Chapter 19: Unknown

1212 Words
My dad looked at me and God knows, if I was a little bit more terrified, I would have peed my pants. He came towards me and I slowly walked away from him, he told me he wanted to have a discussion with me and if I knew what I was doing and wanted Kamal to live on, I had better started walking towards him. I had no other choice than to walk towards him as Kamal looked on, struggling to get the electronic tag off, I wondered why there was no security for this event, this was the biggest gathering for an awards ceremony, although, we were mostly superheroes who attended, no one would have expected any attacks, after all, we were mostly super heroes here, what type of morons would attack a couple of superheroes. Apparently, some people actually can, the death squad, the most notorious group of lawless and ruthless super powered villains. My dad sat me down and sat next to me, I gave him a scornful looked, frowned harshly and asked him what in God’s name he wanted. He smiled at me and told me I was cocky as ever, good grief, I see where Kamal got his smiling addiction from. I asked him what he wanted from me and rather than answer my question, he asked me why I was being so rude towards him, after all, I once used to respect him. I told him it was because he was now a wanted terrorist and a serial murderer, he looked at me and said this words to me, words that made no sense to me then but would mean everything to me eventually, he said to me, “My dear son, do not judge my actions when you do not understand my reasons, maybe I am the villain in your story but I am the hero in mine, when it comes to my actions, only God can judge me, very soon, you shall understand everything and just how much I love you”. I looked at him disgustingly and told him how much I despised and hated him, I wish only the worst for him, he looked at me and smiled, he told me that love and hate are two sides of the same coin, and hatred is mostly a result of lost love as is in our case. I asked him again, what do you want? Rather than answer my question, he gave me another question, he asked me, do you want power? I told him no immediately because I knew that him giving me powers was simply a big fat lie and even if it happened to be true, someone would pay for it with their life. He looked at me and smiled again, he then whispered to me, “Do not ever lie to me, if you tell me the truth, no matter how f****d up it is, I would most certainly respect you more”. I looked at him and told him I wanted nothing like his love or respect, he then told me to not be so quick to judge him, after all, I could only see what he chose to show me. He then proceeded to further irritate me, he told me that he had said to me once and he would continually say it to me, he would always love me, no matter what happens. I looked at him unmoved and told him that feeling was not mutual. People who do not understand your words would never understand your words, I knew my dad was trying to make a point but I was really just having none of it. I looked at my dad and told him I hated him and nothing he could ever say would make me love him, I told him that perhaps, if he had gotten a glimpse of the pain he made me feel, he’d understand my pain, that is, if he is able to bear it. He looked at me and told me that even if he was thrown to a pack of wolves, he would return, leading the pack. He told me that he understood how I felt but that while he understood me, I did not understand him, he told me he had two things to tell me, the first was that I should not trust Kamal, no matter what he says or does to me, I must not trust him, after all, why would I be worried about enemies when I had a backstabbing friend, the second was that no one was coming to save me, no one was coming to help me, I had to be my own hero, I had to be my own hero, I must be, I had no other choice, that was my main goal, just like the main goal of all life was death because it death was what all life eventually went back to. He leaned forward and told me that if I ever wanted his help, I would find him at, twenty fifteen and thirty forty five, words that made no sense to me then but I would eventually understand, he told me he loved me and that he would make me a hero for the league of light now but while I was a hero now, I must never forget that people love me for what I do, not who I am. I really could not understand or fathom what my dad was saying, nothing he had said today had made any sense, I should not trust Kamal? Who was I to trust then? Him? That was obviously impossible. What had he meant and what did he want, if he just wanted to talk to me, he could have done that weeks ago, rather than beating me to a pulp, a cowardly move I dare say. I was still interested in what his plan was. He looked at me and smiled again, I had no idea why but his smile was really beginning to creep me the f**k out, like what in Adam’s name was he doing? He told me to relax and told me he was only here to see me, talk to me and expose this fraud, he said he wanted to expose this fraud and pointed to Kamal, I really wondered what he meant, I mean come on, what was he saying? I wondered if he was trying to get me on his side, his dark and ominous side, his side that had evil to offer, I knew to play along for now, for one reason, I had neither the strength nor the experience to beat my father. Heck, what was I saying? I could never beat him, my father was simply overpowered, I had better behaved myself before he puts me in a hospital or worse enough, a graveyard. What bothered me the most was that my father’s motive for coming here was unknown to me, I mean come on, how did he know I was here, questions I would not dare ask, I guess I would not be getting answers to the questions I had then, the answers to my questions would be Unknown…………………….............
