! It will be more dangerous
now. Their political ally just became a senator! I remember what happened 8
years ago. Did the Running Eagle make the Naokota down, but that wasn’t the
group being mentioned to the news, it was the army. Oh, shut up Ivy why are
you even worried about him? But… Whatever he still left me, he didn’t even want
us in his life, he was so indulged in his Running Eagle trope.
So, what’s the point? why am I worried about him? I should not care, it's his life
after all. I convinced myself but still bothered. So, I swiped up to ignore the
news.
The running eagle is undeniably won't lose over them, but it kind of scary.
While swiping on my iPad I received a call telling me about the issue of our family Pharmacy business in the Philippines at the moment. Our business is being accused to selling expired medicines, like why would we even do that thing!
That news bothers me and I immediately flew back to the Philippines. Upon hearing the reasons from our pharmacy managers that it was just a dirty work of the other business around.
"Ma'am you don't have to worry too much about this, we were working hand in hand, we also asks the Diamonds," she said and I nodded. She has a lot of connections so I believe in her, and now I think I need some Sakura drink.
She showed me some documents and I nodded about it, "Okay, all set Cari, I think I need some drinks, now, this awful issue is giving me a headache!"
She laughed at me, "Delightful cafe ma'am, they're open 24/7" she said and I smiled at her as I left our pharmacy and headed to the cafe.
The delightful café is still beautiful, the ambiance just changed a bit but it become larger with a library space in the second floor. I was about to go to the counter when I saw a familiar face.
“Matteo, you’re an i***t!” he said as he slightly punches his friend’s shoulder.
“Dude, I told you, I wasn’t joking.”
“I told you not to become close with her right?”
“What are you jealous of, damn my friend is so heartbroken!”
Upon hearing them and observing their actions, I think Liam is now dating someone, and his friend Matteo is teasing him. I suddenly become curious about him again. Damn, what am I thinking? I observed their action until they went out to the café they just bought iced coffees.
“Hi, ma’am have a delightful day, may I take your order?” I smiled when the cashier greeted me.
“One Sakura Drink, and a healthy burger.”
“Noted ma’am please take your seat as we prepare your order, smile, and have a delightful day ma’am,” she said that making me smile. This is what I missed here their jolly faces, and how happy they are serving their customers.
I patiently waited for my drink while reminiscing some crazy memories here, this place screams so much craziness of my college years.
“Here’s your order ma’am have a delightful day, and enjoy.”
“Thanks,” while I am peacefully eating my snacks someone called me.
“Ivy?” he wasn’t sure when he told me that.
“Yes?”
“Wow, Ivy Gonzales? As in! Have you seen him a while ago?”
“Sorry, I don’t remember you.”
“Oh, that hurts, Ralph, have you forgotten?”
“Ow, shocks, yeah I remember you.”
“Hmm, did you heard the news? Or that was the reason why you’re here?”
“Huh? No I just have things to do here.”
“Wow, I thought Liam told you already, it’s been 8 years, you look so great now.”
“Thanks, and I am busy with my own life, it won’t concern him anymore.”
“Ow, is that so, by the way, I need to go now, nice meeting you again,” he said and waved at me, I just smiled. This is the reason why
I don’t want to come back here. I will meet them wherever.
Before going back to New York, I stayed in Levi’s mansion, as usual, her mom always treats me as a fragile thing that all things have been served for me. After staying for 3 days I flew back to New York again.
“Mommy!” my daughter is so excited when she saw me, I showed her all the gifts from her
auntie Lev and she was so amazed.
“Lev is spoiling her,” my mom told in disbelief.
“Mom, Lev also brought this for you, and for dad,” I gave her the clothes and the
wallet.
“That woman, she never forgets us, tell her, thank you for this,” my mom told me
before going to the kitchen
After my 4 days break, I have so many backlogs, I started replying to emails, and
messages and checking some reports, this day was so exhausting. I took a glance
at the clock, it was almost 12 and for sure my daughter’s class has ended. My
mom texted me that she wasn’t able to fetch my daughter today, so, it was
mommy’s duty to fetch her.
I drove my car, while I am on my way I brought some snacks for her, she might be
hungry now, I parked in the parking area and left my car. When I step out of my
car I walked around the school, trying to find my daughter when I saw a
familiar face.
“Liam?” I whispered to myself, I am not sure because he is far from my place, but I got
nervous at that moment. Damn. Will he ruin my
life, again? I brushed off that thought, I should not be caring about him
anymore. I need to look for my daughter. Finally, I saw her running towards me,
while that man is walking to come near me. My heart is beating so fast out of
nervousness, I breathed to calm myself, but I couldn’t.
“Hi,” he greeted me and I was stunned, it was just a simple hi from him. His voice
can consummate my energy!
“Mommy!” my daughter shouted, so I look at her, I was lucky enough, but still nervous.
“Ow, you’re married,” he said in disbelief, which made me out of my thoughts. what, how could he think I am married? But it’s
better than him knowing that he was the father of my daughter.
“Uh,” I have no words to say, my head suddenly becomes empty.
“Congratulations by the way,” he said and passed by us, he even waved at my daughter and my
daughter smiled at him.
What? He congratulated me, that man really
can ruin my day!
“Mommy, you look frustrated,” my daughter told me as she laughed, I just smiled at her
and opened the passenger seat.
I took a last glance at that man.
You freaking asshole!
“Mommy, that man is handsome, I have seen her around our school before,” my daughter
told me while eating her spaghetti.
“What? Did you introduce yourself?”
“No, he is handsome, but he is still a stranger, but I always smile at him.”
“Don’t come near him, ever again, okay?”
“Is he bad? But he saved my friend Liana when she suddenly fell in the pool.”
“Just…Just be careful, some, good people are just pretending goons.”
“Okay, noted mommy.”
“But I love his nose. We’re the same!” she said which made me look at her in
disbelief. Please no! I can't lose my daughter.
Remembering how did we end up like this, making me overthink about what my daughter have spilled on me. Geez this is not good!
It was dark and gloomy, but there was something captivating about his presence. It was always a mix of sweetness and intrigue, a delicate balance that kept me on my toes in our tumultuous relationship.
Life had its moments of vibrant colors, like a rainbow shining across the sky. Those were the moments I wished could last forever, where time seemed to stand still. But I also knew that darkness and challenges were inevitable. The rain would come, obscuring the beauty of the rainbow. Sometimes, it felt like the raindrops brought pain and stench, as if the land itself was hurting from the relentless downpour.
I tried to distract myself from my thoughts by reading the news on my iPad. That's when I stumbled upon an article about the Naokota Company, the biggest drug company in Asia, facing a downfall. It struck a chord within me. I had been waiting for his appearance in the news, but only his group was mentioned. Frustration and disappointment welled up inside me. Why did I even care? He had left me, too consumed by his Running Eagle persona.
I swiped up, dismissing the news, trying to convince myself that I shouldn't worry about him anymore. It was his life, his choices. But the truth was, I couldn't shake off the lingering curiosity and concern.
Just as I was lost in my thoughts, my phone rang. It was a call informing me about an issue with our family's pharmacy business in the Philippines. Accusations of selling expired medicines were tarnishing our reputation. I immediately made the decision to fly back and address the situation.
Upon arriving in the Philippines, I met with our pharmacy managers. They assured me that it was a dirty tactic by rival businesses and that they were working diligently to resolve the issue. My trust in their competence and connections brought a sense of relief. I needed some time to relax and clear my mind, so I decided to visit the Delightful Café.
The café hadn't changed much, aside from expanding to include a library on the second floor. As I approached the counter, I noticed a familiar face among the customers.
"Matteo, you're such an i***t!" a voice exclaimed, accompanied by a playful punch.
"Dude, I told you I wasn't joking," another voice replied.
Their banter piqued my curiosity. Observing them from a distance, I realized it was Liam, and his friend Matteo seemed to be teasing him. A mix of emotions stirred within me, but I tried to brush them off. What did it matter? Liam had left me, and I should focus on my own life.
I ordered a Sakura Drink and a healthy burger, finding solace in the familiar surroundings and the cheerful demeanor of the café staff. As I enjoyed my meal, a voice called out to me.
"Ivy?" he hesitated, unsure if it was really me.
"Yes?" I replied, turning to face him.
"Wow, Ivy Gonzales? Have you seen him recently?" he asked, a hint of excitement in his voice.
"Sorry, I don't remember you," I replied, feeling a mix of curiosity and wariness.
"Oh, that hurts. It's Ralph. Have you forgotten?" he said, a playful tone in his voice.
"Oh, right, Ralph. How could I forget?" I said, trying to hide my surprise.
"Hey, have you heard the news? Or is that why you're here?" Ralph asked, his tone shifting to a more serious note.
"Huh? No, I just had some things to take care of here," I replied, trying to downplay any connection to Liam.
"Wow, I thought Liam had already told you. It's been eight years, and you look great now," Ralph said, his words catching me off guard.
"Thanks, but I'm busy with my own life now. It doesn't concern him anymore," I said, attempting to sound unaffected.
"Well, I have to go now. It was nice meeting you again," Ralph said, waving before he left. I smiled politely, but inside, my emotions were in turmoil. This was precisely why I didn't want to come back here. I didn't want to be reminded of the past. I would meet them wherever I needed to, but I had moved on.
Before returning to New York, I stayed at Levi's mansion, as her mother always treated me with care and provided everything I needed. After three days, I boarded the flight back home.
"Mommy!" my daughter exclaimed with excitement as she saw me. I showed her the gifts from Auntie Lev, and her eyes sparkled with delight.
"Lev spoils her," my mom commented in disbelief.
"Mom, Lev also brought something for you and Dad," I said, handing her the gifts.
"That woman never forgets us. Thank her for me," my mom said before heading to the kitchen.
After my short break, reality hit me hard as I caught up with the pile of backlogs at work. Replying to emails, messages, and checking reports consumed my day. Exhaustion settled in, and I glanced at the clock—it was nearly midnight. It meant I had to pick up my daughter from school. My mom texted that she couldn't fetch her today, so it was up to me.
I hurriedly drove to the school, realizing I hadn't bought snacks for my daughter. I parked the car and began searching for her, my eyes scanning the surroundings. Then, I saw a face that sent my heart racing.
"Liam?" I whispered, unsure if it was really him. But he seemed so out of place. What was he doing here? I tried to push the thought away, reminding myself that I shouldn't care about him anymore. I needed to find my daughter. And there she was, running towards me. At the same time, Liam was walking closer.
"Hi," he greeted me, and I was taken aback by his casual tone. His voice still had the power to consume my energy.
"Mommy!" my daughter exclaimed, diverting my attention. I looked at her, grateful for the distraction, but Liam's presence lingered, causing my heart to race even faster.
"Oh, you're married," he said, his disbelief evident. Confusion filled my mind. How could he think I was married? But perhaps it was better than him knowing that he was the father of my daughter.
"Uh," I stammered, my mind going blank. I couldn't find the words to respond. My head was a jumble of thoughts and emotions.
"Congratulations, by the way," he said, passing us by. He even waved at my daughter, who smiled back at him.
What just happened? He congratulated me. That man had the power to turn my world upside down.
"Mommy, you look frustrated," my daughter observed, laughing. I mustered a smile for her and opened the passenger door.
I took one last glance at Liam, frustration and confusion swirling within me. You freaking asshole!
"Mommy, that man is handsome. I've seen him around our school before," my daughter said as she savored her spaghetti.
"What? Did you introduce yourself?" I asked, concerned.
"No, he's handsome, but he's still a stranger. But I always smile at him," she replied innocently.
"Don't go near him, ever again, okay?" I warned her.
"Is he bad? But he saved my friend Liana when she
fell into the pool," she said, her innocence shining through.
"Just... Just be careful. Sometimes, even good people can be pretending goons," I cautioned.
"Okay, noted, Mommy."
"But I love his nose. It's like mine!" she exclaimed, causing me to look at her in disbelief. Please, no! I couldn't lose my daughter.
