My mom’s reaction to us being summoned to the packhouse for a meeting with the Alpha made me nervous. Terrance? I thought to my mate. Hey baby I’m here. You ok? I instantly felt calmer. Still nervous, but at least I could get up and get dressed. I’m kind of nervous to be honest. My parents and I were invited to dinner at the packhouse with the Alpha. I wondered who all would be there. Would I see JD? I instantly stopped that line of thinking. I meant what I said. I still felt strongly for him, but that was over now. Terrance is my mate. Yes, yes I am. I could almost feel his smile. I was glad to see that he knew I was trying.

“Ali, are you ready my love?” My mom called out from my parents room. “Yes ma’am.” I checked my self over one more time. I had on an olive green dress that went past my knees with a knot tied on one side. I couldn’t choose what shoes to wear so I slid on my black Hermès flats. I loved them because they were open toe and I could show off my new pedi. That was one thing my mom and I did do together. My birthday was coming up soon so I would have to schedule our appointments for that soon. “Aliana let’s go sweetie. We’ve been waiting for you downstairs.” My dad said at the door. “I’m sorry dad, I got distracted.” I said as I grabbed my clutch and followed him out of my room and to the car. “I gave Jeff the night off so I’ll drive.” My dad announced. We all made our way into his silver Land Rover and to the meeting. I reached into my purse and grabbed my phone to check for messages.

Wow. He is so sweet. I thought to myself. Thank you for accepting him as our mate. Mya replied. I didn’t respond. I was still so angry at my spirit wolf. I had come to realize I played my part too. I wouldn’t have Terrance if things didn’t play out the way they did so I let all my bad feelings about it go. We have to learn to trust one another again Mya. I was just being honest. She couldn’t pull those types of stunts ever again. I really didn’t want any more drama. I was tired of being known as the mean girl. I wanted people to like me for me and not because they knew my family and I are rich. Could we ever be friends with Amber? I scoffed at myself. I had done too much damage. There was no way she would ever be my friend or even trust me.

I was so deep in my thoughts that I looked up just as we pulled around to the front of the pack house. Or should I say mansion. The exterior was painted white and I loved how there was a red door. I would describe the house as sleek and modern. I could see a tennis court, 3 garages, and what looked to be a sizeable guesthouse. “Ali close your mouth girl.” My mom snapped at me quietly. I noticed that she was dressed elegantly. She wore an all black body con dress with black Louboutin pumps. “Mom you look great.” She looked at me shocked and then blushed. Probably because she was expecting a smart ass comment. My dad came around from his side and he looked handsome as well.

He was wearing a velvet red vest and black dress shirt with the sharpest pants I’d ever seen. His shoes were Christian Louboutin as well. “I guess y’all forgot to give me the memo? Now we look like Christmas.” I laughed. My parents squeezed each other’s hands and I lead the way. “Hold on everyone, I forgot the wine in the car.” my dad said. I rolled my eyes and caught my mom doing the same. “Ali you go ahead and ring the doorbell. Be respectful please.” I rolled my eyes again. “Mom really? I’m not an animal and if I remember correctly, you made me take etiquette classes.”

“Aliana Rosemarie Enriques! Can you just go? Please? Thanks.” My mom dismissed me. I walked up to the door and rang the doorbell. Now we wait. My hands were clammy and I didn’t know why. I grabbed my bright crystal ovetto mini spray and covered myself. Just as I stuck the perfume back in my clutch, the door opened. Amber? What is she doing here? “What are you doing here?” Amber said my exact thoughts. “I’m sorry! Please excuse my child. She knows that’s not how we welcome our guests to the packhouse.” I saw Amber’s mom pinch her arm without trying to be seen as she greeted me. “Yes mom you’re absolutely right, Aliana’s a guest. I am so happy to welcome you to our home and for dinner.” Amber said. I couldn’t tell if she was being sincere or not. “My dad left something in the car, but he and my mom should be right up.

I heard the sound of a golf cart and turned around to find my parents and an older man dropping them off. “Gracias Rafael!” Amber’s mom called out to the driver. He just nodded and drove off. “I apologize Luna Jelena, my wife wore heels and refused to let me carry her.” My dad said jokingly. Luna? “From our family to yours, we are so grateful for the invitation” my dad humbly said as he and my mom bowed to Amber and her mom. “You are our honored guests, please come in.” the Luna replied and seemed to be so nice. As she was walking us in, I heard the sound of more guests arriving. Who all had been invited?

I felt less anxious as we weren’t the only ones that would be attending dinner with Amber and her family. Her dad was the alpha? Wow. It explained why she seemed to command attention effortlessly. It was then that Sayed and his family came in. Sayed has a little sister? Why didn’t I know that? His parents came in afterwards. It was then that I saw man that looked identical to JD. No. He couldn’t be here. Not now. Why? He was holding hands with Jamar’s mom too at that. I noticed that JD stood next to his mom, jaw locked, and stony focus. He didn’t wanna be here. It felt as though a dam was breaking in my mind. All of the memories I had with Jamar came flooding back. Then I heard the voice of the alpha, “Welcome all, my name is Azerin and I am the Alpha of the Los Reyes pack. My wife, daughter, and I are so happy that you all could be here to celebrate in our good news and prosperity.” My eyes broke away at the mention of the alpha’s daughter and looked around to find her.

Since her mom and her had been greeting all of the guests they were at the back of the small crowd. Her and JD were coincidentally standing awfully close. Mya? I need your help. With what? She answered me. I want to hear what’s going on with Amber and JD. I focused really hard as everything came into sharper focus. “I’m really sorry we had to cancel our apology date. I didn’t know my dad was gonna call a meeting.” Amber whispered. They had slowly moved to where they stood behind everyone without being noticed. I watched as he slowly took her hand and kissed it. They’re together? What the hell? I thought. I knew I had Terrance, but still. They were gonna rub it in my face? Right here? “I wanted everything to be perfect for you my angel, but being here with you right now is all I could ask for.” I heard Jamar sweetly say. He never called me his angel. Wtf? I could feel the tears pricking my eyes. I needed to get out of here. And fast.
