Chapter 18: Trouble

1398 Words
You either die a hero or you live long enough to see yourself become a villain, I am guessing that was the case with my dad, he was the golden boy, everyone’s love, but now, he was just a petty villain. We were almost at our destination for the awards ceremony for the league of light, I at that point expected everything to go rather well, but it appears the exact opposite was what happened. We got to our destination, Jamal’s arena which was constructed in the name of Lord Jamal Omolade, the master of death, it was the largest arena in the world, with the capability of hosting around three hundred thousand people, that seemed out of place to me since the league of light did not have so many people to invite but boy was I wrong, we got in and the place was filled up, Kamal dragged me by my left hand and pulled me towards the front, mumbling something about him reserving front seats for us, so that I could get the best view, as he dragged me, I for no reason at all had the urge to look to my left and oh boy did I wish I did not, staring back at me was Elizabeth, she looked really sad, I wondered why but she smiled at me and waved as I also waved back. I looked at her and waved until he looked at me, sitting right next to her was Zack, he looked at me scornfully and his look just brought back the memory of what he and Elizabeth did to me, I was having real issues forgiving them. I also felt somewhat bad because I thought Elizabeth had left him when she came to my house before I left with Kamal but it appears that was not the case, they were still very much together, disgusting. I and Kamal sat on the left wing of the arena and before I could blink, Kamal was on the stage, can you imagine, he was gone, in a flash, the spotlights were focused on him as he welcomed the guests and introduced himself, he called names of a list of honourable attendees, I could not believe my ears as he listed their names, Otaru Covenant, a multi billionaire, fourth on Forbes list of the richest men in the world, Oyewale Mujeeb, also a multi billionaire, Oladepo Baseet, Benjamin Gates, Onafeko Alameen of the prestigious Onafeko family, Onafeko Alli, his younger brother, Sulaimon Qudus, the list went on and on, these people were the big boys when it came to money, they dominated Forbes top twenty list of richest men in the world, and they were here, in the same room with me, if you thought about it, this room was filled with power, no wonder the league of light had so much money, you most certainly could not be acquainted with these people and not have a lot of money, I looked on as Kamal called out the nominees for the lifetime award, he called out the General’s name, Zack’s father, the rather foolish man also went to receive the award, I really could not help but look at him with disgust, he did not deserve the award, all he has ever done was bark orders, he had never been in an actual battle, never gone on a mission, he was just a selfish, greedy piece of s**t feeding off the money of the league of light, what could I do though, he had received the award. He called out the title of the next award, the award for the best rated female of the league of light, he called out Elizabeth’s name to my shock, she went to receive her award and thanked her teammates, Jordan and I. I gave her a smile and joined in the applause. She left the stage and to my greatest surprise, she came towards me and sat next to me, she told she wanted to have a word and I told her that was okay. The next thing she said shocked me, she told me she loved me, she had always loved me. I looked at her and said to her, “You are already taken, there’s nothing I could do about it except imagine what it would be like being with you”. She looked at me, smiled and told me she was sure it would be wonderful and she immediately asked me if I knew why she left me. I looked at her and told her I had no idea why, she smiled and and told me the reason she left was because she realised I actually deserved someone better than her. I told her she was never mine but losing her ultimately broke my heart and it really hurt to feel unwanted by the one person you want the most. I told her that it was okay though, even though it hurts, I am okay with her being with someone else as long as the other person makes her happy, I told her to not worry about me, I could handle myself, I just wanted her to be happy, I just did not understand back then, why I was the one who was always by your side when you needed me, but you still chose him over me. She then decided to blow my mind, she told me she was a lover, not a fighter but she would undoubtedly fight for what she loves and I was who she loved, she told me she was joining the elite squad of the league of light soon enough. I asked about Jordan and she told me he was here, she told me he was also joining the elite squad of the league of light and that they were doing it to protect me, I could not help but smile, their words made me beyond happy. I was so overjoyed I had to smile and look up, that’s when I saw them, dressed in all black, I wondered who they were and why they were dropping in, I knew one thing for sure though, they most certainly could not be good people, that made me wonder though, were they members of the league of light, I did not have enough time to think though, they were dropping in and they were going in fast, I had to do something, I jumped up and tried to grab one of them but instead, he grabbed me and threw me on stage, by then, people had become alert but surprisingly, no one attacked, they all landed on the stage and one of them pulled off his ski mask, his face sent chills down my spine, it was my father, he was here. He told everyone to relax because he was only here to talk to us, he said no one has to die and whoever wanted to leave should endeavour to leave immediately. A lot of people made for the exit, perhaps, they were as terrified as I was, maybe even more, another one pulled off his or should I say, her mask, it was Elizabeth’s mom, she looked beautiful as always, she looked at Elizabeth and said to her, “I want a word with you too, buttercup”. Elizabeth looked at her distastefully, she had rage and hatred in her eyes, she would have probably killed her mom right now if she could but I guess she knew her mom was way stronger than her and she was fodder when compared to her mom because she endeavoured to not fight her mom, a smart move, if you are being considerate. Kamal was having none of this though, he looked at them and told them to leave now or die slowly and painfully, my dad came prepared for him though, he put an electronic tag on his leg before I could blink, the same one as the one that kept me at home, trust me, Kamal was useless now, it was fairly obvious now, we were deeply rooted in a lot of TROUBLE…………………………………………………………………….
