Destiny or question
In the royal house of Ynitsed, the queen teetered on the brink of a momentous event: the birth of twin sons. But these were no ordinary infants; their arrival heralded a profound destiny. The question that loomed over their future was simple yet profound: Is it better to be born at the pinnacle only to fall, or to start at the bottom and rise?
The twins, Tenebris and Lux, though bound by blood, were raised in extremely different environments. Tenebris bore a chilling mark on his chest, one that evoked a sense of foreboding, as if death itself hovered nearby. Because of this ominous sign, he and his mother were shunned, and relegated to a life far below that of their royal status. In contrast, Lux grew up amidst the trappings of royalty, though the family’s fractured power dynamics often stirred tension.
Consumed by a thirst for vengeance, the queen set fire to the royal household, intending to kill the king and Lux. In the end, it was the queen who perished. Her funeral was a mere formality, masking the palpable desire of the courtiers to abandon their posts. Amid the sea of faces eager to escape, Tenebris remained, his expression not that of a child but of a man who bore a profound burden.
"Are you okay?" Lux asked softly, his voice laden with concern. It took a moment for Tenebris to respond, his gaze fixed on the grave.
"You wouldn't understand," Tenebris finally said, his tone heavy with resignation. "How could you?".
This world contained 10 countries Ynitsed, Eldoria, Arcanis, Sylvaris, Drakoria, Vesperia, Celestia, Veridonia, Nyxara and Thaloria all of which are ruled by one man the overlord. this title is given out every 100 years to the winner of the overlord selection tournament, the title overlord is sought after all those who use magic no matter if they're good or evil even human or not.
In the days following the queen’s death, Tenebris and Lux were thrust into a world where alliances shifted like sand, and every choice seemed to carry immense weight. Their destination was Fantasy Line Academy, a prestigious institution known for unveiling and nurturing magical abilities. It was there that their true paths would be revealed, paths that would shape not only their futures but the fate of their kingdom.
The journey to the academy was marked by an uneasy silence. Lux, keenly aware of the shift in his brother’s demeanor, watched Tenebris with growing concern. The once-troubled boy had become a shadow of his former self, his demeanor heavy with the burdens of fate and family.
Upon their arrival at the academy, Headmaster Elowen greeted them with a knowing glance. The Sorting Ceremony began, a ritual that would determine their magical affinities and, in many ways, their destinies. Students approached an ancient orb, which glowed and pulsed, reflecting their innate magical traits.
Lux was called first. As he stood before the orb, it radiated a warm, inviting light. “Lux, you are to join the Mavs,” Elowen announced. The Mavs were masters of elemental magic—fire, water, earth, and air. Lux’s face lit up with a mixture of excitement and relief. The Mavs’ balance and strength were a perfect fit for him.
Tenebris approached the orb next, his movements slow and deliberate. As the orb’s light enveloped him, a chill spread through the room. Elowen’s expression grew grave. “Tenebris, you are assigned to the Cavs.” The Cavs were known for their command over darker, more arcane magics—shadows and illusions, secrets best left buried.
Lux’s heart sank as Tenebris walked away from the orb, his steps heavy. The Cavs were notorious for their isolation and their dangerous magical practices. He knew this group would test Tenebris in ways he might not be prepared for.
In the months that followed, the academy’s influence began to manifest in unexpected ways. Lux thrived in the Mavs, finding camaraderie and purpose in mastering the elements. But Tenebris’s journey through the Cavs’ rigorous and often sinister training took a toll on him. The Cavs’ teachings pushed him to confront and harness darker aspects of magic, and with each lesson, Tenebris seemed to drift further from the boy Lux once knew.
Lux often found himself troubled by the changes in his brother. Tenebris became more distant, his eyes reflecting a growing hardness, a coldness that seemed out of place. The Cavs’ secretive rituals and dark enchantments appeared to consume him, and Lux feared that Tenebris was succumbing to the very shadows he was supposed to control.
One evening, Lux made his way to the Cavs' common room, determined to reach out to Tenebris. He found his brother alone, pouring over an ancient tome filled with dark incantations. The room was dim, illuminated only by the flickering light of enchanted candles. Tenebris looked up, his expression one of weary resolve.
“Tenebris,” Lux said softly, trying to mask his concern. “You seem different. This place—it’s changing you.”
Tenebris’s gaze was intense, his voice carrying an edge that unsettled Lux. “You don’t understand, Lux. The Cavs teach us to embrace what others fear. It’s not just about controlling darkness—it’s about becoming it.”
Lux’s heart ached at the words. “Is this what you wanted? To become someone who uses fear and darkness?”
“It’s not about what I wanted,” Tenebris replied, his tone growing colder. “It’s about what I must become to survive, to gain power. Sometimes, the path to strength requires sacrifices.”
Lux’s worry deepened. He could see the line Tenebris was walking, a line that seemed to lead toward a perilous future. “Be careful, Tenebris. The power you seek—it might come with a cost you’re not prepared to pay.”
Tenebris’s eyes hardened, his voice barely a whisper. “I’m past the point of turning back, Lux. I have to embrace this path, even if it leads me into darkness.”
As Tenebris returned to his studies, Lux remained, watching his brother with a mixture of sorrow and hope. The future of Ynitsed was uncertain, and the path they walked seemed fraught with danger. Yet despite the growing rift between them, Lux vowed to remain vigilant, hoping against hope that Tenebris might yet find his way back from the shadows.
