The Alpha's Object

For every person there is an untold story. I don't really know how to explain it, but that's the truth. I suppose I should start from the beginning? My name is Jade Hanson and I am clearly not what you would expect me to be. No? Should I indulge you then? Well alright, if you insist. I walked around the backyard of the giant mansion we lived in, making sure that I kept my head low and kept myself away from others. It wasn't that I didn't play well with the other members of the pack, but it was more the fact that I shouldn't have been there. I had been away at a boarding school for the last two years and by that, I mean I was in the middle of nowhere dreading the next time I blacked out during a shift. Listen, I should probably explain myself a little better. I'm a werewolf. Weird, right? Two years ago, I shifted for the first time and it really didn't go well. I blacked out, something which was uncommon for us, but the horrors didn't stop there. I went on a killing spree. I killed three humans before I was subdued by the Alpha and afterwards, I practically begged for them to send me away, to get me to go anywhere else. It was the right thing to do. But that was then and this was now. Speaking of now... Today was my eighteenth birthday, along with the birthday of my rat of a twin brother, Jax. If there was one thing that you needed to know about my brother, was that he was most definitely a player. He liked the attention he got from hanging around the Alpha's son, but now that we had matured today, it was time that he started to take it down a few notches, because today would be the day that he found his mate. Just like me.... I sighed in annoyance as I moved through the thick crowd, the music that was playing from the stage my only ticket into knowing that I was going in the right direction. You see, my brother and I aren't just normal werewolves, far from it actually. We're the children of the current Beta, Ace Hanson. Which meant that both Jax and I were eligible for the next Beta position. If there was one thing that you needed to know about the future Beta's, is that neither one of us was prepared for tackling the future, no matter what it contained. My vivid green eyes traveled up to the stage where my brother was positioned as he slammed away on his guitar. The music was loud here, but then again, after hearing him play for the first time in two years, I would gladly suffer the consequences, after all, he had improved significantly since I had last seen him. But Jax wasn't the only one to capture, nor hold, my attention. Actually, I wouldn't have been ashamed to say that I didn't notice my brother at all after I noticed him. Blonde shaggy hair fell into his midnight blue eyes, and I could see every muscle in his lean body twitch with concentration as he played a riff in the song. His long, slender fingers traced delicately, but expertly over the nylon strings and envy washed over me. Oh, how I wish he would have paid me that much attention. His skin was a brilliant golden hue, probably gained from his undoubtedly endless days out in the summer sun, soaking up what was left of the hot rays of golden light. But that wasn't the most intoxicating part. His scent overpowered me, turned my knees into jelly. I inhaled deeply, the smell of pine and chocolate met my nose and instantly my eyes snapped to him. My heart hammered away in my chest and my breathing became erratic and hard to slow. But when I realised just who it was that was driving my wolf wild inside of me, s**t literally got real. My mate was the Alpha's son...
