Prologue
The young girl stayed where her mother had hidden her. Though she watched in horror as her sister Ava was dragged to the middle of the room by the man her father called Amarok. While she watched her sister cry with the look of fear in her eyes, her father began speaking to the man. "Please! Amarok, I'm begging you. You have me, whatever it is you want you have me!!" The man smacks her father across the face as his men held him back. "No! I want revenge, Dimitri. I am going to let you watch as I drain her blood. Your going to watch the life fade from her eyes, so you know the feeling of loss!" Amarok spat at the alpha. "Why are you doing this? What have we done for you to take from us so barbarically?!" questioned Luna Kaya. Amarok narrowed his eyes at the alphas mate. Shaking with fury with his next words."You dare pretend to know nothing of the death of my family?! The death of my wife and child!? For centeries we let you live! Walking among us without incident, but that ends today!" "Not my daughter Amarok please! Just kill me!!" pleaded the Alpha. Amarok smiled at the Alpha and with one quick swipe, he sliced open Ava's throat doing as he promised he would and the young girl watched with tears in her eyes as her sister sunk to the floor bleeding, her eyes turning cold as one hand went up to the wound on her neck and the other stretched out to her little sister speaking her name. "Kiana." the girl gurgled her last word as life left her body. After beating the Alpha and the Luna within an inch of their lives, Amarok decided to let them live with their agony from the loss of their daughter. And killing the Luna was ideal since his wife was taken from him, but he decided to let the Luna live so the Alpha can watch his Luna live through her pain. He went to his right hand man. "I want you to grab our team and search the area. s*******r any other wolves you can find." "Don't you think this is going to cause more chaos Erikson? I mean we already killed some wolves in Seattle. I told you, they weren't the ones who killed your family, why are we still going with this?" "You don't think that the wolves hunt together? I'm sure these wolves had a part in their death." "Its not possible. We're in Redmond. The wolves run in separate packs. We don't even know if they run together from different towns. Besides, the one that killed your family was already taken care of." Amarok narrowed his eyes at the man. The man sighs. "Fine. I'll search the grounds. What is with them calling you Amarok anyways?" Erikson smiles wide. "Amarok is the name I gave when I started slaughtering their kind. It means wolf hunter." "Hmm. Very fitting." Erikson chuckles and says, "If you have an issue with the killings then why are you here?" "You know why. They killed my wife. She didn't deserve to die the way she did, alone. And I didnt sign on to become a murderer." "Your absolutely right," Erikson says. "You just came to me for help to kill the wolf responsible." "And I paid my debt by killing the wolf that killed your family! I didn't sign on to kill a child!" "You will never pay off this debt!" Erikson yells. "The day you came to me, I was suppose to be at home with MY family! Instead I left to help you ! Leaving my family defenseless!! So really..this is your fault. I may hate their kind for what they are and what they've done, but you owe me your life." "Alright. I'll get this done." Says the man through gritted teeth. "Atta boy!" Erikson says landing his hand on the man's shoulder. "I knew you'd see it my way!" And with that, the wolf hunter walked out of the room. The man stood there alone for a second looking down at the girls parents. "s**t!" The man growls and walks out of the room. Young Kiana looked around and saw no one so she ran out of her hiding place and to her parents who laid still on the floor covered in blood. They were unrecognizable. Kiana began to quietly sob over her parents still bodies. She bent down and touched her mothers cheek and slid her fingers to her neck. She still felt a pulse. "Mommy? Please wake up mommy I need you! Please." She whispered through her hiccups and tears. She began sobbing again but sucked in her sobs in shock when her father began to move wincing in pain. She ran to his side. "Daddy! Oh daddy! Ava!" Was all she could manage looking back at her sisters' lifeless body. She sobbed to her father who pulled her close to him, blood dripping from his mouth. "Kiana, my sweet girl. You have to run." "But, no daddy! I-" "Listen to me Kiana. If you do not run, they will find you and they will kill you!" He whispered to her through his pain. "I know what I am asking you to do is hard sweetheart but I promise you. I will find you again, just run!" Kiana looked down at her father with pain and tears in her eyes. "You promise you'll come for me?" "With my life my daughter. I will find you. Now go!" The Alpha ordered. As the words he spoke sent a jolt through her, Kiana bent down, kissed her fathers' bloodstained cheek, and began to run! She looked back one last time hoping that she would reunite with her mother and father again one day. As she turned to leave the man was standing there in the shadows. Frozen in place, Kiana was then grabbed by the man and she began to kick and scream and claw at him trying to get out of his grasp when he turned her around and held a hand over her mouth and nose. She heard her father yell out with pain in his voice, "Kiana! NOOO!" Then every thing went black. The man stood there with the limp girl in his arms. He put her on the ground then pointed the gun at her head. He heard the whimpering from her father. He looked over at the wolf that pleaded for his daughters life "Kiana, my sweet girl." He whispered. As the Alpha was losing his strength to sit up the man pointed and shot his gun. He looked over and saw the Alpha sink to the ground from exhaustion. The man heard a few men running to see what the commotion was. As they flooded into the room they looked at the man. He looks at them and says, "Everything is taken care of in here. Go to the back of the house and see if you find anyone else hiding." They look down and see the girl at his feet. Before walking out they look at each other then back at the man and nod, then they turn on their heel and head out in search of other wolves. As soon as the men are out of his sight he grabs the young girls' body as quickly as possible and carries her to his vehicle parked outside. He loads her in and gets behind the wheel. He starts the car and takes off, watching as the house he was in becomes smaller and smaller in his rearview mirror. As he drives, he has so many thoughts rushing through his head. His beloved wife, how many wolves he's slaughtered by Erikson's orders, and the consequences of him saving this young girl. He hears the young girls fathers' voice in his head saying her name. Kiana, he looks in his mirror and sees her shift a bit and stays asleep. He used enough chloroform to knock out a grown man, he knew the girl wasn't human. So when he saw her move as Erikson killed the other girl, he knew he had to get her out of there. She was innocent in all this, all he could do is find her a safe place, with a family that will give her love that she was robbed of. But where would he find people capable of raising a young wolf? All he knew is he couldn't go to home and he definitely couldn't leave her in Redmond. So, he started driving and never looked back.
