I watched in disdain as my mother worried over Dani. Petting her hair, hugging her a million times. For Goddess' sake Dani is too old to be coddled.
“Now the school is only two hours away, but if anything happens I’ll be there quicker than any hybrid imaginable.” My mom said as she stroked Dani’s cheek. I felt a twinge of jealousy deep in my chest, but quickly brushed it off.
“We’re going to be late.” I snapped at them as I slid on my black aviators and popped an AirPod in my ear. My mom gave me a sad smile that made that twinge hurt even more.
“She’s right, I better let y’all go.” She murmured before giving Dani one more hug.
“Don’t worry kiddo, you can come visit any weekend.” My dad said, giving me a soft punch to the shoulder. I couldn’t help but smile at his poor attempt to cheer me up.
“I wouldn’t have to leave if you would name me as your heir.” I rolled my eyes as he let out a deep sigh.
“I know, I know.” I continued, cutting off whatever bullshit excuse he was about to give me. He gave me a sad smile that held so many unspoken words. Sometimes I think that he wishes I would’ve been a boy. I know he loves my younger brother, Lucas, who will be his heir, but my father and I have a stronger bond. I watched Diego, Dani’s father, pull her into a hug.
“I love you, niña.” He spoke into her light brown hair that matched his own. I didn’t give my mother the opportunity to hug me as I climbed into the black SUV and waited for the princess to join me. After what felt like an eternity of Dani being fussed over she finally climbed into the vehicle. I saw in the corner of my eye that she was wiping away her stray tears, I rolled my eyes for the millionth time.
“Can we go now?” I barked at the driver who nodded his head and pulled away from our home. I nestled down into my seat, this is going to be a long ride.
“Hey Rosa, we’re here.” I felt a soft hand on my shoulder, gently shaking me. When my eyes fluttered open they focused on a face almost identical to mine, but with golden eyes.
“Don’t touch me, crybaby.” I spat as I swatted her hand away. I watched as hurt flashed across her face before she turned away from me. I groaned as I climbed out of the big SUV, my joints cracked and protested from being stretched out after being cramped up for so long. The driver began unloading our luggage. I stood rooted in place as I gazed up at the girls dormitory. It was at least five stories up and I prayed that I was going to be on a lower floor.
“Well I’m gonna go find my room, later loser.” I hollered at Dani over my shoulder, she attempted to reply, but I just waved her off. I was already sick of being around her and needed to get away. I slung my backpack onto my back and drug my suitcase behind me as I clutched my paperwork with my free hand. Okay, level B room 112, I read on the paper as I stomped up the short few steps. I tried to open the door, but remembered my school ID was like a key card. I fished it out of my backpack and tapped it on the little black box. The door automatically whooshed open, hitting me with a cold breeze. I groaned when I saw the stairs, but immediately perked up when I noticed three elevators at the left of the stairs. Thank the Goddess because my ass does not want to climb a million stairs every f*****g day. A sly smile played on my lips when I realized level B is actually floor 2. Good, easy to sneak out and do whatever the f**k I want. When the elevators dinged open I was happy to see that my room was the first door to the left. I used my ID to open the dorm room, groaning out loud when I realized I have to share it with someone else. The room is mirrored on each side. There are two beds lofted up like a bunk bed, but instead of another bed underneath it’s a desk. There are two dressers and two closets, one for each side. I slung my backpack up on the bed to my right and turned when I heard someone at the door.
“What the hell do you want?” I asked Dani as I glared at her over my shoulder.
“We’re, um, roommates.” She said meekly.
“You’ve got to be f*****g kidding me!” I snapped. I closed my eyes and took a deep breath. When I reopened them I stormed over to her, invading her personal space, she took a half step back.
“Let me set some ground rules. One, you stay out of my way. Two, you do not touch my s**t. Three, you do not talk to me unless absolutely necessary. Four, you stay quiet. Five, you keep your mouth shut about what I do.” I stated as I ticked off the rules on my fingers. Dani’s eyes were wide as she nodded slightly.
“Good.” I rolled my eyes at her paling face, turning back around to unpack my stuff. I paid no mind to her slight sniffles as she went to her side to unpack her things as well. I pinched the bride of my nose as I screwed my eyes shut, this is gonna be a long f*****g school year.
It was Saturday when we moved into the dorm and like the blink of an eye the weekend was gone and we thrusted into the first day of college. The campus was just a short walk from the dorm. I had noticed the guy’s dorm was on the opposite side of the campus. I bet it wasn’t easy sneaking into either dorm as the opposite s*x. I had practically threatened Dani to stay away from me while we were at school. We had one class together, science, and I told her that if she sat next to me I’d put her precious baby blanket in a wood chipper. Let’s just say she’ll be far away from me. I wanted to skip all of my classes and just f**k off, but I noticed how three warriors from my pack were here. They were watching me like hawks and I knew as soon as I did something mommy and daddy would be getting a call. I rolled my eyes as I walked down the crowded halls heading for my first class of the day. I wish I was home training with the warriors and checking out all the unmated wolves. I never paid much thought to finding my mate. I hated the idea of some random person being picked for me. I wanted to choose them, choose my own destiny. I was sick and tired of things being picked for me. I barely paid attention to any of my classes, just let my mind swirl with thoughts. As I walked to my third class of the day I was hit with the most delicious smell. I couldn’t place what it was, but it made my mouth water. Without even thinking I followed my nose, shoving through students until I came to a corner of two hallways. A guy with shaggy brown hair and the body of an Alpha stood pressed against a blonde bimbo. He had his arms up, caging her against the wall, running his nose up the column of her throat. Without realizing it, a growl tore from my lips and when he turned it felt like my world flipped upside down. No, f**k, not now.
“Mate.” My head snapped to my left and shocked marred my face as Dani stood next to me. I watched as her golden eyes locked with his deep brown eyes. The little blonde bimbo’s mouth popped open as she glanced between the three of us.
“No, no f*****g way am I sharing a mate with YOU.” I snapped as I stared at Dani, she turned to me, finally realizing what was happening.
“Niiiiice, twins.”
“We’re just sisters.” I snapped at the cocky Alpha. He raised his hand with a shrug, cocky smile still played across his face.
“I, Daniella Michelle Garcia-Martinez, reject you, Devon Blackwell, as my fated mate.” I watched in shock as Dani turned on her heels and bolted down the hall. The Alpha, I now know as Devon, hunched over and clutched his chest.
“I, Devon Blackwell, reject you, Daniella Michelle Garcia-Martinez, as my fated mate.” He barked at Dani’s retreating form and with my enhanced hearing I caught the sound of a sob escaping her lips.
“I, Rosalina Maria Garcia-Martinez, reject you, Devon Blackwell, as my fated mate.” I turned on my heels just as Dani had and refused to show any emotion when I felt him break our bond.
