Chapter one
BIBIANCA The pack's hall was filled to it's brim, with many faces some of which I didn't know. Alphas, and highly placed members of different packs were in it. I have attained many ceremonies in this hall, but none was as glorious as this. I stood in front of the crowd, with my mate Lucas, flashing a smile each time my eyes went in contact with those whom I was close to. My best friend Elis, sat beside my brothers who were frowning and whispering to each other. They had turned from loving to hating me, after they knew I was mated to an alpha, it didn't bother me. I was getting married and mated to the first love of my life, the soon-to-be alpha of Bold moon pack. When we first realised our mate bond, I thought Lucas would reject me, because I am an omega, and the weakest amongst my mate, they'd always bully me, I felt too little to hold such strong position as Luna. But he loves me amidst those shortcomings, he warded off those evil bullies, he gave me love, more than what I'd ask for. And today, I will be joined with him in matrimony, and be the Luna even though bullies like Calsey and Hamil wouldn't be in support, and unfortunately I didn't see Calsey, I wasn't expecting her anywhere. "Do you, Bibianca Valvero on this sacred day, in the presence of the moon goddess and these witnesses, take Lucas Dimitri to be your mate, loving only him, and forsaking all others for the rest of your life." The custodian of the pack read from the book that was opened in his hands, his voice echoing from the speakers positioned on every corner of the hall. The excitement left my heart, almost reaching for the ceiling. "Yes." I nodded smiling ear to ear. "I do." Everyone applauded, Lucas' mum was smiling back at me, and nodded in approval, her voice played in my head when she once told me 'you'll make a good Luna, Bibianca.' My eyes went to Lucas, who stood in front of me. His countenance was unusually cold, his full brows furrowed, his jaws clenched, I could see his jawline knifing out of his short beards. He was avoiding looking me, his golden brown eyes, the charm he uses against me was looking at something else, or probably lost in his thoughts staring at my face, and whatever he was thinking, he wasn't happy about it. He didn't even hear when the custodian asked him the same questions he asked me. The custodian cleared his throat. "Lucas." He called when he didn't seem to come back from his destination of thoughts. His eyes rolled in its sockets, and widened in confusion. He stared at me and took the eyes off immediately. The custodian read the words again, taking his eyes from the book to Lucas' face at intervals. I looked at his face, my eyes fixed on his. He was quiet for a while. Murmurs filled the house, people were dragging their feet, the noise from the mic and the speaker. My heart was about to pop open. "Babe?" My voice was almost lost in my throat. I tried not to think of being abandoned in front of all these people. The night prior to the wedding day, he was all over me. He showered kisses on me, from my head to my feet, he told me how much peace I brought him, so I was sure he'd still choose me here. He shoved his hands off my reach when I leaned forward to grab them. "No." He said softly. Like he didn't want to say it. He looked at me with a scowl and scoffed. The custodian took the mic closer to him. "What did you say?" "No." His voice resonated from the speakers, the scowl changed into a frown. "I can't have this pretending murderer as my mate." He gave me the once over look and took his gaze off me. My breathing slowed. The excitement that filled the faces of the witness switched to shocks and surprises. The murmur grew into an uproar. "What are you talking about?" "Come off it, you can't pretend you don't know the beta is dead." He threw his face back to the custodian. "I have a new bride, you'll join us today." "I don't know anything about this death." My voice was as it's most gentle tone, and truly I had nothing to do with it. I tried to hold him, to let him see the sincerity in my eyes, but Lucas wouldn't let me touch him. Calsey emerged from the other front door opposite me. She walked majestically upto the aisle, passed me smile, accompanied by a wink before she fixes her hands where Lucas has prepped open for her. I looked at my friend before giving myself to the floor, flat on my back. I thought I'd die or faint, but I didn't, I was still here. Someone else would have replaced me, not Calsey. Elis ran to help me, she helped me seat on the floor, heavy tears of shame and heartbreak ran quickly down my cheeks. My brothers were just there, Lucas' parents frowned at me. There was no one who'd support me, other members stared at me with pity. Lucas just made the end of me. While the soldiers were dragging me out, his voice came from the speaker. My heart stopped, when he called my name. I didn't turn, just stopped, still keeping my face lowered, hoping he'll say it was all a joke. "Bibianca, I Lucas, do reject you and the bond between us." I kept thinking of the sweet moments we shared, his kisses, and how Calsey held him, the tears kept pouring. I sat on the cell floor, my knees propped and back leaned against the wall, my head tilted upward. I kept reading the inscription on the wall 'you will burn' at intervals. A pencil heeled sole approached the cell I was in, the guard that stood left. I carried my face, and it was Calsey, so I dropped my face back down, I kept my face firm, and strong, even if she felt my sadness, she shouldn't see it. "Oh Luna." She said with a mocking voice. "I told you, you can't have him, you can't be Luna, you didn't believe. You needed to see how he rushed this." From my side eyes I noticed her pushing her heavy boobs upwards with both hands. "He was starved. You kept him for? Oh, wedding night." She laughed, mocking me. "What do you want Calsey?" My heart was running fast, alongside my temper. "I came with an offer, as old time friends I won't be happy to see you burn on the stakes tomorrow." She bent down so her head and mine are in the same level. "No one will believe you if you stay here, and you'll die, whether or not you are innocent. So I can let you run." She whispered. No, I can't run, if I do, it'll prove I'm guilty. But if I don't, I'll die, without having a chance to find out what happened to the beta, and taking my revenge on Calsey. If I run, I won't come back here, then how would I have my revenge? One way or the other, I made up my mind. I ran through the forest, no pack would accommodate me, almost all the alphas heard I am a traitor. I ran in the direction I learnt was the human world. I continued the journey when the day broke, after a short sleep with scary dreams. I heard distant twigging of thin branches and crushing of dried leaves. Someone was chasing after me. I ran faster, and got weaker. A man appeared from his hiding position, from behind a tree trunk in front of me. He grapped me off my feet, squeezed so hard that I couldn't escape the grip. My legs were kicking in the air, and he didn't flinch. I knew my death had come, there's no escape indeed for me.
