Ye aik hospital ka reception tha jahan woh khari Shanzay ke kamray ka pooch rahi thi.
Aisha ko is se koi problem nahi thi. Ussay pata tha ke sab kuch usay khud hi karna hai. Aaj doctor sahab ne usay jaldi mein bulaya tha, woh usay phone par sab kuch nahi bata sakte thay.
Shanzay ke kamray tak jate hue usay raste mein hi Amjad sahab mil gaye. Dono ne aik dosray ko dekh kar sir ko kham kiya aur baatein karte hue aik sath Shanzay ke kamray mein daakhil hue, jahan chaar nurses Shanzay ka khayal rakh rahi thi.
Abhi jo Shanzay ki haalat hai woh neem behoshi wali hai. Aisi haalat mein mareez coma mein chala jata hai ya kuch dair tak hi zinda reh pata hai. "Hum apni poori koshish karenge ke usay kuch na ho," Amjad sahab bol rahe thay aur Aisha coma wali baat par ruk gayi thi.
Aur kuch sochte hue woh Shanzay ke qareeb aayi.
"Uska dimaaghi problem... uska kya? Woh to har ek ko pehchanne se inkaar kar rahi hai, yahan tak ke khud ko bhi!"
Ab Aisha ka dhiyan doosri nurses par tha jo baar baar Shanzay ko dekh rahi thi aur phir machine ko, jaise koi tabdili aayi ho.
"Haan, woh yaad-dasht ka kuch problem hai. Is ke liye dimaag ko recover karna bohot zaroori hai..." Baat adhuri thi...
"Doctor sahab, doctor sahab!" Achanak ek nurse ne unhein pukara to unhon ne chonk kar nurse ko dekha.
"Kya hua? Sab theek to hai na?" Amjad sahab ghabra gaye thay.
"Abhi kuch dair pehle Shanzay ki saansein tham chuki thi, lekin jaise hi ma'am aur aap andar daakhil hue to kuch tabdili hone lagi," nurse bol rahi thi aur Aisha ki jaise kisi ne jaan hi nikal li thi. Usne sunne ki koshish ki ke nurse kya keh rahi hai.
"Sab sahi to ho gaya, lekin ab kuch samajh nahi aa raha... Aap please isay check kar lein is se pehle ke isay kuch ho jaye," nurse ne kaha.
Aisha sun si wahiin khari rahi. Jab doctor check kar ke us ki taraf aaye to usay tab hosh aaya ke woh kahan khari hai. Woh apni ek ghalti ki saza bhugat rahi hai. Usne sar ko jhatka aur suna jo doctor sahab keh rahe thay.
"I am sorry..." Amjad sahab afsos se keh rahe thay.
Aisha ka dil chaaha ke woh bhi yahiin apni jaan de de. Woh apne aap ko kabhi maaf nahi kar sake gi. Woh kaise itni lambi umr jiye gi? Usay mar jana chahiye tha.
Doctor ne uske kandhon ko chooa to usne sar utha kar unhein dekha...
"Shanzay coma mein ja chuki hai."
Thandi hawa uske munh se nikli.
Woh behosh hone ke qareeb thi. Ek nurse ne barh kar usay pakda. Sama dhundla sa ho chuka tha. Doctor aur nurses kuch bol rahe thay lekin woh sun nahi rahi thi.
"Mujhe chor kar mat jaye baas, mera aap ke siwa aur koi nahi hai..." Shanzay ke aakhri alfaaz uske kaanon mein goonjne lage.
"Aap kaun hain? Main kaun hoon?"
Ek aur jumla goonjta raha, phir sannata cha gaya. Sab kuch kaam karna band ho gaya tha...

It was the hospital reception where Aisha stood, asking for Shanzay's room.
The receptionist gave her the room number and quickly returned to her paperwork.
Aisha had come straight from the office today—
Just like she had for the past several days.
Because of the rising number of patients,
and Shanzay being taken home and brought back again and again,
her room kept changing.
But Aisha didn't mind.
She knew she had to do everything herself now.
Earlier that day, the doctor had called her in urgently—
He couldn't explain everything over the phone.
As she walked down the hallway toward the room,
Mr. Amjad crossed paths with her.
They exchanged respectful nods,
and walked together into Shanzay's room,
where four nurses were attending to her.
Shanzay was in a semi-conscious state—
Too weak to be discharged,
yet too unstable for full treatment.
In cases like this, the patient often slips into a coma...
Or only survives for a short while.
"We'll do everything we can to keep her stable,"
Mr. Amjad was speaking softly,
but Aisha had frozen at the word "coma."
She slowly stepped closer to Shanzay,
still lost in thought.
"What about her mental state?
She's refusing to recognize anyone...
even herself!"
Now her eyes were on the other nurses,
who were glancing back and forth between Shanzay and the monitors—
as if something had changed.
"Yes... there's definitely a memory issue,"
one doctor began,
"and her brain needs time to recover..."
But his sentence trailed off—
"Doctor! Doctor!"
Suddenly, a nurse called out.
Everyone turned in alarm.
"What happened? Is everything okay?"
Mr. Amjad rushed toward her, concerned.
"Just a few minutes ago... her breathing had stopped.
But the moment you and ma'am entered,
something started shifting..."
Her words made Aisha feel like the air had been sucked from her lungs.
She strained to hear what the nurse was saying.
"She's stable again, for now.
But something's still not right.
Please, check her again—before we lose her."
Aisha stood frozen in place—numb.
Only when the doctor turned back toward her did she blink,
realizing where she was.
She felt like this was her punishment.
She shook her head to snap out of it—
And finally listened to what the doctor was saying.
"I'm... sorry,"
Mr. Amjad said softly, regret in his voice.
Aisha felt like collapsing.
How could she live with this?
She could never forgive herself.
How could she possibly survive such a long life with this burden?
She should've died instead.
The doctor gently touched her shoulder,
And she slowly raised her head to look at him...
"Shanzay has slipped into a coma."
A cold breath escaped her lips.
Her knees gave way slightly—
She was on the verge of fainting.
A nurse rushed forward and caught her.
The room blurred around her.
The voices of the doctor and nurses faded into the background—
She wasn't listening anymore.
Only one voice echoed in her mind...
"Don't leave me... please.
I have no one else but you."
And another...
"Who are you?
Who am I?"
The words echoed like haunting whispers in her ears.
Then—
Silence.
Everything stopped working.
