Prologue
Do you ever feel as though you are terrified over uncontrollable occurrences? Including growing up, maturing and becoming adults? That is pretty much the one thing you cannot run away from. Everyone, well, at least me, wishes they could escape it. Time flies, time also sometimes seems to be so slow you can literally feel the minutes passing you by. In those moments I think, I hope I do not live long. For, I could feel every minute of my life, by the time I am 50 it will feel as though I am one million. Furthermore, time, the theoretical dimension is undecided on many levels, to conclude my nervous rant.
This story is about me and all my stupid mistakes as an adult in my 20s. I wish I could go back to life before high school, because now life streams flows of constant boring familiarity. My name is Cordelia Lee Grace Desiree. I know right what a long name. You can thank my lovely and wise parents for that one. People call me Leah or Gracie the majority of the time.
The beginning would have to be when I was traveling abroad for school with my closest pals, Cameron (Cam) Wallwrin and Esme (Es) Green. After backpacking through most of Europe, Asia, and Southern America, coming back to the USA has been a bore. There we had non-stop adventure and diverse new culture. Now I suppose it is a new type of chapter creating a story, rather than a memorable endless adventure.
When we came home we spent a two month period with our parents, and living our old life, siblings and all in the good old Ocean State. Proceeding that, we were westward bound. Cam, Esme and I finally settled in a little apartment in SanDiego, California. Together, we, the three musketeers were flatmates; or in other words nerds-mates.
Total we have spent three years in this flat together, this also includes with the annual adventure and visit home to Rhode Island. We need two trips because honestly besides visiting family who wants to go the Ocean State in which we have lived in for slightly less than two decades. However, it is important to note that Rhode Island/New England will always be our special place called home.
In the first four years of college Cam and I have gotten cars (me a jeep and her a little Suburo) and Esme got a midnight blue motorcycle. Cam went to school for graphic design and is now interning at Travel Insiders for their marketing and design. Lucky for her, she is right under the head of her division. To celebrate I made her caramel-chocolate galore for treats; Esme brought the movies and entertainment. To make ends meet she works at a franchise near where she works called Books and Coffee, but also doubles as a babysitter.
Esme attended college for journalism and the arts. She just finished her internship and is now working as a paid employee. My thoughts are- Thank goodness we are poor! We celebrated by going to an art gallery and playing truth or dare with candy and chocolate cake. Since then, she no longer works at Books and Coffee, but we are all frequent visitors.
Finally, I went to the same college majoring in neuroscience for the most part. I am attending medical school this fall. When my friends heard that I got accepted to the best medical school on the West Coast, we had sweets, tons of food, movies, books, games and everything a cheesy nerdy girl would love. Currently, I am working as a babysitter, dog sitter, and in a local business called Jane's. Jane's is a college kid's dream, and Books and Coffee competition. At Jane's one can find the geekiest books, the oldest and most recent films, coffee and drinks, fresh food, games and more. We are friends with the owners, who give us a 40% discount. Hopefully, soon I will be a neurosurgeon soon; however, I have learned the hard way, the best things go to those who wait.
We graduated this past May 6th and we geeked out all night. We learned more about each other, our foreign boyfriends we had, our fears, imaginations, dreams, et cetera. It is also known as GGNI/ Geeky Girls Night In. As our survival gift, we all decided to get a dog. We compromised as I have always wanted a husky. However, they a German shepherd. Our solution was a mix that was two years old, we decided on the name Jackie, short for Jacqueline. Although she belongs to all three, and we mostly share her equally, she prefers me. No one loves her the way I do in her defense, Cam and Esme are more like the cool close aunts.
