4 - She is only a maid

ELLA POV

After lunch I followed the Alpha to his office with Camille, I was absolutely terrified I have never seen anyone's eyes turn fully black when angry nor did I know that I was late by 5 minutes. I am now sat in his huge office with him staring at me we have been here for 5 minutes already and he hasn't said a word, Camille is sat in a chair in front of Alpha's desk and I am stood behind the other,  my legs feel like they may give way any moment now due to how weak and wobbly they are from the fear coursing through my veins. The Alpha's office door is suddenly opened wide making me jump in my spot, I take my eyes off the floor and look towards the door only to see the Alpha's son. 'What do I have to be here for?' he asked staring directly at the Alpha, who was now looking back at him. 'Well she is yours Zane, so you should be here to listen to her explain herself and decide on the punishment' the Alpha explained to his son, a small gasp escaped my lips at the sound of 'punishment' a thousand things ran through my head all at once. I looked at Zane and caught his chocolate brown eyes staring right at me, he looked away quickly before turning to his father 'Fine, lets get this over with, explain why you were late' he said as he leaned against the door. I took a deep breath to calm my nerves and speak clearly. Just as I was going to speak Camille stood up and spoke first 'I did as you asked Alpha, I took her to the kitchen and showed her where everything is, I explained her job role here and told her I will help her this week, I gave her some cookbooks so she can learn more recipes and asked her to bring me a clear menu for the upcoming week minus Monday and I will show her how to place the food delivery order tomorrow..', 'Why not Monday?' Zane cut in. 'Because I put the order in on a Saturday to be delivered on a Monday morning, I figured it would be easier for me to organize Monday's lunch and dinner and show her how to place the order for the meals she has decided on for the rest of week tomorrow so it arrives on the Tuesday.' Camille finished and turned back to the Alpha 'you go above and beyond to help her Camille' the Alpha said 'so what happened?' he asked raising his voice slightly, his eyes turning darker, my body started to shake and Camille spoke up again 'Once we were done in the kitchen I took her to the omega quarters where she will be staying to put her bags down, I gave her 5 minutes and told her to meet me back upstairs in the kitchen before I left to make lunch' the Alpha turned to me 'Camille here has been very generous to you, you are here to work and in return I am taking care of you. Now, will you explain to me why you were late when you were given more than enough time to put your bags down and go back to the kitchen', I looked at the Alpha with tears in my eyes seeing him get so angry 'I am very grateful you took me in Alpha and I am very grateful for Camille's help, I am truly sorry I was late, I was looking around my new room and I did not realize how long I had took or that I was running late. I am terribly sorry I will not let it happen again' I rushed the ending hoping not to upset the Alpha anymore, he looked at me and sat back in his seat and looked over to his son who was staring holes into the side of my head. 'Stupid excuse really! .. but since it is your first day I have an old alarm clock it still works, I will have it sent to your room now. You will go and prepare the menu for this week including Monday and meet Camille in 2 hours to complete the order ad help prepare dinner. Lets hope this time you will be on time, tardiness is not appreciated around here and if you are late again I will not be so forgiving or lenient with you' Zane spoke with such authority I had to hold back the shiver that was running down my spine, before I could respond to thank him he was already out of the room. 'Well my son is going to be a fantastic Alpha one day, off you go .. Elle' the Alpha spoke, I cringed when he said my name, there was something sinister in his voice. I walked quickly out of his office and to my room to start on Zane's request. 

ZANE POV

As soon as I walked into my fathers office and saw her stood there my hands started sweating but it was when her eyes caught mine that my heart leaped out of my chest, I stood at the door as I didn't trust myself to go closer to her. Listening to Camille speak and what Elle had to say I knew it wasn't her fault but I knew my father would expect me to reprimand her in some way. After, explaining what should happen I left the office and went to my room to get the old alarm clock to drop off to her room before leaving for a much needed run to clear my head. 

ELLE POV

When I arrived at my room there was an alarm clock on the side of my bed plugged in and the time set, I walked over to the makeshift desk and sat down with the cookbooks, pen and piece of paper an hour later and I had the order list prepared along with the meal plan for the week and the pages for the recipes marked so it would be easy to find when I need to check them. The next 45 minutes I spent putting my clothes away and organizing the room since I didn't have many clothes and there wasn't much in the room it didn't take me long to make the room more comfortable and useful. Knowing there was only 15 minutes before I was expected upstairs I decided to leave early to avoid getting into trouble, when I reached the tp of the stairs I bumped into a middle aged woman with shoulder length brown hair and brown eyes, 'Ah Elle! There you are. My name is Mel I am Sam and Stacey's mother and the beta's wife' She said as she stuck her hand out for me to shake, so I shook her hand before she continued 'okay so I met with the principle today and we have got you enrolled in school. Your classes start at 9am and Finish at 4pm Monday to Thursday and finish at 2pm on Friday's. You are not signed up for any extra-curriculars yet although it is a requirement. You are expected back at the house in time to make dinner each day so i decided to leave the extra curricular for you to decide, I spoke to the alpha and you are allowed to choose 1 extra curricular from this list as long as it is in your time and doesn't cut into your work here therefore I suggest making use of the early finish on Friday's. Here is everything you need to know and Sam and Stacey will show you around on Monday just be at the door ready to leave at 8:45am.' Mel handed me all the documentation and school information before walking away. I looked at the clock in the hallway and realized Mel kept me occupied for a good 5 minutes. I ran to the office besides the kitchen and knocked o the door 'Come in' I walked in and met Camille and another older looking lady. 'Elle this is Sandy she is in charge of cleaning after we have gone through this and had dinner, Sandy will show you what needs cleaning and where everything is before you can retire for the night' I nodded at Camille in response before walking further into the room over to the desk. Sandy stood up from her chair next to Camille and said she will see us both at dinner before leaving the room, Camille motioned for me to take the seat next to hers. We spent the next half hour going through the meal plan I had made for the following week nd the food order before heading off to the kitchen to prepare dinner which didn't take long at all, in fact 45 minutes later it was all prepared and dished out in the dining room where everyone apart from Zane was seated. 

As promised after dinner Sandy showed me where all the cleaning supplies were kept and handed me a Rota that explains what needs cleaning and when, she took me around the Packhouse showing me where everything was and what would need cleaning, before telling me of the additional jobs I will need to do as well. By the time Sandy had finished and I had returned to my room I was exhausted, I decided on an early night so I have enough energy for tomorrow as I walked down the steps to my room but when I got to the bottom I noticed a cardboard box on the bed. I slowly walked over to it and found a note on the tp that read 'I went through your stuff to see what you need so you do not mess up in the future! I have put together a box of things that you are going to need for school and to take care of yourself. Other than that do not ask for anything, do not get into trouble, do not speak to me and do not get in my way. Zane.'  I was so confused by the letter but I appreciated the thought at the same time. Once I opened the box I found a set of notebooks and pens for school, a blanket and pillow, a first aid kit and some sanitary products as well as some extra t-shirts that were way to big for me a hoodie and some hair ties. I smiled and put all my new belongings away in their respective places before whispering a thankyou and climbing into bed for a full nights sleep.

ZANE POV

After my run through the woods, I checked the time on my Phone and noticed I had been out for two and a half hours, I decided to head back to the pack house to get ready for dinner. When I arrived and entered through the back service door I had to pass the door to Elle's room I know I shouldn't invade her space but I needed to, so I snuck into her room and took a look around, this girl had nothing. While I was on my run my father had mindlinked me to inform me that she will be attending school with us on Monday but looking around she has no notebooks or pens, she has barely any clothes and only one set of pajamas, I knew my father had no plans to take care of this girl and for some reason my body reacted to her. I decided to get her what she needs and stay away from her, she is only a maid and therefore she needs to stay in her place. I left her room to get what she needed and put it in her room before she returned and then left again to find the two girls she came with. Around 8pm I headed to the kitchen to get a snack and noticed her entering her room I waited a minute before following her halfway down the stairs, I saw her reading the letter that I had left behind before opening the box and digging through it, she smiled and it lit up the room making me smile in return, I turned to leave but before I could get anywhere I heard her whisper a soft 'thankyou' I panicked thinking she had caught me on the stairs so I looked back at her to explain, only to find she was putting her stuff away and hadn't seen me at all. I left her room, got my snacks and headed back to my bedroom, back to Stephanie to forget all about Elle.
