Perrie's POV
I'll never forget the day I first laid eyes on her, and the huge lump that blocked my throat and rendered me speechless in the exact moment. My mouth got dry and my palms got sweaty. She was beyond beautiful, and I was drawn to her like a magnet. She was a masterpiece.
There were only two things wrong with my reaction to her. For one, she was my step-brother's girlfriend, and two, I've never been into girls. Or at least admitted to myself that I have. I think my mom would have a fit. The fact that she was dating my step brother had gotta be against some kind of code, but I didn't even care. There was something about that woman that caught my eye and never let it go.
I was lying on the couch in my ripped jeans, white cami, fuzzy socks and messy bun watching Netflix when I heard Jimmy yell from the bathroom, "Hey Perrie, I'm getting ready to have company so can you disappear?"
I rolled my eyes and ignored him. He could be such an ass. Even though I've been away for college, it's summer break and I'm back home. I live here just like he does, and if he wanted to make another one of his random chicks think he has his own space his lazy ass should go get it.
This time he poked his head around the corner with a towel wrapped around his waist and a toothbrush hanging out of his mouth and shouted again. "Hey loser, go away! I'm having a chick over!" Never mind the fact that it was almost 7pm and he was only just now getting out of bed, he was really annoying me.
"I don't care, Jimmy. I live here too! You need to take her in your nasty room if you want to be alone!"
I could tell he was getting annoyed, but I didn't care. I shouldn't have to hide in my own house so his dumb ass could screw some random chick.
"God, you're a b***h sometimes." He yelled one last time before slamming the bathroom door.
"And you're a bum." I said to myself as I continued munching on potato chips and watching tv.
An hour or so had passed and Jimmy was now fully dressed and wearing so much cologne that it had me choking on my chips all the way in the living room. I can't believe he's 25 years old and too broke to even take a girl outside of his bedroom at least.
I also couldn't help but think of all the girls who pass through here. What kind of self-respecting woman would come all the way here to sit in a musty room with a guy who couldn't even afford to buy a clue?
I finally decided to get up off the sofa and make myself dinner. Since my mom and his dad were away on vacation, Jimmy and I were left to fend for ourselves. While I was perfectly fine on my own because that's how I lived in college, he was like a child who needed constant supervision and someone to cook his meals.
I decided on something simple. I made shrimp and pasta. My favorite. By the time I was done eating and back on the sofa, the doorbell rang.
"Perrie, would you get that?" Jimmy yelled from his bedroom. He sounded like he was running laps in there, as he was probably trying to clean up as quickly as possible.
I mumbled a few choice words under my breath and walked over to the door. The bell rang once more before I swung it open, a bit too forcefully, only to be met with the most beautiful pair of milky chocolate eyes I've ever seen. My breath caught in my throat.
Suddenly, despite the 90 degree weather we were having, I was frozen. My feet wouldn't move and my mouth wouldn't open, but my eyes were well aware of the absolute goddess in front of me, and wouldn't stop drinking her in.
It was like I was in one of those nightmares where you're screaming at the top of your lungs but no one hears a sound, or when you're running full speed to escape something but you're not really moving. I was stuck.
I honestly don't even know how long I stood there and stared at her, but it must have been long enough to make her uncomfortable, or for her to get tired of standing outside and that's when I heard her speak.
"Hi, I'm Jade. I'm here to see Jimmy. Is he around?"
Silence.
"Do I have the right house?" She continued, double checking the address on the house and beginning to get confused.
I simply nodded. At least I could do that. It felt as if I was knee-deep in quicksand.
"Do you mind if I come inside? It's really hot out here." I watched her wipe a bit of sweat off her forehead before I finally broke out of the spell she had unknowingly cast on me. My cheeks immediately went red.
"I-I'm sorry. P-please come in." Great. I sound like a bumbling i***t. I stepped to the side to let her in and she gave me a cute little smile as a thank you before walking through the door.
Who in the hell is this woman, how in the hell did Jimmy meet her and why does she already have this effect on me?
As soon as she was inside and I shut the door, I turned around only to see that gorgeous smile again. "What's you're name, beautiful?"
She couldn't have been talking to me. I looked over both my shoulders to see if anyone else was standing there, even though I knew there wasn't.
"You, sweetheart. I want to know your name. If that's alright." She let out a giggle and it was probably the sweetest sound I've ever heard.
I turned tomato red again. Suddenly I didn't know my own f*****g name.
"Perrie, was that Jade?" I heard Jimmy yell from his bedroom.
That's it. It's Perrie.
"Yeah!" I yelled back, never taking my eyes off the brunette beauty.
"Perrie. That's a lovely name. It's a pleasure to meet you, Perrie." She extended her hand for me to shake.
Twice. She said my name twice, and it never sounded so sweet.
Somehow I managed to snap out of my trance, just in time for Jimmy to come flying out of his room. I took her soft hand in mine and shook it, my eyes never leaving her beautiful brown orbs. She had me captivated. "The pleasure is all mine, Jade."
And it was.
"Come on, Jade. Let's go in my room." Jimmy ushered Jade in the direction of his bedroom and for a second it looked like she was hesitant to go. For some reason she didn't strike me as "that" girl. The one that Jimmy always brings home.
An hour passed and I was no longer watching TV, it was watching me. I couldn't stop staring at Jimmy's door and thinking about Jade. I was enamored.
Suddenly, I found myself wanting to know everything about her. From the literal five minutes she's spent in front of me, I could see that she was smooth and sweet, and oh so sexy. Why she was in there with him, I couldn't understand.
While I was deep in thought about who the girl was behind the door, suddenly it started to creek open. I saw Jade peek her head out before stepping outside and quietly closing it.
"He fell asleep." She said dryly as she plopped down on the sofa across from me. Disappointment oozed all over the room.
God, she's a dream.
I couldn't wrap my head around how beautiful she was and how the hell she ended up here with Jimmy. It was crystal clear that this woman was out of his league. Like way out.
"You don't say much, do you?" She tilted her head to the side in the cutest way, as if she was really trying to read me.
Little did she know, I was focusing all of the energy I had on not staring at the way her black cami hugged her body, and how delicious her thighs looked in her shorts while she sat across from me. I think I was failing miserably, though.
I noticed everything about her. Even if I didn't want to. It was as if this was the first and last time I would ever see her again and I wanted to commit everything about her to memory.
Why the hell is she with Jimmy?
She looked perfect, especially in the dim light of our living room. Her outfit was simple but it fit her curvy body like a glove. Her light brown hair flowed down over her shoulders in loose bouncy curls, and her makeup wasn't dramatic, it was just delicate enough that you could clearly see how beautiful she was underneath. She also smelled like a dream.
(We all know, but let's imagine Perrie can smell ?)
From the moment she stepped foot across my doorstep I've been intoxicated by her, and it's only gotten stronger since she sat across from me.
I mentally kicked myself for being so dumbfounded. She seemed like a sweet enough girl, trying to have a conversation, and here I've only spit out two sentences. Neither of which I believe even made any sense. None of the girls Jimmy brings around even pay me any attention. Not that I ever really cared.
I saw her shifting in her seat. She went to get up and I blurted out a little louder than I would have liked to. "DONT GO!"
I'm pretty sure she smirked before she sat back on the couch, crossing one leg over the other.
Did she do that on purpose?
I spoke up again. "Jade, I'm sorry. I'm a bit shy and awkward." More like a lot shy and a lot awkward. She had to be used to people behaving like this around her, though. She was just way too hot. I couldn't maintain my composure.
She went to get up again and I sighed. I thought she was going back to Jimmy's room but I was pleasantly surprised, and a little terrified when she came over and sat on the sofa next to me.
She put a hand on my knee and it sent chills up my spine. It felt like fireworks shooting off on my veins. I've never felt that before from just a simple touch, from anyone else in my life.
"You don't have to be shy around me, Perrie. I don't bite. Unless I'm asked nicely." She smirked again at the last part and gave me a little wink. The way my stomach fluttered at the thought, I knew right then I was in trouble.
"Thanks." I replied nervously under her intense stare, twiddling my thumbs. "So how long have you known Jimmy?"
"Just recently, but I don't really want to talk about your brother. I want to know more about his cute little sister." She slowly removed her hand from my knee and crossed them in her lap. I mentally cringed at her leaving out the step- part. Truth be told, Jimmy and I have never really been close, but this beauty definitely got a pass. If she was trying to fluster me she was surely succeeding.
"I'm actually quite boring." I replied looking to the floor.
"Oh, I highly doubt that." She replied, her eyes never leaving mine. Her gaze was making me weak. "Do you work?"
"No, I go to school. I'm just home for summer." I replied.
She looked intrigued. "If you don't mind my asking, what are you studying, and how much longer do you have?"
I was taken aback by her interest. "Um well it's my last year, and I'm majoring in dental hygiene."
"A dentist, huh?" She asked. "I could use a new one." She flashed that gorgeous smile of hers. Please.
"Your teeth are perfect." I blurted out without any thought.
There I go with the word vomit.
She smiled even wider.
"I- I just meant that it doesn't look like you need any dental work." I quickly grabbed my bottle of water and started gulping.
It was getting hotter in here by the second. I felt her body heat radiating in my direction and it was burning me up.
"You're very sweet." She said, her smile quickly turning into a sexy grin. She then uncrossed her legs and sat up straight on the couch. "I foresee a cavity or two in my future."
Excuse me?
The water I was pouring down my throat decided to take a detour when she said this and I started to choke.
Is she flirting with me, or am I only hoping she is?
She opened her mouth to say something else but was interrupted, and looked mildly annoyed when Jimmy came running out of the room.
"Jade, I'm sorry I fell asleep on you and you had to keep yourself company with this snooze-fest." He said gesturing to me.
I had finally calmed myself down from all of the choking just in time to blurt out. "f**k you Jimmy!"
Jade laughed. A sound I was growing to be quite fond of.
"No worries, Jimmy. Perrie here is actually quite entertaining." She gave me a wink and quickly scanned me from head to toe, before standing from the couch.
"Come back to my room, we can chill." Jimmy said, sounding quite desperate to be honest.
Jade glanced at me and I just looked down at the floor. "Be right there, babe." It took her eyes several seconds to peel away from me.
"Okay." Jimmy replied. I was disgusted at the thought of him even touching and tainting something as beautiful and pure as Jade was.
"Goodbye, Perrie." Jade hummed with a smile. My name was a song on her lips and I loved it.
"Bye Jade." I replied smiling, and blushing when she stared a little bit longer than necessary.
And with that she disappeared into his room, the sweet smell of vanilla still lingering around the couch (again... imagination lol). I sighed and slouched a bit.
Wtf is happening?
I heard Jimmy say something that I'm sure was dumb, but Jade burst into laughter. I loved the sound of it, but just not when it was from Jimmy.
What the hell is this that I'm feeling for this girl already?
