5 ... 4 ... 3 ... 2 ... 1 ... BBRRRIIIINNGG!!! Finally, it's the end of the week, I throw my bag over my shoulder as I move quickly out of the school, staying to the side of the hallway and out of everyone's way, I keep looking forward at my target ... the school doors, I am nearly there. "Eek" I squeak as I come tumbing down to the ground, everthing is in slowmotion, I cannot move my hands fast enough to protect myself with a loud smack I hit the floor, I hear people laughing, I take in a shaky breath and then everything goes black. It's dark and cold, I dont know where I am "HELLO?" I call out into the depths of the darkness but there is no reply, there is no-one here, I don't know if I should be relieved or terrified. I sit down in the dark and close my eyes to focus on any sounds I may hear, nothing I am alone. I curl up into a ball and try to remember how I got here, where am I? Where did I come from? Then it hits me ... I dont know! I dont know anything other than this dark place. I slowly close my eyes and slip into a deep sleep whilst I feel at peace with everything. Zane's POV 'Yo! Zane! Party at the lake tonight?' I hear from across the car park out side of the school, I look over and see one of my guys from the football team shouting over at me I nod and give a small wave to confirm. I always go to the parties at the lake I just need to speak to my father first. I climb into my bright red porche and start the engine, just before I pull away my bestfriend and Beta to be, Sam, climbs in the passenger side. 'Hey man, you ready for this meeting?' Sam asks me as I start driving home. 'Yeah man what took you so long getting out here you know our Dad's will have our heads if we are late to these meetings?' I questionned Sam, he is a good Beta but as we are still in training he isn't always at his best especially when it comes to being on time. 'Fun in the hallway, what can I say?' Sam replies with a smirk on his face, I shake my head and laugh at him as he has always been this way. I pull up to the pack house and get out of the car followed by Sam we head up the steps to the door and into the pack house. In the pack house there's the omega staff that work here, my father who lives on the top floor, I live on the third floor, the Beta family which includes Sam, his parents and his twin sister they live on the 2nd floor with the Gamma family which is my Uncle and my cousin David. The rest of the pack members live in houses around our territory and there are the omega chambers where the maids take shifts to stay overnight in case we need anything. We make it to my fathers office on the top floor and I walk in with Sam behind me 'Hello Father' I say with a nod towards my father who is sat in his suit behind his desk. I notice the current Beta and my Uncle over on the sofas opposite my fathers desk 'Beta, Unc' I say towards to two men, Sam also says his hellos before we take a seat on the opposite sofa to the Beta and Gamma, my father walks over and sits in the armchair between the two sofas. 'First, we have rogues scouting around our territory, we have captured them took them to our storage units and have made a deal with them, we provide them with training, food and shelter and they work for us with a small paycheck too.' My uncle starts off the meeting, I am a little unsure on the idea as most rogues are unstable wolves that got kicked out of their pack so a lot of the work they get hired to do isn't exactly clean, but with rogues willing to work for us in return for some stability maybe they aren't expecting to do anything extreme and I would rather have them work for us than against us. 'Second, you two will start more training and being more involved with pack matters throughout this year then we will send you off to the academy for 3 months after graduation, once you have graduated and completed the academy you get 1 month to travel before shadowing us for your final 8 months. Once that time is up and you have found or chosen your mates we will review you taking your places in the pack' the Beta followed on from my father, 12 months from now and I will be Alpha, Sam will be my Beta and we will be running this pack a grin starts forming on my face as I lock eyes with my father. 'Finally, there is going to be a pack maid starting this week. I bought her. She has no name, not sure on her age but she is arund 15/16 so she will be attending school. She is human also but she will be living and working in the packhouse' my father continued after the Beta, I look around at everyone confused 'if she is human why is she coming here? why did you buy a human?' I question my father. 'She is young she will learn to cook, clean, prepare and obey orders while she is here, she was at the auction they thought she was part of some high ranked family in the UK but she has no wolf and no one claimed her. So I generously took her in so we could have some help and she didn't die on the streets. We will break her in Zane get her ready for when you take over' my father explained with a smirk on his face. I knew exactly what he meant by that and smiled back at him getting excited to meet the new girl. After the meeting with our parents Sam and I headed to our rooms to change for the party, I had just walked out of the bathroom in my towel when I saw my dad in my room. 'Hey Dad what's up?' I asked him. 'Son, I want you to hear this from me. your mother was not my fated mate, My fated mate was an omega, she came from a poor family, she didn't have the strength or requirements to be my mate so I chose your mother. I want you to know that in order to be a stong Alpha you need to have a strong Luna, Beta and Gamma. Everything I do I have done for this pack and you to become strong, feared, rich and powerful and I know I can count on you to continue our legacy when you take over the pack.' I looked at my father in shock he has never used this much gentleness when speaking to anybody. I am not suprised by my fathers mate situation I figured that one out on my own and I agree with him we wouldn't be the pack we are today if that weak woman was by my fathers side. 'It's okay dad.' I replied and I walked to my closet to get dressed. When I returned my father had left the room and Sam was in his place. 'You ready yet man?' he asked me, I nodded my head and we left for the lake side party.
