The day it all changed: we are testament of our past
Four teenagers were seen walking towards their school compound. By the compound stood a beggar he stood there not begging alms from the kids which was strange. Grace one of the kids who was known for being observant stood a few feet far from the man "guys am I the only one noticing that mr golden isn't asking us for money but he is asking from the others" said
"Who cares he's just a poor beggar anyway" Daniel the most annoying guy amongst the friends said
"Your future lies in your past kids choose the right staff" Mr golden said like a possessed man. Daniel rolled his eyes and dropped a wad of money in Mr golden ancient pot. Mr Golden's eyes lit up and he said with full joy as usual "may your life be golden" well that is how he got his name Mr golden from the kids. Because of his phrase
Sophia sighed looking at Ethan's face as if to examine him. "Don't mind Daniel, don't let him ruin your mood" Ethan said trying to comfort Sophia but since he sucked at It he only earned a sigh from her. He four friends walked into the school compound then Sophia's sour mood improved drastically upon seeing the school's outing bus. "Do you know what this means???" Grace said squealing and tapping the grumpy daniels back
"Yes I do it means we are going to the annoying museum that's all about the ancient yoruba s**t" Daniel said
"Mind your tone" Grace said
"History is not only what happened. Sometimes, it's what refuses to stay buried. I read that somewhere" Sophia said
"Ugh whatever" Daniel said walking into the school bus
🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃
**At the museum**
It was supposed to be a normal school excursion.
Daniel hated museums.
He stared at the old bronze figures behind the glass and sighed.
"How much longer?" he whispered.
Grace rolled her eyes.
"You're the one who wanted extra credit."
Ethan was already taking selfies while Sophia quietly read the information on each and every ancient artifact.
"I swear, if I have to look at one more old pot, I'm going to lose my mind."
Daniel's voice echoed through the museum hall, earning a laugh from Ethan.
"You've been complaining since we got off the bus," Ethan said, raising his phone to snap another selfie.
Grace folded her arms. "Maybe if you spent less time whining and more time reading, you'd actually learn something."
Daniel rolled his eyes.
"History isn't exactly my thing."
Sophia ignored them. Unlike the others, she had wandered away from the group, stopping in front of a glass display at the far end of the room. Inside rested a strange bronze object unlike anything else in the museum. It was shaped like a staff, covered in intricate carvings that seemed almost alive.
A small plaque sat beneath it.
THE STAFF OF TIME
No date.
No explanation.
Just four words beneath the title.
DO NOT TOUCH.
Sophia frowned.
"That's... strange."
"What is?" Grace asked as the others walked over.
"Every artifact here has information except this one."
Daniel laughed.
"Maybe because it's fake."
Ethan leaned closer to the glass.
"It looks expensive." He replied
"Then maybe the staff members forgot to put an info on it" Grace said. "Maybe." Ethan replied stretching his hand towards the plaque.
Before anyone could stop him, he reached toward the display.
The moment his fingers brushed the glass...
Boom.
The lights flickered.
The museum fell silent. Eerily silent
Every screen went black. The air suddenly felt colder.
Then they heard it. Something like a talking drum saying " The kids who forgot their name......" Then another sound
A drum.
Slow.Heavy.Ancient.Boom.
Boom.Boom.
The sound wasn't coming from outside.
It was coming from inside the room.
The bronze staff began to glow with a golden light.
The carvings moved like flowing water.
Grace stumbled backward.
"Tell me you guys are seeing this."
No one answered.
"Guys something is wrong.... what if we die?" Grace said again
"Grace ....... Do not say something like that" Ethan said but his voice sounded so distant
A voice echoed through the darkness.
Deep.
Ancient.
Powerful.
"You who have forgotten the footsteps of your ancestors..."
The floor cracked beneath their feet.
Daniel screamed.
The glowing light swallowed them whole.
Then...
Everything disappeared.
