Moonbeams

Amber After I heard a voice telling me to rest, I woke up to find myself in a meadow. I felt so calm and at peace. The air smelled of fresh lily flowers and roses. I could hear the sound of water running so I got up and began to follow. I realized I didn’t have any shoes on, but the grass was so plush it didn’t even matter. I walked through the opening of trees and saw a creek. Then the most beautiful wolf I had ever seen caught my eye. Her fur was light gray and looked so soft. There was a white patch over her left eye and I loved it. She was a unique wolf for sure. I didn’t even know how I knew that this was a female wolf. I had seen my dad shift for the first time ever last night. I still didn’t know what to think or how to feel. I had so many questions as the reality of the situation began to hit me all over again. After everything that he’d been through Jamar finally broke. I couldn’t help but cry as I felt my emotions wash over me. As if she didn’t notice me before, the wolf turned and stared at me. Hi Amber. It’s so nice to finally meet you. Amari? I knew it was you! I thought back as I ran over to my spirit wolf. Since the grass was so soft and not itchy, we both laid down in it. Amari I can’t believe he rejected us. What are we going to do? I didn’t even get a chance to be his mate yet. How could he do that to us? I felt so hurt by Jamar. I understood that he felt like I should’ve told him as soon as I had the memory shift. But what good was I doing by hurting him even more? It felt like I would be kicking him when he was down and I couldn’t bring myself to do that. The truth had been revealed and Aliana showed her true colors. Do you remember what the Moon Goddess told you about your mate? Amari thought to me as she was resting her head in my lap while I sat up to watch the water. I stroked her soft fur and tried to calm myself. Amari? Am I dead? I thought to my wolf. When I looked down I saw she had fallen asleep. “Of course you are not dead my sweet! How would we be able to talk then?” I looked around to see a billowy white figure walking towards Amari and I. “Alafia?” I said in disbelief. No wonder I felt such peace despite the turmoil my life was in right now. The Moon Goddess had found me when I needed her the most. “Jamar rejected me.” I felt my eyes watering again and put my head down in shame. “To understand Jamar, you have to understand you first.” Alafia began to wave her hand and the sky changed. In the sky I saw two wolves. One was snow white just like dad, but the other was a deep reddish and brown color. I watched as they rubbed their noses against one another and their bodies together. Clearly they were mates. The sound of thunder cracked down to the ground before them and the white wolf immediately began protecting his mate. I watched as a strange woman emerged from where the thunder made the ground crack open. “My name is Eylura and I am a Lightning walker. We have watched you from the great skies. You two have served your masters well. Merrick and Luz please allow your humans to take over.” Merrick? Luz? The two wolves shifted and I saw the forms of my parents appear. Eylura waved her hand and clothes appeared on their bodies. Well thank the Goddess for that. “Azerin and Jelena I come forth to reveal the prophecy of your unborn child.” Eylura began to speak. My mother fell to her knees and put her face into the dirt. Why? “Eylura of the lightning skies, I cannot be pregnant. We have tried for many years and we have accepted the destiny bestowed upon us by the Moon Goddess.” My mom said. I wasn’t born yet? They tried for years? “We mean no disrespect to our Gods in the sky.” My dad said respectfully. “Stand up Jelena and remove your face from the ground. I have tested you both to see if you would curse the Moon Goddess because of your infertility. Both of you come before me.” I watched as my parents went and stood in front of the lightning goddess. “In due time you shall conceive a daughter. I must forewarn you of a great tragedy that will not only impact you, but your pack as well. Azerin you must be ready to become Alpha. I cannot speak of the events that will lead to this, but trust in your ability to lead and your mate will be by your side. Now I must tell you what has been prophesied over your daughter. She will be an extraordinary woman. The Moon Goddess has chosen your child to be a truth seeker. She will do great things for her people. At 17 her spirit wolf will manifest and be named Amari. Together Amari and Amber will usher in a new era of peace.” Alafia flicked her hand and the sky began to change yet again. “Wait! Why did my parents name me Amber?” I asked. “Because when you were born you were asleep. Your mother began to cry out to me and I heard her pleas. I waved my hand over you and a golden Amber glow came from you. Your aura is considered golden because of your heart. You’re not motivated by materialistic things. You would bend over backwards for someone which will sometimes lead to your demise.” The next image I saw was of my dad at his old office. His phone rang and he answered. My dad’s face began to contort and twist. “What do you mean there’s been an accident Rafael? A drunk driver? Where is Emir? Since he is the Beta, he needs to inform the council.” He got up and began to pace around the office as he took another call. “The council has been notified already? What are they asking us to do?” He stopped. “Step in temporarily? Where is Emir? His wife is in labor? Isn’t she early? Nevermind I’m on my way to the hospital. I need to call my wife.” This must’ve been the day Jamar’s dad lost his memories. My dad gathered his things and put them into his briefcase. Alafia and I continued to watch the scene unfold from the sky. He finally made it to the hospital and what I saw broke my heart. JD’s dad was all banged up. His head was wrapped in gauze and he had on a neck brace. One side of his face had a black purple bruise that covered his eye while the other side had dried blood. He looked really bad laying there in his hospital bed. “Alpha Jairo. I promise to find out who did this and make them pay with their life.” I heard my dad say. “That won’t be necessary. The council will act with swift and unyielding discipline.” An older but firm voice said as the door to Jairo’s room opened. “Elder Thomas. Thank you for coming so quickly.” My dad bowed to the older gentleman. “Azerin I appreciate your display of respect and humility. I must ask. Emir does not feel like he can lead the pack as well as you could with a newborn baby. We need you Azerin. Your leadership is invaluable. As your Alpha’s financial advisor and third in command, it makes sense. Through your advocacy with the humans and working in their town, we have prospered here. We need you to come back.” Elder Thomas stated. “My daughter has lived in a human town her entire life. I have missed our pack and soon her prophecy will manifest. I want to talk to Jairo before making a final decision, but I will move my family back. My daughter deserves to know about this part of her.” My dad said grimly. What? I turned to Alafia because I had so many questions, but she was gone. What do I do now?
