Potion of Love

Day seven of Sunny making a way to be noticed by her long-time crush - Leo; her college block mate and also her crush. It's been a week since she decided to pursue him, and it's also been a week since Sunny gained nothing from it. It looks like the older person didn't see her the way Sunny wanted, but as a cute younger sister only. "You're really cute Sunny" , Leo says when Sunny gives him a bar of chocolate earlier, but the older person thinks it's only a kind gesture from the younger. Despite the sweet sentiment behind Sunny's actions, Leo interprets them as simply a friendly compliment, unaware of the underlying affection that Sunny may hold towards him. Sunny sits in the cafeteria waiting for her best friend, dejected about how Leo doesn't see her efforts for him. She wrecks her brain thinking what she should do next, not until she feels that someone is staring at her. She scanned the area and saw a few students eating their food, and her best friend was nowhere in sight. She just shrugged off what she felt because it might be just her hallucinations. A few moments pass by until her best friend comes and slaps her shoulder. "Hey, what's with the long face? Don't tell me it's Leo again?" , her best friend Sky asked. "It's just that it has already been seven days, but Leo still doesn't see that I like him. I gave him chocolates earlier, and he just said that i'm cute. I'm out of ideas on what to do next." "Tss, it's only been seven days. You don't need to rush everything you know. I actually have an idea, but it's a BAD idea, so I'm not telling you it.", Sky answered. "Then what's the use of telling me this if you don't elaborate on that 'BAD idea?" "You know my blockmate Vander right? There's a rumor that he uses and buys a love potion on his girlfriend now. He got the love potion from the famous witch downtown. I am telling you this but don't use it for Leo." "Love potion? Do you think I'm crazy to use that?" ~~~~~~~~ "Maybe I am really crazy. Why am I here in front of the witch's house?" , I asked myself while I stared at a two-story house. The house looks like a typical house you can see in your neighbor, but the only difference is that this house resides where the famous witch makes all kinds of potions. Humans, vampires, wolves and many other entities go to her to ask for a potion. There's also a rumor that the witch had a son, but no one ever saw him, so it's never been proven true. I pressed the doorbell and the door unlocked by itself. I pushed the door open to be welcomed by a scent of burning cinnamon wood and lavender. There's also a hint of vanilla and mahogany wood that makes me relaxed upon entering the house. A big chandelier hanging on the ceiling will welcome you to the house entrance, and also a cabinet full of bottles. I walk over to the shelf cabinet and see strange words or symbols like the bottle's label. After a minute, a beautiful woman walked down the stairs elegantly and welcomed me with a smile, while looking at me intently. "Hi, I'm Sunny I just wan-" "Why do you need a love potion?", the witch cuts me off with this question. I was caught off guard and spooked, since I don't even know how she knew that I needed a love potion. "How did you know?", I asked her. "Your face looks like it, and I am a witch, and you're at my place.I can read the mind of someone that sets off their feet in my space, darling. So tell me, why do you need a love potion?" The witch answers me with a smile, waiting for my reason about why I need the potion. "I just need it badly, you know there's this one boy whom I really like, but I don't even know why he doesn't give me just a glance. Yes, we're friends, but I want more than that, it's been a week since I started to pursue him but nothing happened." "So you want to use a love potion on that boy? Maybe that boy isn't the one for you? And if he doesn't like you, why would you push yourself towards him?" " I like Leo so much. Desperate people do desperate things right." "So you resort to this method. Is it much better if he loved you without a potion? He loves you for who you are, not he loves you because of a potion. A real love is much better than a fake love. You might get hurt because of it. " " If I use the potion, then Leo will like me back, and that's the only thing I want right now." " Remember, I warned you, but you didn't listen to me", she sighed as she went to the shelf cabinet and got a bottle with a pink and blank label with writings φίλτρο αγάπης — I don't really understand the label, but I smiled at her when he handed me the bottle. "Destiny really has a way for you, my girl. Your tears will eventually guide you to the person who'll love you without the use of a potion", the witch said to herself as she watched the girl leave with a smile on her face, not knowing the aftermath of her decision. ~~~~~~~~~ I dialed Leo's number on my phone and after five rings he answered "Hi Sunny, what's up. Why do you call?" "Hi Leo, I just want to ask for help on our paper with Mr. Park's research. If that's not too much of course." I answered, hoping he would answer yes. I was already done with my own paper, but I need to use this as a reason so I can use the potion to Leo's drink. "Ohh sure, but is it okay if I came with someone? Is it okay for Ethan to come along?" Leo asks. Ethan — Leo's best buddy. They have been friends since high school until now. Despite secretly hoping for some one-on-one time with Leo, Sunny understands the importance of Leo's friendship with Ethan and also she doesn't want to impose any limitations on her plans. "Thank you, Sunny. I know you'll get along well with Ethan." "Sure no worries. I'll wait for both of you here at the coffee shop near our campus. Do you want me to order you any drinks? My treat?" "Is that fine Sunny? If that's the case can you order us an Iced Americano for me and Iced Latte for Ethan. Be there in a while. Thanks again Sunny" After the call I went to the counter and ordered the drinks Leo wants. I wait for the barista to make our drinks and after getting my orders I sit in the corner of the cafè. After I seated I got the potion out of my pocket and opened it. Put three drops of the potion on the Iced Americano that Leo's ordered. I smiled nervously while I waited for Leo and Ethan to come. My hands were sweating profusely, my gall bladder also acted up. The cafè door rings signaling someone came and I see Leo and Ethan at the door so I wave at them to let them know where I am. Leo smiles when he sees me, meanwhile Ethan nods when he notices who I am. They walk over to the table where I was seated. As they reached the table where I was, I excused myself since I really needed to pee because of my nervousness. "Hi Leo, I'm really sorry but I need to go to the restroom. You can sit and I already ordered your preferred drinks, you can drink it already. You don't need to wait for me." I ran to the restroom and released myself. I was silently cursing myself because of embarrassment. I washed my hands and talked to myself facing the mirror. "Sunny starting tomorrow, Leo will like you back. You'll be happy starting tomorrow" I reassured myself with a hopeful smile. With that positive affirmation, I walked over to our table, ready to join the two bestfriends. However, as I approached, I suddenly stopped in my tracks, feeling a sudden chill wash over me as if a bucket of ice-cold water had been dumped on me. The ice americano — the drink that had a potion, Ethan was drinking on it. The realization hit me like a ton of bricks, causing a wave of uncertainty and doubt to flood my thoughts. What the hell happened while I was gone?
