Prologue
The war came to an end. The rogue King was not entirely defeated but he lost most of his brave men and one of his K9 teeth; for a wolf that was one thing you needed most in a battle. A year after the war on 31st October, a baby girl was born in the far end of New Orleans to a very powerful witch named Alexa, from the original bloodline, and to a powerful Alpha from Europe named Dominic. Alexa was helped by a very well-known midwife in both the human and supernatural world. She was a half-fairy-elf, half-witch, named Malina. Malina was also known to be a powerful healer and she could see small parts of the past and future. She received the call to go help Alexa who was in labor. She felt quite anxious but for a good reason. Alexa had a hard delivery. As soon as the baby girl took her first breath, Malina saw how Alexa’s eyes went dark and empty. At that moment Malina had a vision. Alexa was cursed by a rogue witch. When Malina came out of the vision and saw the Alpha’s face. Right at that moment she saw that he knew why his beloved mate did not make it through childbirth. As Dominic held his daughter, he knew what the next step was. Filled with grief over the sudden loss of his mate, he handed his baby girl to Malina and disappeared out of the room. Malina sat there and held the baby girl while admiring her. The light brown hair and fair skin, but the thing Malina admired most about the baby girl in her arm were her big emerald green eyes with little speckles of ambers and shades of blue circling around her irises. Malina was taken by surprise when she had a vision of this baby girl. In this vision, she saw the girl as a grown woman that stood in front of a crowd wearing armor. The woman was ready for battle. She wore a small crown on her head and her glowing bright green eyes with bits of amber; which made her power known to everyone. Malina’s nose bled after the vision, she has never experienced so much power in a vision before. She wiped her nose with the back of her hand. As she looked up, the Alpha stepped back into the room holding a big envelope in his hand. Malina's eyes stared at him. He informed her that his baby girl’s name is Louella Alexa. Alpha Dominic also asked Malina to make sure that his daughter ended up in a good home with people that will love her as much as he and her mother would have. He handed Malina the envelope and instructed her that Louella should be given this letter when she was at the right age to understand what was in it and that there is also a letter inside that explained everything. Malina knew the wolf shifter community and their ways of doing things. So she stood up and gathered her things as well as a few things for Louella then left the house. As she walked to her car, she heard a gunshot and for a moment she felt sad for baby Louella. Malina was on the far end of New Orleans and the only person she would trust with Louella was in the France Quarter. This person was her younger sister Danika. She lived above her book and herbs shop. They were half-sisters and shared a mother. Malina decided to go home with Louella to make sure Louella was in good health but that was only an excuse. She needed time to think. The midwife had no idea how to ask her sister to take this baby in, seeing that they were not on good terms at the given moment. A day passed and Malina decided to write a letter to her sister explaining why she did it in the letter, she also informed her why Louella was important to everyone. Malina placed her letter of explanation along with Alpha Dominic’s letter on the blanket in the carrier with baby Louella in it. Malina gently lowered the baby carrier down in front of her sister’s shop and knocked three times before stepping away into the shadows. Then watched until Danika opened the door to Louella in the baby carrier and took her into the shop. A few weeks passed and Malina was relieved when she heard Danika adopted Louella. Malina knew that no matter their troubles, they would give their lives for one another. Malina was also relieved by the fact that Louella would be safe and loved, just like her father wished for in his final moments.
