Chapter Two

Within a short time I have read the book on how to be brave. At this time, I have enough knowledge and strength on how to tackle things and how to confront any beast or person.

I took the second book 'how to be powerful'. I read about a magician in a forest of transformation and it's mighty works. I have heard my father and his uncle talking about the magician sometimes back. I discovered so many mysteries in the book. To be empowered one need to go to the magician in the forest, the forest is so dangerous to the extent that only few people survive when going their to be empower.

At this point am thirsty for power and am ready to sacrifice anything to be empowered.

After reading to some extent, I covered the book and went to my uncle's place to ask me some questions about the forest. I decided not to tell my father because he won't explain anything to me.

Going to the forest might be dangerous but staying home with those that hates me is more dangerous. Everyone is expecting the manifestation of my power. if some people see me they mock me especially those that know about the prediction. Though, there is no war at the moment but I need to be empowered before the time to command respect.

I went to my uncle's place like a hungry lion who has not eaten for many years. I roars inside of me. A new me has emerge. The boldness as come in me and I could think about is power.

I got to his house, I saw him immediately I opened the gate to his place angrily, he was extremely surprised to see me.

"My prince, what are you doing here?" He asked.

Without hiding my intentions and feelings, I told him why am in his place.

"I need power!" I replied.

He laughed me manically thinking that I was joking. This dude can never be serious he thought. He paused, look into my eyes again and laugh for another seconds.

"I know you to be a good comedian since the first you were born to this family" he said

Yes, everyone knows how lazy I am when it comes to things. He must be thinking that how can this lazy dude thinks of power does he know what it takes to be empower!. I could read his mind.

I looked at him and shouted at him as if I was going to attack him.

"Stop laughing and show me the way forward!" I said authoritatively.

He looked into my eyes and was surprised, he has never seen the boldness in me before. It's like the beast in me is coming up. He stared at me for a moment thinking if am serious or joking but I wasn't laughing like the way I used to laugh with him. He knows something is wrong with me.

He called me in to discuss with me. Not in his main room it was a small place he designed to have some rest beside the entrance of his house. I followed him and we sat close to each other. I didn't bother greeting anyone not even his children. All I wanted is to be empowered and nothing more.

"Why did you think you need power?" He asked looking at me with the same level.of seriousness in me.

"I don't know why but all I know is to be empowered" I replied him.

He looked at me for some minutes not with surprise but seeing the boldness in me for the first time in my life time.

"Tell me more about the Forest of Transformation and the magician?" I said before he could say anything else.

He turned to my side with a great shock. He wondered how I get to know about the forest of transformation. I knew what I was asking for and talking about the forest make him to be more surprised.

Only few children of my age knows about the danger and the goodness in the Forest. Parents always advised their children not to follow anybody to the place because the place is full of beast. They only talks about the danger but the goodness in the forest is for those who want to be empowered. I got to know about the goodness when I started reading the book.

He turned to me and asked.

"How do you know about the magician in the forest?" He asked speaking with a low voice with a mix of surprise.

No one talks about the magician. Infact some elders don't know about the magician in the forest.

I explained everything to him on how I read the book.

I told me more about the magician.

"There's no one that sees the magician and won't be empowered" he said looking at the sky as if that's the magician dwelling place. I joined him in looking at the sky unconsciously..

After giving me some information about the Forest, he told me more of the danger than the goodness in the forest. Well, I don't care about the danger because if I refused to embark on the journey people will mock me the more even the unborn child is mocking me presently.

He advised me to think twice before embarking on the journey. I stood immediately ready to leave, I haven't taken more two steps when he asked me if the king is aware about what am about doing.

"No! I have not discussed with him. But I will tell him as soon as I get home" I replied.

He nodded is head in agreement. He looked at me as I was leaving his house like a cat paying attention the rat before attacking it.

Joy filled my heart as if I have gotten the power I needed but I know the new me has emerged.

I was close to my house when I see people running Helter shelter. The joy in me disappeared for a moment

'What is going on?" I asked myself.

I hide in a bush close to me. I make sure everywhere was calmed before taking my leave. I thought it was a war but it doesn't look like it.

I continued my journey to the palace. Where I noticed some people crying. I hasten my footsteps to find out what really goes wrong.

I moved towards them, I asked someone but the person was engrossed with the pain and sadness than talking to me.

"What has happened?" I keep on asking myself.

I was rushing home to tell my father about the incident but as i looked at the direction of my house from where I was I saw people gathering and crying.

I was perplexed. I moved towards the people. I saw my younger sister crying and looked towards the left direction when I saw my mother crying.

"What Happened?" I asked with the highest voice of my everyone could hear me audibly as if am holding a microphone.

No one answers me. I moved inside to see my father who will tell me the issue.

I saw some people beside my father holding him. They were wailing and crying. He walked towards my father direction and discovered that my father was lifeless.

He is dead! I cried like never before. The only one that trusted me is gone.

I cried as if the tears will bring him back to life. I left my father some minutes back but to get back to where I left him I found him dead.

I managed to ask someone about his death.

The person said he only coughed and they try giving him water and he lost his life in the process.

The king is dead and he won't return to us.

"Who will save our life from s*****y?" I asked.

The neighbor city must not hear about this else we'll be invaded. The mighty king is the one protecting us from their attack but who can we turn to?.

After my father's burial, I couldn't move freely because no one love me. It's now a do or die affair for me. I must go to the forest to save myself from mockers and also save my people from s*****y.

I was thinking about this when I saw one of the king's messenger disseminating an information he got from the elders forum.

He said the neighbor city has given us 30 days ultimatum to surrender or they invade our city once again.

The news make me sad. I went to my room, I took the staff my father gave me before his death then decided to go to the forest the same day.

I informed some elders about my move. They looked at me like an impotent man who has no effect.

Some tried to discourage me while some were in support of me. Not because they believe in me but because I don't have anything I can offer for my people.

I informed my mother and my siblings. No one cares about me. They all looked at me in a strange way. At least they had no benefits from me and they don't care what happened to me.

I took the staff and the book alongside with me.
