Preface
When innocence is provoked... it turns into a grudge.
A grudge that transforms into the venom of revenge creeping through the veins of its victims like a deadly poison. Mutating drop by drop ..Finally it either ends up killing you or changing your life forever.
Sometimes, the Change is good and you become a hero protagonist of your own world. But at almost all the other times it turns out to be the source of awakening the Devil inside of you. The side of you that you probably wouldn't even wish upon your enemy.
For me, it was unfortunately the bleak case...
The hot summer days when I would wake up frozen, cold as snow. In deep winters, when I opened my eyes up sweating all over. I remember vivid those days when I longed for death like a lover, but death would just turn its back on to me. I would beg not for mercy but for the pain to intensify beyond my threshold, for any way I could just be over with the life I didn't opt for myself. Those days where 24 hours seemed like months. I used to cry until I could no longer. The constant fear and mistrust I had on my own breath. I could see the rays of hope at the end of the tunnel but I couldn't move towards it. I couldn't...
But you know what? Everything has a limit so did those days... My suffering did come to an end.
Although I wouldn't precisely call it a happy ending. The human part I was trying to relive inside myself, finally accepted her fate. All my dreams, wishes, and hopes faded away one by one dragging me into the abyss until all I had left inside me was the fire of revenge.
If MY fate is with eternal darkness. So shall be the fate of the people who are responsible for it!!
In the bathroom mirror, I watched my pink glowing eyes turn bright red. Usually, I would miss my deep brown eyes but at this time red seemed to be the perfect color for them.
Hah! I smirked at my evil thoughts. Closing the water faucet, I turned around and pulled my hoodie over my face, slid my cold hands into my pocket, and started to tread out of my hideout, humming.
I wasn't scared at all. I didn't have anything loose now. If anyone has anything at stake, it was THEIR turn to pay for everything!
I walked down the street to the cab I had booked already, carefully opened the door, and sat in without a word or looking up. The engine started and we rolled towards the main block compound, where the town holds the great Halloween ball every year.
Not just the whole town but people from other towns in the vicinity also come to celebrate and enjoy the " horror of Halloween together". Lol! The horror of Halloween...
*Involuntary smirk*
I closed my eyes and leaned back on my seat clenching the pocket watch like a serial killer would cling on to their weapon....
