He was a white wolf with piercing grey eyes. He was staring into my eyes, evaluating me. I kept his gaze, I showed no weakness. Weakness will get me killed. He spoke through the mindlink to everyone.
"What is your name?"
"Raven" I spoke back.
"Raven, I was informed you were caught trespassing. I was mindlinked by Owl, the lead hunter. He informed me about your crimes, and I spoke through him. I offered you a place in the pack. You accepted. You will now be part of the pack, you will live and die for the pack, and you will care for the pack. Do you understand?"
"Yes, Alpha."
"Meeting dismissed. " He broke the link with everyone in the pack except me. "Raven come with me and we will eat, and you will tell me about yourself." He started to run to the staircase, stopped at the bottom for a second, and started to walk up it. I followed, looking forward to my first meal in days.
His den was warm, and in a corner was food. He led me towards it and let me pick a piece of the deer first. Eating first is an honor. He asked me to tell him my life's story. I told him about my parents, but kept their mantra out of the story. I told him about my years alone, and soon came to the snare trap mishap. I told him about it and he nodded, as if he understood. We talked for a bit longer, and soon I had finished my meal.
" Raven ...your my mate." he started to say. I was instantly shocked. "Me? There must be a mistake-" he cut me off. " I know that now. When I saw you in the clearing I suspected. But now I know. I was meant to find you."
Millions of thoughts danced in my head. There must have been a mistake. Sure, he was a year or so older than me, a perfect match, but I couldn't believe that. I couldn't be that lucky.

She was denying the fact that I am her mate. I could almost hear what she was thinking. Even talking through the mindlink has it's faults. She is upset, I could feel her doubt, it felt like falling through ice. I severed the mindlink to give her privacy. Her eyes were closed and her black pelt was bristling.
I understood why she was named Raven. Her fur was as dark as a moonless night. She was the complete opposite of me in color. Fate must have a sense of humor, my name means sky and she was named after a bird. I walked up to my bed and laid down, I had decided to give her space. She needs it right now.
