Chapter 1 Anna
I wasn't up to go out with my girls but with the promotion coming up at work I needed to release the stress. I look down to see Hannah text "Be ready in 10 almost to your place." Well ready or not it is time to enjoy my self, Hannah would be devastated if I didn't have fun. Our usual hang out was The Radio which is a fun little bar down town. But when we want to release stress we end up at Joe's bar in mid Town. It felt different tonight I wasn't sure if it was that we came on a Friday night or the strange man behind the bar that looked familiar to me but couldn't figure it out. "Anna!" Hannah yelled from the dance floor waving me to come dance. I got up and ran to her as we danced for what seemed like hours, but then it hit me it was him aged 10 years but it was him. I couldn't breath. Anna. Anna! Hannah yelled as I fell to the floor not knowing what to do. Everyone rushed around me to see if I was okay all I could get out was I need air. Hannah helped me up to walk outside to get fresh air it hit my face I could breath again. Her words faded in, Anna are you okay? What happened in there? All that came out was, Hannah its him I know it is. Who? She looked puzzled Jackson the name just fell out like butter havent spoken that name in 10 years and all she could do was look at me in disbelief. I told her I would never speak his name after what he did to me our sophomore year in high school. Are you sure? Yes I'm sure he is the bartender we never saw before when we walked in. How am I supposed to face him? Not after all these years I never thought he would come back to our little town why, why now, why all of a sudden. We sat outside for 30 minutes just trying to take it all in but all I wanted to do was go home and hope this was all a dream. I spoke I would like to go now can we? I asked Hannah as she looked at me with her puppy dog eyes. Yeah you don't have to ask me twice. As we walk in to the bar I look up and we made eye contact all the more for me to grab my stuff and go. Finally we get to the car as I go for the door handle I hear it his voice I freeze. I can't move I can't even turn around it shocks me I still remember all the things he used to say to me when we were fifteen. Hannahs voice snaps me out of my daze Anna! she shouted finally I take a step back and turn around. His eyes blue as the ocean the scar right above his left eye where the dog down the street got him. The only words I could speak was why, why could you leave me without a word? How could you? I opened the car door and got in. I was ready for this night to end. The ride home was silent all I wanted to do was forget what was going to be a good night to fade as I slept. Hannah words stung a bit as she stopped the car. How could you just say all that without an answer? I look at her with regret in my eyes and said, Hannah I loved him with everything I had and seeing him after 10 years with no explanation back then I couldn't wait for an excuse to come out of his mouth. Nothing he could have said would make any of this better or even take us back and start all over. The day he left is the day I regretted giving my all to him. I just couldn't go though that heart break all over again you know what it did to me. I got out of her car and went inside without changing I laid in bed and fell asleep.
