I slowly turned around,my lips curling into a smile that didn't reach my eyes.
“ What? Are you disappointed that I didn't die five years ago?” I scoffed.
“ Raven…” Asher called, his voice soft that I momentarily closed my eyes, imagining his voice calling my name as we made love.
Shaking my head, I cleared those sick thoughts off my mind.
After the pain and betrayal, how could I think of that?
“ Do you wish to kill me now with your hands, asher? But it's not in your hands to decide my life and death anymore.” I spat, not bothering to conceal the raw hatred u felt for him.
Yes, I hated him more than anything in the world.
I watched with satisfaction as his hands clenched into fists.
“ Are you sure about that?” Asher asked, suddenly breaking into a sinister smile as he stepped towards me.
I stepped back and before I knew it, I was trapped between the wall and his sturdy body. His body scent wafted into my nose and my wolf purred in delight.
I cursed inwardly and tried to push him away but he would not bulge.
I could feel my wolf's excitement as she tried pushing to take control.
What a damned thing that stupid mating bond is.
Valen was right. With the mating bond still not broken, facing Asher was a wrong move. Despite the burning hatred in my heart, nothing could stop the attraction my wolf felt towards Asher's wolf.
“ What are you doing?” I asked, glaring at him but Asher smiled, a triumphant look on his face.
“ Five years ago, I had control over you Raven. Five years later, I still do. Don't think just because you escaped my clutches you can continue to be arrogant. I can crush you with my legs.” Asher said and I trembled in fear.
That gaze…
It was enough to chill my heart.
“ Is that true? I never thought Alpha Asher likes threatening women.” A familiar yet unfamiliar voice rang in the air and a murderous aura filled the air making Asher step back.
A few metres away stood a man, slightly tall and stronger than Asher.
A Lycan?
That thought flashed in my mind but I pushed it away.
Lycans and werewolves have always had a grudge so how could a Lycan attend an Alpha meeting?
But with his strong and almost oppressing aura, what else could he be?
“ It's none of your business what I like or don't like to do.” Alpha Asher replied gloomily but the man didn't seem to get angry, only showing a slight mark.
“ Is that so? Even when the woman you are threatening is my wife and Luna?”
The man lazily said and this time, asher showed a hint of surprise.
The man's words made me frown.
Wife and Luna?
When did I become someone's wife? And I don't even know about it?
After the surprise in Asher's eye wore off, he burst out laughing.
“ I didn't know that the lycan king has a tendency of picking up discarded things and treating them like treasure.” Asher mocked.
Although I knew that nothing good could come out of Asher's mouth, hearing his words made my heart twist painfully and I clenched my fists.
The next thing I saw was a figure flying past me and slamming against the wall before slumping on the ground. Asher let out a groan, obviously in pain. With the intensity of the kick, I could swear Asher had a few broken ribs but I didn't care. It serves him right.
Asher struggled to stand only to be pushed down by the man as his shoe stepped on Asher's stomach.
“ I don't care how much of a scumbag you are but calling my woman names is my bottom line. You better keep that in mind.” The man warned, his voice domineering.
He turned around and walked towards me, a smile adjourning his lips.
“ Are you okay?” Only after touching my cheeks and his words reaching my ears did I recover from my little trance.
Damn! That smile was blinding. I almost got lost staring at that beautiful smile.
I moved back, avoiding his touch.
“ I'm fine.” I stuttered, my eyes staring at him warily.
“ Good girl. I'll see you soon.” He said before leaning closer and whispering something to me.
My eyes followed him until he disappeared and only then did I recover, my eyes darkening from his words.
DAMIAN POV
“ I can't believe you showed yourself to her. I thought you wanted to protect her in the shadows.” My beta, Noah, said immediately I stepped inside the room.
“Sometimes, it's good to give a direct warning to stray dogs.” I answered, my mind wandering to the shocked expression she had when I declared that she was mine.
‘In due time, you will be mine Raven and nobody will dare hurt you again.’ I thought.
“ Ain't you afraid that your move will alert the prey? If that happens, it will be difficult to protect her. Who knows what evil plans they have hatched against her.” Noah expressed his concerns but I just scoffed.
“ He is arrogant. He won't abandon his grand plan just because I declared she is my wife. Everyone knows that I don't even have a fiance talk less of a wife.” I replied. Knowing that bastard, he would never believe that Raven found someone more powerful than him.
“ Besides, her So-called beta would know if she has any relationship with me. Rest assured, no one will realize anything.” I ascertained.
“ What about that woman, his chosen mate?” Noah asked and I shook my head.
“ Don't interfere. She is the main trigger. That's her fate.” I replied.
I would not care less about anybody else's life, only my mate's safety matters.
“ Damn! That man is heartless. How can he bear to treat her like that? She is the mother of his son.” Noah grumbled but I ignored it. As long as it didn't affect me, I would not get involved.
“ Keep track of everything happening here. I'm going to find my mate.”
