It was late at night when a tremor of fear awoke Kendra. Out in the corridor a bright light was flickering and she could smell fumes from a flaming torch. Without even a knock, a man she didn't recognise walked in. She gasped and her first reaction was to pull the blanket over herself to hide. Second thoughts made her realise this was futile so she grabbed her nearby coat, left there on purpose after her encounter with Brian, slipped it on and stepped out of bed.
"What do you want?" she demanded in an ice-cold voice.
