CHAPTER5

TITLE: NOT KIDDING

“You must be kidding right, you're not gonna abort this baby,are you?”Emily asked, giving me a very angry stare but I didn't care. I couldn't be pregnant for a man I barely know,I just can't.

“I didn't bring it up for discussion, you're my friend and you know how I got into this mess,it wasn't planned for. How do I explain to everyone my baby daddy is David Powell? They'll think I've gone mad or something.”

“Are you really bothered about what people will say? And you've forgotten about yourself and your health? I do not preach abortion.”

“I'm gonna get it done and that's final.”

She walked me to the doctors office but refused to go in with me. I could tell she was really angry and barely holding in her anger.

I knocked on the door and walked in. “Hi doc,can I speak with you, just for a few minutes?” I asked.

“Sure, please sit.” He said, pointing towards the seat as I planted myself on it.

“So I really don't want to keep this baby,I'm opting for an abortion.” He stopped what he was doing and adjusted his glasses before shaking his head.

“Why? Aren't you happy about being pregnant? It's something everyone would be happy about.” I smiled and looked away.

“I just want an abortion, tell me when you can get it done and we won't have to talk about this anymore.” He nodded and sighed.

“Well, you're well on your way and abortion at this stage could prove futile there by endangering your life. It's not advisable.” I shook my head cause I wasn't understanding what he was saying.

“What do you mean? I really don't understand you.”

“Abortion at this stage won't be possible you've passed the possible stage for abortion and if you go on with it,you can lose your life.” I stood on shaky legs,my eyes were going in circles but I struggled to walk out of the office and immediately Emily wrapped her arms around me.

“What's wrong,why the tears?” She asked as I swallowed hard.

“I cannot go on with the abortion, he said it can endanger my life and I'll lose my life if I try to get rid of the baby.” Emily smiled, pulling me along with her till we got to her car.

“It seems the universe is working in my favor today,you cannot get rid of this little angel okay?”

“You're really happy about this but I'm dying slowly,how can I bring this little human into this world without having a clue about the father? I'm going to be termed as irresponsible and what? Oh my goodness. Lina,Lina,she's going to have every right and every opportunity to taunt me.”

“And what are we here for? We'll trash her,you don't have to worry.”

“Have you tried calling his number again? It could be a glitch from the network or something,you never know.” Rachel asked, serving the bowl of spaghetti in front of me but I wasn't moved to eat it. It's been three days since I found out I was pregnant and two days since I started dialing David's number but it hasn't gone through.

“A network glitch? For the past two days? Come on tell me another lie,tell me something else not this story that so obvious, it's clear before our eyes.” She sighed and looked at me.

“You should keep on trying,let's see if it'll __”

“I told y'all he wasn't ready to get in touch with me that's why he gave a dormant number, something that's not in use.” I replied bitterly,the tears threatening to spill out as a clog blocked my throat.

“You didn't try to get in touch with him,no text,no calls,not even a beep. I guess he got tired and moved on to the next person without thinking twice.”

“Maybe.” I replied nonchalantly, lifting the spaghetti with my fork and dropping it back into the plate.

“Still you have to be strong for your baby,you just have to get on your feet and keep your life moving okay?”

“And when people ask for my baby's father,what am I supposed to say? I don't know him or he ditched me for a more pretty girl? Who'd believe I was pregnant for a certain David Powell? Oh my goodness.” I palmed my head and shook it.

“I'm just gonna have some rest and think of the next thing.” I said and stood on my feet. “You didn't touch your food.”

“I do not have an appetite.” I replied and disappeared around the corner, heading to my bedroom.

“You've spent more time than necessary here,you should be back at the clan don't you think?” Cole asked as David groaned. He'd been expecting a call or a text from Daniella but nothing came,not even a beep.

He was hurt because he'd been drawn to her the minute he saw her, everything about her was beautiful and alluring he couldn't deny the fact that he was really attracted to her but she hadn't called she hadn't texted and it broke him.

“Are you still waiting for her call or for her text? it's been four weeks and she hasn't bother to link up with you I think you should give up.” Cole said and David stood on his feet.

“Of course, you're right. Did you destroy the SIM the other day?” He asked and Cole nodded. He had been angry about Daniella not calling or texting and he took his anger out by telling Cole to destroy the SIM and now? He regretted it.

“Yeah I destroyed it,come on the jet is waiting. You have a meeting with the elders in two hours and we can't keep them waiting.” With that,he walked out of the room, pushing every single thought about Daniella away.
