10. Twisted Control

Dr. Freya looked stunned for a second. Her lips parted slightly, but no words came out right away. Then she slowly shook her head and said, "I’m sorry, but… I can’t help you with that. I’m here to treat you, Leah. I don’t have that kind of authority to make decisions like that." Leah gave a small nod and let out a quiet sigh. She wasn’t really surprised. Deep down, she already knew the answer. No one here was going to help her escape. But that didn’t mean she would stop trying. She couldn’t give up. No matter how nice they acted or how well they treated her, she knew nothing in this world came without a price. People always had hidden reasons behind their kindness. She still remembered everything Miguel had said after her mom died. How he had promised to take care of her. How he had said she was safe with him. And for a few days, she had believed him. But soon, his and his son's real face showed. They turned her into something less than human. A thing. A s*x slave to their sick desires. They hurt her in ways she never thought possible. In the end, they took everything from her. And now? Now she wouldn’t let that happen again. She couldn’t. But even with all her strength and determination, there was still this tiny voice inside her. A scared, small part of her that whispered, 'What if her suffering never ends?' Lean felt like Misfortune would never leave her alone. She didn’t understand. What sin had she committed to deserve a life like this? Why her? Why was she the one struggling to survive while girls her age were out living their lives, laughing with friends, going to school, wearing cute clothes, and dreaming about their futures? And here she was just trying to survive the lust of men who only saw her as something to use. "How is she now, doctor?" The deep, cold voice suddenly broke the silence, and Leah snapped out of her thoughts. Her eyes quickly turned to the source of the voice and it was him. Damian walked into the room with quiet but strong footsteps, and the moment he entered, it felt like the whole room changed. His presence brought some kind of heavy air, like everything just froze for a second. He stood tall in front of them, full of power and authority, like he was the one who controlled everything around him. Leah’s breath caught in her throat as soon as his eyes landed on her. His stare was sharp and deep, like he could see right through her. Her cheeks suddenly turned hot, and she quickly looked away, squirming a little where she sat. That gaze of his made her feel weird, and she didn’t like how it reached deep into her core like fire crawling under her skin. And as if things couldn’t get worse, the kiss from last night popped into her head. Her heart skipped a beat and she bit her lip, trying to push that memory far, far away. Why did it feel like he had this strange power over her body even when she didn’t want it? "She is fine now," the doctor answered his question while writing while flipping through her notes. "But there is still pain in a few parts of her body. You must bring her to my hospital as soon as possible." "What about tomorrow?" Damian asked, his eyes still locked on Leah’s face. The doctor nodded. "It would be much better. We can then begin her further treatment." She finished writing something on her pad, stood up, and smiled at Leah. Damian, however, was still staring at her. Leah could feel it even though she was trying her best not to meet his eyes. And he was getting annoyed at this point as she stubbornly avoided looking at him. "Well then, Leah… see you tomorrow. You can rest for now," the doctor said kindly as she gently patted Leah’s hair. Leah slowly got up and walked to the bed, trying not to stumble. She laid down without a word, her chest still tight from the strange feeling of his eyes burning into her skin. She turned her back towards them, hoping they would both leave soon. Then the doctor looked at Damian with a serious expression and quietly said, "Can we talk outside?" Damian frowned and rolled his eyes a bit. "What is it now?" he muttered, but still followed the doctor outside. Once they were in the hallway, the doctor took off her glasses and let out a long sigh before speaking. "Last night, I checked her physical condition," she began. "And obviously, we both know how much pain she’s been enduring… not just from the abuse, but also the beatings." Damian didn’t say anything. His face stayed the same, serious and cold. The doctor continued, her voice more concerned now. "But today, after talking with her, I felt like… her mental condition isn't well either." Damian frowned right away, confused and trying to understand what the doctor was saying. His eyebrows pulled together as he asked, "What do you mean by that? She doesn’t seem crazy to me." Dr. Freya shook her head slowly. "It’s not insanity. It’s something else," she said seriously. "And I can’t confirm anything unless I’m sure of what I’m assuming. For that, we need to do a DOPE test on her." Damian’s eyes widened, totally shocked. He hadn’t expected anything like this. "Was she… drugged?" he asked quickly, sounding even more alarmed. "Maybe," the doctor said with a sigh. "It can also just be my assumption. But there’s a high chance that she was being drugged. We’ll only know after the test." Damian didn’t say anything. His face stayed frozen, but his eyes were full of rage. He looked like he was about to explode, and Dr. Freya could feel the heavy tension in the air. She decided to leave him alone for now and started to walk away. But before she could reach the stairs, she stopped and turned around. The doctor knew it wasn’t really her place to say anything, but she gathered her courage and spoke again, this time more carefully. "Damian… I don’t think she wants to stay here willingly," The doctor said, looking right at him. "She told me to help her leave." Right away, she noticed the way Damian’s jaw clenched tight. "That’s none of your business, doctor," he snapped, his voice suddenly cold and harsh. "I decide where she stays. Not you." Dr. Freya froze. She felt nervous. It was the first time Damian had ever spoken to her like that. "I… I… mean…" she tried to talk again, stuttering. "She’s way too young, Damian. You can’t force your decision on her like this just to keep her—" "That’s enough," Damian interrupted, clearly irritated. "Who do you think you are, trying to tell me what to do or what not to do? I hired you for a reason. That reason is to make sure Leah gets well. And once she does, I will decide what happens next. So don’t try to act like her guardian angel. Understood?" Dr. Freya nodded quickly, swallowing the lump in her throat. She didn’t want to argue anymore. She still remembered the little boy Damian used to be just a few years ago. But now, he didn’t seem like that boy at all. He seemed like the scariest man she’d ever met. "Ye… Yeah… see you tomorrow then…" she whispered, then turned around and left the house without looking back. Damian stood there, watching as she left. Slowly, a cruel smirk formed on the corner of his lips. He wasn’t going to let Leah leave. No way. Not now. Not ever. Every time he looked at her, Leah seemed more tempting. He knew the lust he had for her hadn’t hit its peak yet, but that didn’t matter. It still wasn’t going to stop him from having her. He had the power, the control, the supremacy that made morality seem like a joke. And there was no escape for Leah. Not until he got got her taste and devour himself into her. He was determined to destroy anyone who tried to take her from him and make sure she belonged only to him and no one else. To start with the first person on his list, Damian pulled out his phone and called Chris. "I want Ander to be captured by tonight," he ordered coldly as soon as Chris received the call. "And bring him to Spain by tomorrow." "Yes, boss," Chris answered. "I’m sending our force to France."
