It took moments of silence but I just had to ask Kamal, I asked him where we were going because I was really anxious and excited to know where we were going to. He smiled at me and gave me a shocking reply, he told me we were going to a party, I asked him what he meant by we were going to a party, what sort of party could be more important than my training, he smiled at me and gave me an even more shocking reply. He told me we were going to the annual awards ceremony for members of the league of light, and he would be hosting this year’s edition. I looked at him perplexed, Kamal must have misunderstood a few things, I was too young to attend the awards ceremony for the league of light, you had to be at least eighteen years of age to attend, and attendance was strictly by invitation. Kamal was perceptive of how I was looking at him and immediately asked me what was wrong. I gave him an answer he was probably expecting, I reminded him that I was too young to attend the award ceremony for the league of light and that would not change for some time, he looked at me and told me not to be silly, he told me the rules were changed this year, they were changed because some young members of the league of light were doing so much good, they were performing better than some so called veterans, one agent the agency noted in particular was Zack, son of the leader of the league of light, making his father proud. His reply gave me mixed reactions, I was happy that I could attend the ceremony but I was jealous that Zack had earned the council’s respect and I had only earned their disgust, they must view me as an unnecessary evil, I guess the only reasons they had not discarded me were Kamal and my father, beyond that, I was of no use to them, other than that, I was only another soldier at their mercy. I swore on my life that day to surpass Zack, Kamal and my dad, I did not care how I would do it but I knew it was beyond important for me to surpass them, after all, I had the potential, I hated Zack now though, he took everything from me, my girl, my role, my team, my freedom, my everything, I did not like him one bit.

One thing did not sit well with me though, agreed that I was allowed to attend the awards ceremony of the league of light at this age, I still was not invited, I received no invitation, what was I then going to do there? Sit and watch Zack scoop a lot of awards? I had no business going there, I would not be allowed in and even if by a chance I got in, I would only watch Zack get awards that rightfully belonged to me, that was even if I could get in, after all, I had no invitation, I can sincerely not believe I had dressed up so well for this, disappointment. Kamal looked at me and asked me what was wrong, perhaps, he had noticed I was lost in thought, I told him what my problem was, I had no invitation and for that simple reason, I had no reasons going to the ceremony, my presence was not deemed fit or required, I looked on as I saw Kamal burst into laughter, I wondered what was so funny, did he think I was pouting or just being a big baby, I was sincerely pissed at him now, did he think this was funny, I looked at him and just could not help but look at him with disgust. He stopped laughing and told me to stop giving him that look, I tried to hide my disgust and he patted me on the head, right before saying that’s better boy. He then said to me, you really are not that bright are you? He asked me why he would have asked me to tag along if he had no plans for me at the party, I looked at him perplexed, that was a question I could not answer, besides, he had decided to bring me to the occasion, why was he asking me such a dumb question, I guess I had started looking at him with disgust because Kamal immediately instructed me to stop looking at him like he killed my first love, he asked me if he had some s**t on his blazer because that was exactly how I was looking at him. He told me to relax, I was an elite now, although, I was still undetermined by the council and my next actions would determine how long I would spend in the elite squad of the league of light, I was however still able to use any facility of the league of light without discretion, I was like a golden weapon of the league of light and my usefulness going forward would determine how long I was going to spend in the elite squad of the league of light.

I was even much more irritated now, so the league was still monitoring me, I was still almost on house arrest, nothing had really changed. I also did not understand what the f**k Kamal tried to achieve by giving me that extremely and completely useless piece of information, that had nothing to do with the award ceremony for the league of light, was he just riling me up, I maintained silence and tried to keep my face away from Kamal but it was too late, he had already seen my face and he had seen the immense disgust and irritation it portrayed. Kamal asked me what the matter was this time, after all, according to him, he had told me everything I wanted to know this night, I looked at him perplexed and said to him, “Oh really? Yeah, you told me everything I wanted to know, I asked you how and why I would be able to get into the location for the awards ceremony for the league of light and you are talking about how long I would spend in the elite squad of the league of light, like they are so related, in fact, they mean the exact same thing, now that you are done mocking me, can you turn the car back or at least, put me in one of the extra cars and have me taken back to our training facility.” Kamal looked at me and burst into laughter, he told me I worried too much, I was now a member of the elite squad of the league of light, so, it takes only my fingerprint to get into any occasion hosted by the league of light or any organization for that matter, the league had bestowed priceless power on me and how long I could keep them would be determined by the actions I took and the decisions I make in the next few months, so, I had better behaved myself, I did not have the luxury of misbehaving or screwing up, I had to be the perfect soldier and then, only then would I be able to get myself some awards at the part of the league of light, what is described as the biggest edition of any and every PARTY………………………………………………………………………………………………
