As soon as she was settled back on the hospital bed, still panting from the painstakingly slow trip up the steps, she was informed that the doctor would be visiting her shortly before she was officially allowed to be discharged. That should have, by all accounts and purposes, been exciting news for her. But after her little field trip outside, she realized how unprepared she was for maneuvering in the world outside of a controlled environment. She didn’t have her own transportation, which meant she’d have to rely on the public bus. She had no idea where her personal belongings were. Did she even have keys to get into her apartment?
