I couldn’t believe it! Jamar had finally texted me. I felt so silly because I had this mega grin going on. I felt like I could breathe a sigh of relief. Aliana had accepted Terrance as her mate and he had done the same. I get the feeling she’s not done being a thorn in our side. Amari thought to me. Why do you have to be so negative all the dang time? I really want to believe that we can all move forward without the extra bs you know? I replied to Amari. On one hand I understood completely. Aliana was not someone I could trust to do the right thing ever. She had already showed me that. But did I really have to continue to go tit for tat with this chick? I personally don’t think she’s worth any more of our time or attention.

I wasn’t trying to come off snobby, it’s just that I wasn’t for the drama. At all. I had to graduate and get accepted to college first. That was my primary focus and I wouldn’t throw that down the drain for Aliana. I had given JD a special ringtone so when I felt my phone double buzz, I smiled because I knew it was him.

I had only given my number to Laila, Mia, and Deshay. I know those skanks did not give out my number without checking with me first! My phone double buzzed again.

I about fell out of my chair. Jamar wanted to see me and apologize. But for what? It didn’t matter to me though because I was saying yes. But would my dad? I groaned, immediately knowing my overprotective dad would ask 1,001 questions. I opened the text to reply to Jamar.

Ugh! Please say yes dad and don’t be difficult! I was wondering if I should make something up, but quickly decided against it. My parents weren’t strict. They said they would trust me until I gave them a reason not to. I would just be honest and tell my dad the truth. I wanted to go on a date with JD and I would be back in an hour. Something told me it wouldn’t be that simple. I walked downstairs to find my parents in the movie room looking relaxed. “Hi mami, hi papi! Are y’all behaving in here?” I grinned and hoped my teasing would butter them up enough to let me go. “Uh oh Azerin, the princess called us mami y papi. You know she only does that when it’s something she really wants.” My mom said as we all started to laugh. I went and wedged myself in the middle of them just for that.

“Si Jelena ya se.” My dad said and I elbowed him. “How much does it cost mi Tesoro and why do you need it?” He began. “Well daddy it’s actually free! So even better right?” He raised his eyebrows at me. “I got asked on a date and I really wanna go. Please daddy? Pleaseeeee!” I begged and gave him my puppy dog eyes. “Who is this young man, nena?” My mom asked. “Yeah. I want to meet this little punk.” My dad said. Oh my Goddddddddd! I was getting ready to reply when Rafa walked in. “Good evening Alpha, Luna, and baby girl.” I grinned. I love Rafa like a second dad and he always took care of me. “You even got Rafa in on your plan? This must be some date.” My dad teased.

“A date? Baby girl knows not to even utter those words to me. I might faint.” Wow. These people that I called my family were really doing me in right now. “The flight pilot has arrived back in town and is at his house as we speak. Shall we proceed with calling a meeting?” Rafa looked at my dad. What meeting? “Yes. Invite Jairo and his family along with the pilot’s family. It’s time we make this transition. Also invite the Lopez family. I will have Melania cook us a meal.” “So no to the date daddy?” I said as I began to pout. “Not tonight, but we can talk about it again soon. Jelena I want you and Amber to be in this meeting as well. It’s important to me.” What about what’s important to me? I thought petulantly. My dad squeezed my hand while my mom gave me a kiss on the cheek.

“There will be plenty of time for love when you’re older mi Tesoro. Stay focused.” My dad and mom walked out to get everything ready for the packhouse meeting. I took my phone out of my back pocket and typed a response to JD.

Rain check? My dad is calling a meeting at the pack house and for some reason I have to be there.

I tried to play it off. I didn’t know how much Jamar knew about his dad or the role he played in this pack. I also didn’t know if Jamar knew that his dad would be taking over our pack soon. I wonder if knew that he was destined to become our next Alpha. So many questions were going through my head. I heard the doorbell ring so I guess that meant the first guests of the night had arrived. My mom and I made it to the door at the same time. I opened it to find Aliana shyly standing there. “What are you doing here?” I said.
