Earth Laced : 2098
January, 01, 2098 Every person on the planet began tripping on LSD. Little was known about how the air and perhaps water supply had been spiked, and continued to be. Everyone in the world fell deep into a hallucinating frenzy. The LSD did not seem to be going anywhere. The Politicians appeared on the Home-Feed almost instantaneously. They all, more or less began in a moral outrage, pleading their out cry against the so called 'Eco-Terrorists' responsible for spiking the water. One such politician, Rory Winchester, England's prime minister did just so. The prime minister appeared at a terribly hastily built podium, in front of the world. "I declare England at war with these despicable perpetrators! The punishment for these terrorists will be a swift death!." Rory's suit and tie, which fit a little too snuggly, had been feeling 'wrong' to him the last few minutes. "Wait!" He shifted on the podium. 'How long have a been here?' Winchester felt a dreadful confusion seize a hold of him. "As I was saying. Oh my god Lisa do you feel that?!" Levi could hear through the Home Feed a woman's voice reply with excitement, "Oh dear yes Mr.Winchester" She crooned "What just happened?!" Rory proceeded to break down into a horrifyingly lucid confession of his misdeeds as a man and as a politician. The mind shattering truths he was speaking were beginning to send millions of people on earth tuned in, into an endless pit of insanity that would perhaps never stop. Many committed suicide that first day. Even more the next. Levi was not one of them. It had been a week now since the LSD had flooded the world and things were not the way they used to be to say the least. 1. The Rutter's ( January 6th 2098 ) Seattle, WA USA Levi Rutter watched the snow fall incessantly from the front porch of his beautiful cottage, on the outskirts of Seattle. The kids were probably upstairs or somewhere. He had trouble trying to keep track of anybodies whereabouts the last week. Levi had to keep reminding himself that he was married with children. The last week had felt like a million years, and at the same time, less than a minute. Levi decided to check on his family again. he done this 43 times since yesterday, but he didn't know that. The beaming of consciousness flooded through him as he made his way up the dizzying stairs. There was no getting used to this. Levi had not used LSD since he was eighteen, and he was thirty eight. How many years was that? He opened a door that had dancing images on it. It looked familiar. How strange. His family was there (Thank God). His wife, Thesa was sitting cross legged, holding their eight year old daughter, Missy, by her side. Across from them, Alan sat huddled, gazing intently at the spinning ballerina atop the music box in between them all. Alan just turned fifteen. Levi could sense all three of them were deeply mesmerized by this machine, but he would not let himself be caught in its menacing trap. "Come on Thessa, kids. We got to eat now." They didn't hear me, Levi thought. Did I not say anything? "KIDS. THESSA! CAN YOU HEAR ME?" Missy eyes and attention slowly registered her father. Suddenly Missy's earlier calmness was gone. She looked terrified as she whimpered "Dad?? Dad? I'm scared!" Levi took a deep breath. "Ok, let's go downstairs now." This was not easy to do. Missy held on to her Mommy and Daddy's hands, as they made their way, bug eyed to the kitchen. Levi never made it in to work. They ate oranges for dinner that night. 2. Hannah Polina (January 18th, 2098) France, EU Most of the world was trying to go about business as usual. Hannah worked as a Tv host on a nightly Home Feed program broadcasted in France. The show 'Polina's Post' was a widely popular broadcast. It took the network and producers three days to resume regular scheduling. The theme of her news show had took on a entirely new, shocking concept lately. Hannah sat in her favorite chair backstage, as the two girls responsible for her hair and makeup worked on her, speaking to each other intensely in what sounded to Hannah like ancient tongues of some sort. The vibe from the hair and make up girls was stifling. It was evil, Hannah thought as she began to fear for her life. In truth the two girls were speaking regular french, and were discussing normal matters, very much not in an evil way. "Your On!" The assistant producer, Tyler Steven called out. Reading the words to the news on live Tv had become a very difficult thing to do. "Hi I'm Hannah Polina. Tonight on Polina's Post we talk about how to grow your own food in your living room. Also we will show you today's address from the U.N. " The vibes are pretty stable outside in France right now. 15% chance of a bad trip." The camera cut to one of her co-host's Rebecca Blue, explaining how to build a working garden of fruits and vegetables in your bedroom, garage or living room. To Hannah, It sounded sensible. Hannah finished off the broadcast with only a few serious mistakes. Not bad. The Post's team congratulated her extensively. Hannah couldn't wait to go lay down in a warm bubble bath. 3. Fillman Breaux (February 1st, 2098) Montreal, CA The LSD turned out be very airborne. It drifted among the sidewalks and streets like miniature rain clouds. The U.N. was down Fillman's neck for some sort of breathing apparatus that could neutralize the Acid. Fill's team was seemingly doing the best they could in their current altered state of mind. Some of his team seemed to excel in their work, giving the circumstances, while others thrashed about uselessly like a fish out of water. It was so easy to become lost on a tangent and never really come back. Fillman Breaux was one of the top scientists in the world and was often contracted out by the U.N. or various other Governments to research 'that' or design 'these'. Little did they know, even after all the extensive digging into his background, Fillman Breaux was a high ranking member in the secret society responsible for lacing the air supply with LSD. Because of this fact, Fill did little to impress his masters at the UN, and instead purposely and meaningfully suppressed any technology relating to 'clean' air. Mr. Breaux's role in this social experiment was vital in guarding against any breakthroughs for cleansing out the acid. With the shambled manner in which even the highest levels of Governmental ranks were operating on, it was easy disguising Fill's sabotaging, which had been occurring unnoticed amidst the psychedelic turmoil for weeks now. Fillman stopped typing abruptly, inhaled an enormously large deep breath, and took in the sight around him, gazing enchantedly at the state of the art work settings and all it's ball frying inhabitants. What was this exactly? It was hard to tell anymore. It felt like thousands of years had passed since the air was spiked with the mind altering substance. How marvelously melodical! How marginally methodical! Sweat, oozy, greasy and oily, secreted insufferably into Fill's beard, his face running over with a thick stickiness. He was seeing colors and shapes through the most primal parts of his brain, his ancient, organic, super computer network of a mind. "Mr. Breaux I think I found something." It was one of his scientists. Fill wasn't sure what it was, but everytime he seen this woman or talked to her all he could feel was a magnetic missile explosion of a mega size magnitude. Magic. "Oh? What do you have here." Fillman couldn't understand what she saying, expect that she was conveying something most miraculous and mystical. "Steady there Fillman." He urged his self into semi-sanity with a good pep talk. "Mr. Breaux?" ___ 4. In a Rut - March. 06, 2098 __ Seattle, WA, USA The dismal madness of life was suffocating Levi. His appearance was grizzled and unkept. He had spent the last couple days outside of his home, stalking wildlife, in attempts at cross species communication. It was very possible, and in fact, probable to Levi that he should be able to speak with a deer or a raccoon or any of the countless numbers of animals alive around him. He, himself, felt like an animal, running through the woods at high speed, armed with only his bare hands. Levi hadn't thought of his family for over a week, too lost inside of his new heightened and altered senses to draw much in the way of a connection with anything before the LSD. His eyes no longer saw the same way. His mind no longer viewed things the same either. He felt primal, but in the most complimenting sense of the word. He felt every individual cell alive and circulating as his blood traversed through his veins in a superior grid of life giving passages. I, Human. Levi no longer had to think about how to stay alive, he just did, reflexively. Whether it was eating, bathing, finding shelter and warmth, he just did it. There was no second guessing, or being 'practical' or any of the traits that the modern man had recently inherited. As he ran through the forest, a paralyzing realization came over his entire mental frame: I'm changing. He wrestled up the available memories of his life before the LSD. His family. My family, my devastatingly precious children. My wife. Levi came to a halt, in the midst of infinitely large alder trees and evergreens overbearingly stretching out above him. My family.Levi didn't know where he was or how long he had been gone from his family. Clenching his dirty and bloody hands with sorrowful anger, Levi fell to his knees and began sobbing violently. Curled into a ball of crushing experiences, Levi moaned over and over, "Please. I can't take this anymore. I just want to feel normal. Please, let me come down." Hours, or what seemed like an eternity later, Levi fell into a hellish landscape of vivid nightmares. Things weren't looking very stable for Mr. Rutter. 5.Hannah Spelled Backwards --- April 20th, 2098 France, EU Polina's Post was still being televised in France, daily, and the ratings spectacularly high. It was the only thing hailing from France that wasn't reruns. "Hey everyone, I'm Hannah Polina and welcome to Polina's Post!" Before the LSD, Hannah felt as if she was only playing a role while she was on air. Now with the bright lights beaming down onto her silky white skin, she felt absorbed into her occupation and position in front of the cameras. She sat laxed yet dignified. "Today on the Post, is the UN doing anything to figure out the air and water crisis? Well earlier I asked Fillman Breaux, scientist for the UN and here's what he has to say." The screen cut away to the interview, recorded earlier. "Mr. Breaux, has your team discovered anything yet that could help alleviate this eco-disaster?" "I'm afraid not, although we are working feverishly at producing results, I assure you." "Mr. Breaux, does the UN know how the air and water supplies were spiked?" "No, we don't. Not at this time, but we believe that it was no accident and that Eco-terrorists are responsible." The questioning went on, back and forth. Hannah didn't look satisfied at all with the answers Fill was giving her and the rest of the EU. Hannah had become the people's "champ" in the last few months. It was the crusading for the truth, with her hard hitting questions, intelligent and some how composed outer appearance that had recently made her so popular. Grimacing at Mr.Breaux, Hannah was clearly getting flustered with all his short, unknowledgeable answers. 'Why'd the UN even send me this guy if he doesn't know shit.' Hannah thought as she prepared for her next question. "Okay then, Mr. Breaux, what do you know? Do you have any answers for us, whatsoever, concerning the state of the world?" "No, I'm sorry. Not at this moment." Looking disgusted, Hannah stood up from her interview chair, still being recorded, and approached her assistant. "Why is this hack on my show? He doesn't know a damned thing!" Hannah was indignant. The camera cut back to the live feed of Hannah, behind her desk, She was smoking a cigarette and running a restless hand through her strawberry blond hair. "Well as you can see." She said to the millions of people watching her program, "The UN does not seem to know much. Could they be lying though? Without a doubt. It wouldn't be the first time technology has been deliberately suppressed from the public." She was someone to rally behind. 6. Filling Out - June, 03, 2098 San Francisco, Ca The decay and degradation from the last six months could be seen in every city Fill traveled too. Dead bodies littered the streets. Every surface was sticky with human excrement, sweat and filth. The laboratories and facilities Fillman worked in throughout the world had become dumps with paper strewn across the floors, nothing in it's right spot and so on. Fillman did not like what he was seeing. When he chose to take part in this experiment, he truly believed that humans would transcend far past their previous state of being. He couldn't have been more wrong. Society at large had collapsed and reverted back to its most primal notions. People, now, for the most part were all lying in piles of their own s**t. That Hannah Polina though Fillman thought. Her tv show was one of the only programs still being televised. In the last couple months Polina's Post had become a world wide phenom, the only thing since the LSD to ignite and unite the population. Her show was now a call to arms against the UN. she was now a symbol of revolution, and Fillman believed fully that it could come to fruition. Fillman Breaux silently strolled up to the House of Helm, which was the home base for Fill and the other inner members of The Helm Society, the people responsible for the Eco-terrorist attack. This was an emergency meeting called by the head of Helm, Grisle Brekful, probably due to exactly what was plaguing himself. The failed experiment. Fillman and all sixteen inner members of the Helm society were now taking psycho-suppressant IV shots and were all clear headed for the most part. Fill could clearly feel the wear and tear of the five or so months on acid, even a month after inventing the IV suppressant, which he had not disclosed to his few remaining colleagues, nor the UN. No, he would not give it to the UN. If there was going to be a war between the revolutionists and the United Nations, he was not going to make it easier for the World Government to slaughter billions of people. "Grisle, why are we here? It's dangerous to be meeting anymore." Rork Chistensen, sitting across from Fill began the meeting. He was obviously flustered. All of them were. "What have we done?" The shouting and arguing started to flare up. That's when Grisle Brekful piped up. "Everybody! Shut the f**k up right now. Look." Grisle's face expression hardened like pottery out of a kiln. "We need to shut down all the bird drones immediately. This experiment has gone completely defunct." Grisle kept speaking for an hour or so, but Fillman didn't really hear much of it, all he could focus on was how thankful he was for this s**t show to come to an end. They had set up self replicating birds of all types to fly in the air throughout the world, dropping the LSD that was in fact manufactured and produced inside of the stomachs of the crows, seagulls or any of the other varieties of bird they were using. The rumor that the LSD was in the water supply was just that, a rumor. It was in the air. And now, thank God, was going to be shut down. The Helm Society left, hours later, one by one, all heartened by the course of the meeting. This nightmare was going almost over, although, Fillman thought, the aftermath will be devastating in so many ways. He was a Scientist, not to mention, a sharp man. When the world wakes up, there was going to be hell to pay for everyone. 7. Thats Dad? - August, 01, 2098 - Seattle, WA The Rutters were far from reality and had no idea of the world's current events. None of them knew of the massive overthrow of the One World Government of the UN that have just took place in the last few days. None of them knew Hannah Polina had unified the global population in a psychedelic laced, all-out-war against the elite Oligarchy of the UN. None of them knew Fillman Breaux presented Hannahs uprising with the IV psycho-suppressant at the dawn of the attack, a pivotal moment for the success of ensuing war. Not one of them knew how the LSD spreading birds above head refused to deactivate when Grisle dialed in the kill code, and had only been stopped with a low pulse EMP bombs miles high into the atmosphere. That was yesterday. The Rutters knew none of this. All they knew is they were beginning to feel strange. A feeling they hadn't felt in eight months. It felt disorienting to Thesa. Was she getting even higher? She thought, worriedly. But no, it was the acid finally leaving their bodies. Thesa gazed longingly out the living room window as she had done, nearly religiously since Levi had left. Her kids were sleeping on the couch. The kids were very close now. Their bond had grown enormously. It was natural. It was primal. Through the window, Thesa spotted something that resembled a yeti, emerging stumbling out of the looming evergreen trees. It was Levi. 8. A Brave New World - December, 31, 2098, Earth Free elections were being held in every country for new leadership. The world was changed forever. Even though it was a scarring experience, it had ripened the remaining human population. Psychic abilities were now commonplace among the people. Speaking was mostly only used in formal settings, otherwise everyone spoke mentally to each other. It was a step in the right direction. The election results would be trickling in everywhere tomorrow. 2099.
