Shattered Dreams as Heaven and Larry divorce
Chapter 1: A Sparkling Start to Shattered Dreams
The New Year’s Eve party at the prestigious Lumière Villa was an opulent affair. Golden fairy lights adorned the sprawling gardens, while elegant chandeliers hung over the main ballroom, casting a warm glow over the guests. People dressed in shimmering gowns and tailored tuxedos sipped champagne as the evening crescendoed toward midnight.
Heaven Weston stood by the edge of the balcony, gazing at the dazzling fireworks display that lit up the Parisian skyline. She felt the weight of the secret she had carried for weeks and the flutter of excitement in her heart. Tonight, she would tell her husband, Larry, that their family of two would soon become three.
Her hand rested instinctively on her stomach, her mind already picturing the joy on Larry’s face. He had always spoken about being a father, his eyes lighting up with dreams of teaching their child to ride a bike or read stories by the fireplace. She had waited for this moment, chosen the perfect setting, and tonight was the night to share the news.
Larry appeared behind her, holding two glasses of champagne. His cologne mixed with the crisp winter air as he leaned in close, his presence both familiar and intoxicating.
“To us,” he said, handing her a glass.
“To us,” she replied, her voice trembling with unspoken excitement.
They clinked their glasses, and Heaven turned to face him fully, her green eyes sparkling under the cascade of fireworks. “Larry,” she began, her voice soft yet firm, “I have something to tell you. It’s something wonderful.”
He raised an eyebrow, a playful grin spreading across his face. “What is it, love? Did you finally beat me at chess?”
She laughed nervously, clutching his hand. “No, it’s bigger than that. Larry, we’re going to have a baby.”
The words hung in the air like a delicate crystal, and for a moment, Larry’s expression froze. Then, a slow smile broke across his face, and he pulled her into a tight embrace. “Heaven, that’s amazing!” he exclaimed, his voice filled with genuine delight.
Her heart soared. She had imagined this moment a hundred times, and it was everything she had hoped for. As the countdown to midnight began, they joined the crowd on the terrace, her hand in his, their future brighter than the fireworks above.
But dreams have a way of shattering.
The countdown reached its crescendo, and cheers erupted as the clock struck midnight. Couples kissed, friends hugged, and the world celebrated the dawn of a new year. Heaven leaned in for their kiss, but Larry was already distracted, waving to someone across the room.
“Just a moment,” he said, letting go of her hand and weaving through the crowd.
Heaven followed his gaze to a tall brunette in a sequined dress standing by the bar. She felt a pang of unease as Larry approached the woman and struck up a conversation. Her laughter rang out, loud and flirtatious, cutting through the ambient noise of the party.
Heaven tried to dismiss the knot tightening in her chest. Larry was naturally charming and outgoing; it was one of the things she loved about him. But as the minutes ticked by and he showed no sign of returning, her unease deepened.
She walked toward him, her steps hesitant but determined. As she approached, she overheard snippets of their conversation.
“So, what brings someone as stunning as you to this party?” Larry asked, his voice dripping with charisma.
The woman giggled, brushing a strand of hair behind her ear. “Well, I could ask the same about you.”
Heaven’s heart sank. This wasn’t the Larry she knew. Or was it?
“Larry,” she said, her voice cutting through the moment like a knife.
He turned, his expression caught between surprise and guilt. “Heaven! I was just—”
“Flirting,” she finished, her tone icy.
The brunette excused herself quickly, sensing the tension. Larry reached out to touch Heaven ’s arm, but she stepped back.
“You couldn’t even wait until the end of the night?” she said, her voice trembling. “We just celebrated our future, and now you’re throwing it all away for... her?”
“It’s not what it looks like,” Larry protested. “I was just being friendly.”
Heaven shook her head, tears brimming in her eyes. “Friendly doesn’t look like that, Larry. You made me feel invisible tonight.”
The rest of the evening was a blur. Heaven spent the ride home in silence, staring out the window as tears streamed down her cheeks. Larry tried to apologize, but his words felt hollow, like empty echoes in a cavern. Heaven nodding her head in disguise.
When they reached their apartment, Heaven went straight to their bedroom and shut the door. She stood in front of the mirror, her reflection a stark reminder of her pain. The joy she had felt earlier that evening was gone, replaced by a hollow ache.
In the days that followed, she withdrew. Larry’s attempts to mend things only deepened the chasm between them. One evening, after yet another strained conversation, Heaven opened her laptop and drafted an email to her lawyer.

Revenge in Silence
Heaven wasn’t one for dramatic outbursts. Instead, she channelled her pain into quiet determination. She didn’t need to scream or shout to make her point. She would let her actions speak louder than words.
She started by boxing up Larry’s belongings, neatly packing away the remnants of their shared life. Every photo, every memento, was a painful reminder of what they had lost.
As she slid the ring off her finger and placed it on the nightstand, she felt a strange mix of sadness and liberation. This wasn’t just the end of her marriage; it was the beginning of her reclaiming herself.
Heaven made one last decision before she filed the papers. She would attend Larry’s upcoming office gala, not as his wife, but as a woman who had nothing to lose and everything to gain.
