The Night Everything Changed
CHAPTER 1
Eliana’s POV:
The light at the top of the stage illuminated my graceful silhouette, I danced like no one was watching but the thing was everyone was watching.
The men sat in the crowd, their hungry gazes racking my form from top to bottom. I did a slow dip for the crowd, my barely covered ass exposed in the air and the men went wild. I gave a flirty smile, throwing a wink in the direction of one.
By the time my little dance was over, there were a lot of dollar notes that littered the floor of the stage. After the last part of my performance, I gave a bow and threw a kiss to the crowd. Some sounds of protests followed, but I didn't pay mind to it, as I went to the inner suite to change.
“My Darling Eli, you are just the one I am looking for.” I looked up to see Mrs Anderson moving towards me with a smile gracing her features. I embraced her tightly.
“Hello my darling ma’am, you give me too much credit for what I am not,” I said as I squeezed her once again.
We separated, but she didn't leave me. She held my cheeks, a look of admiration in her grey orbs. “Please Eli, take your flowers. This place would be a wreck without you, we both know it’s this beauty and charisma that keep the men coming,” she said as she dragged my cheeks and caressed my hair.
“Well then I learnt from the best, didn't I?” I said as I dramatically flipped my hair. She could not help the laugh that escaped her. “Well then, this is telling you that you are doing extremely well. In fact, you have outshone the best,” she said as she raised her hand dramatically, her Russian accent spilling out.
I laughed once again, seeing Mrs Anderson after a stressful day was always the highlight of my night. She was always glowing, and so full of life as she commended my performance for the night. I didn't know how to tell this old kind lady in front of me that she had saved me from becoming a demon, she had saved me from myself.
“Eli?” Mrs. Anderson’s voice interrupted my thoughts. “Yes?” I answered, focusing on her soft face and kind smile. “I was saying we have to lock up for the night, before our special ritual of bebop tea,” she said, as she placed a hand on my forehead.
“A penny for your thoughts, lad? You are too young for your mind to wander like this,” she said as she gave me a concerned once-over. I shrugged it off, “I am fine ma’am, you worry too much. Let me lock up and then we can have our tea.” I said as I steered her towards a seat.
“You just sit here and remain pretty okay, ma’am,” I said as I helped her to sit, squeezing her knees before I left her.
“Eloise.” Mrs. Anderson said, stopping me in my tracks, “Hmmm?” I asked, feigning confusion. “Call me Eloise. Don’t act dumb Eli, I have known you since you were a tweeny scrawly teen, and yet you've refused to address me by my first name, why?”
I sighed as I moved back towards her, kneeling at her feet. “We've talked about this before ma’am. You are significantly older than me, and you're also my boss. Now that is settled, I would lock up and we would have that tea, we talked about.” I said as I squeezed her knee once more.
I stood and moved towards the front door to lock it, but I never got the chance. Muscular men dressed in black forced their way into the club with ease.
I didn't step back. I planted my feet, shoulders squared, my eyes locked on the one who stood in front, he looked like their ring leader.
“We are closed,” I said flatly, as I crossed my hands in front of my chest. “You missed the last call. Unless you are here for something else.” I said not hiding the bite in my tone.
The one who looked like the ringleader finally spoke, after giving me a condescending once-over. I realised I was still in my costume from the club, which was a flimsy turquoise material that supported my breasts and connected to my ass, the material was revealing in such a way that it didn't leave anything to the imagination.
I wasn't perturbed, I stood my ground as I stared them down, “Move along young lady, I am looking for a certain Mrs.Anderson.” their ring leader spoke as his eyes moved over me staring at the far corner of the room, where Mrs.Anderson sat oblivious to the men who had barged into the club like they owned the place.
One began to advance towards her, but I refused as I shielded her from them using my body, “Take one more step and I would beat you up so badly, your colleagues would not recognize you.” Was I bluffing? Not really, if living on the streets had taught me anything, it was beating the crap out of men who were built exaggeratedly big.
I looked around me, there were 8 men in total. I saw a bulge under the pocket of one, this meant they were armed. The first one attempted to throw a punch, but I was at a better advantage, I dodged him by sending a punch to his gut.
Another one came in his place, but I was still faster as I kicked him where the sun doesn't shine. He let out a low growl of frustration.
“Shut up you f*****g bastard.” but it was already too late, because the noise had gotten Mrs. Anderson’s attention.
“Oh dear,” she said from the other side of the room. As she stood with great difficulty, advancing towards us.
“I am handling it ma’am, stay back.” I breathed hard as I attempted to throw another punch, but I was so tired. I had been dancing for 8 hours, so I had no strength left in me.
I was unable to dodge the punch that came flying my way, I held my nose as the force pushed me hard to the floor, before I passed out I heard a sentence that rang warning bells throughout my entire system. “We have come for the club deeds Mrs.Anderson. The boss says I should either bring the deed to him with or without your signature.” With his last words ringing in my memory, darkness swallowed me whole.
