Chapter 16: Paradoxes There is a saying that bad guys are not so bad if they had something to protect, I wonder if it was the same for my father, I did not expect it to be the case for him, after all, I and Kamal were his kids, we were his legacy, he did not just fail in protecting us, he horridly failed at parenting as well and him trying to kill us only made him look way worse, did I just say made him look way worse, sorry, I meant that made him the worst, after all, who would kill his own child to attain power. I hoped my father did not underestimate me at this time I was weak because when I get stronger, he would already be certified dead, I will chase him to the end of the world and ensure he is wiped clean from the face of the earth. I woke up rather tired but I still grabbed something to eat, I had stayed up late eating junk food and I guess I really could not have remembered when I fell asleep but damn, I was really regretting staying up late. Kamal had taught me how to power on and power off the force field around my body, why? Well, the reason was quite simple, according to him, he wanted to train me in martial arts, he used no powers on me and taught me a few techniques till I got them right, then he told me to fight him, I wish I had objected to that because he really mopped the floor with me. We were not using any of our powers but he was still far superior to me, he hit harder and fought tougher than me, his speed was something else and obviously, he knew, understood and applied the techniques better than me, Kamal was really just amazing, we fought for a few minutes and he knocked me out afterwards. I woke up shortly after, I had something of an headache and I was really dazed but I woke up to Kamal’s smile beaming at me. I knew that smile, I was in for another lecture, although, I was really not interested in any of that, Kamal instructed me to freshen up and join him back here in less than thirty minutes which was something I agreed to do. We agreed to rendezvous here and left to freshen up but just before I went out, Kamal said to me, “Wear something amazing, we are going out”. I looked at him and asked a rhetorical question, I asked him what? He looked at me, smiled and left the training room. I knew I had less than thirty minutes to get ready and immediately got to it, I took a cold bath to chill and freshened up, I did not know what to wear because I had no idea what occasion we were going to, not that I was even sure it was an occasion, we could just be going out to a party or something, after all, Kamal was a singer and an extremely popular and talented one at that. I eventually made up my mind to put on a wine suit, I styled my hair and gelled it to look so fine, I put on the suit, put on a pair of Nike sneakers and went to the training room immediately, Kamal was already there and trust me, although, Kamal was a better fighter than in every way, I still had potential to catch him, I however had no potential in catching him when it came to his sense of style, he was ages in front of me, he put on a blue suit, wore a turtle neck shirt inside this suit and wore an iced out Cuban links chain, like that was not enough, he wore the latest Richard Mille watch, something I had only seen on exotic magazines and on no one, Kamal had not only out dressed me, he ensured he looked a lot handsomer than I was, I know Kamal was naturally much more handsome than me, but I had taken extra measures to at least match his handsome face, he made it look like I was not even trying to look handsomer, he asked me if I was ready to leave and I nodded almost immediately, I was ready to see exactly where I was going with Kamal although, I was not really prepared for his lecture though and I was a hundred percent sure it would come while we were on the way, we left the facility almost immediately and I saw a convoy of cars waiting, I looked at the cars and I was just amazed, three Mercedes Benz cars in front, a Rolls Royce sweptail in the middle and three range Rover Rover Holland & Holland at the back. I and Kamal had something in common, we loved doing things big, we did things big and great, his idea of a convoy really just took my breath away, our chauffeur opened the door for us, closed it, got into the driver’s sit and drove us off to God knows where. Kamal told me he wanted to tell me something, I knew it, I was waiting for this, his ultimate lecture, the opposite happened though, he asked me if I knew I was exactly like my father was at my age, he told me we were too similar, I wondered what he meant, my dad must have been really evil, this man killed the two mother’s of his children but Kamal looked at me and told me I was exactly like my dad was at this age, at least, that was what everyone said. I asked Kamal what made my dad change, what could be really much more important than his children and wife’s, I wanted to know what triggered my dad’s change, not for any specific reason but just so I could avoid it. Kamal looked at me and smiled, he informed me that no one knew, no one knows, only our dad knew but that he did not believe that people changed, they only reveal their true colours. Kamal looked at me and said to me, “Brother, you have friends, if they stand beside you, respect them, if they stand behind you, protect them and if they stand against you, destroy them”. He told me to not worry too much about my similarity with my dad, after all, a man’s measure is based on what he does with power and I must also put in mind that light does not always equate good and darkness does not always equate evil, this world was full of PARADOXES………………………………………..
