Once in the house, Chansa asked one of the men to mind link her husband. he was on the other end of the farm and after taking up the power of a wolf she was feeling a bit worn out and did not want to use up any more of her energy. she could hear him from a mile away. her husband was one of the biggest werewolves and since he sat on the council that power alone allowed him to have an even bigger wolf. once at the door he shifted into his human form and walked into the house.
once in the house he was hit by the smell of poop. and he was almost throwing up. honey what kind of mixture are you making up now, he frowned as he walked into the living room to find his wife changing a baby diaper. "there all done" she said before turning to face her husband. Hey honey he dodged the hug and said "not till you throw away that dialer". his wife walked away giggling. her husband had always had a soft spot for children but diapers were his kryptonite.
once her hands were washed she came back and hugged him from behind. he turned around and examined her. she smiled at him and he had a frown on his face. "what's wrong honey?" she asked. "why do you smell different, like a wolf?" he questions. Chansa burst into laugher as she watched her husband. from the day they met, he has always been protective of her and had a little jealousy in him. Chansa grabbed his hand and sat him down and told him what had happened earlier. her husband looked at the little girl and picked up the scent of a human. His eyes grew wide because all human children were taken to earth once born. and to find a human child this far from the border was not possible because they lived far from it. this meant she was a rebel baby or her parents heed her in hopes that her power would manifest. but he could not pick up even the tiniest scent to show she was going to be one of them.
"honey" Chansa called her husband who looked deep in thought. "where did you say you found the child again?" he questioned his wife. chansa explained to him again. Choolwe closed his eyes to allow his wolf chova to surface. Chansa knew that unlike her husband his wolf was able to sniff better than him. She picked the baby up if a child was born a wolf the presence of a supreme wolf would force the pup in the child to surface and bow. but the little girl giggled and touched Chova's face. he sniffed the child all over hoping to pick up anything that was completely human. and if she were a creature of any kind, she would have started to hear by now. but her leg was still broken. after taking in a deep breath he signed sat the child on his lap and healed her leg. once he was done he handed power back to Choolwe.
unlike most werewolves, chova and Choolwe had an understanding. they were equal and didn't need to fight for power. chova came out when he was needed and unless Choolwe stepped aside while he was in a heated argument he was not allowed to force his way out. Because of this Chova was one of the few wolves that got to enjoy being in human form.
Choolwe knew what his wife was thinking. but it was illegal to harbor a human child. it wasn't safe for the child nor the family keeping the child. because human children were viewed as weak.
"I'm sorry chansa, but we can't keep her". " why not? she has no one and we need a child, what if this is it? our blessing?" she replied. "you know the rules, they are in place for a reason," he replied. but we are part of the council and all council children are allowed to stay up to 7 years." she responded. but she isn't ours, how can we ask for such a thing from the king? it is not possible. please honey try to understand me" Choolwe pleaded with his wife.
Chansa walked to her husband without saying any more words and got the baby from his arms. she walked out of the room and went to bathe the little girl. in times like this Choolwe would hand power to chova so he can be destructive but at this moment chova was just as helpless. something about the child Drew him closer to her. "we have to protect her" "not you too chova, you know the rules. we could lose our position and power because of this." Is that all that matters to you?" " I would lose you too, it could kill me. you know that?" "just think about it," was the last thing chova said before handing back control to me.
I followed my wife's scent to the nursery we had set up just after we had gotten married in readiness for a child that never came. as I got closer I could hear them giggle as my wife tickled her. I walked in slowly not trying to disturb their fun but the moment the baby saw me she raised her hands and said "Papa up, papa up" I looked at my wife who gave me a nod, and I picked the little girl up and she gave me the warmest hug. i turned to my wife and asked "what shall we name her?" "really honey" "owh thank you thank you". she hugged me from behind. I mind linked her. telling we still needed the council to approve of this and if the didn't we might have to leave for Earth. a sadness washed over them thinking about Leaving there home for earth.but after being childless for a longtime it wasn't something they didn't consider.
