CHAPTER 4 - REJECT HER - JAYCE'S POV

1575 Words
I couldn't bring myself to enter the hospital. I'd been sitting in my car for an hour like a coward. I'd wanted my mate since I was 18, but as the years continued, and still, I hadn't found her, I'd given up, and now, my mate might be in that hospital, and she was a witch. "Let's just check." My wolf Hunter. "I'm not accepting her if she really is a witch." I warned him, "Besides, I'm getting marries. I've given my word." "Just go!" Hunter shouted, and I exhaled in frustration and climbed out of the car. "Sometimes you really p*ss me off." "Dido." I shook my head and started walking towards the hospital. Why did my feet feel like led? Please don't be my mate. I pleaded silently. I didn't want to have to reject her. I didn't want to hurt or to see Kayson with her while I couldn't be, and I knew he'd take her, witch or not. He'd been talking about his mate his whole life and never even looked at another women. Even with his scars, women threw themselves at him, but he never gave them the time of day. "Hello, Alpha Jayce." One of the receptionists waved to me. "Alpha Kayson asked me to tell you that he's in your private suite." I nodded and kept going. When I left the elevator, I froze. NO! The scent in the air was amazing. Sandalwood, lavender and honey. This can't be happening. Why was the Goddess doing this to me?! "MATE!" Hunter started wagging his tail and running around excitedly, for Goddess's sake. He was meant to be an Alpha. I stood in the hallway, just staring at the door leading to our private suite. Part of me wanted to run and never go into that room, but I knew I'd have to meet her anyway, so I may as well get this over with. I took a breath and pushed open the door, but I froze in the doorway when I saw her. The Goddess must truly hate me. This girl was bewitching, and her alluring eyes stared up at me from the bed she was sitting in. "Jayce," Kayson looked up at me, and then his eyes shifted to the girl before looking back at me. "She is, isn't she?" I couldn't say the words and nodded. "I knew it!" He shouted, but then the girl cringed, and he quickly spun towards her. "I'm sorry, don't be afraid." She didn't say anything. She just stared at him and cowered slightly when my brother touched her face. Why did I want to comfort her too? I hated this. Could I go through with this rejection? "This is my brother Jayce," He told her slowly as if she were stupid. "He's your mate too." F*ck, don't tell her that! I finally stepped into the room and closed the door, but before I could take a step closer, the door swung open and Caden ran in, wearing a hospital gown. "DON'T HURT HER!" I noticed my mate looked at him and seemed a little relieved by his presence, and I felt a jealousy I'd never experienced before. "STAND DOWN!" Kayson shouted, using his command, and I saw in shock, Caden fighting it. "We're not going to hurt her. She's our mate!" "Mate?" Caden whispered as he looked at my brother in surprise. "Yes, now for Goddess's sake, back the f*ck off, or I'll knock you out!" Kayson threatened him. Caden went to her other side and sat down as he took her hand. "Are you okay?" "She doesn't understand you." My brother told him, "And take your f*cking hands off her or lose them." Caden quickly pulled his hands back. "Why?" I spoke for the first time, and everyone looked at me. "Why can't she understand you?" "She doesn't speak our language." "So, what language does she speak?" "No clue, she hadn't spoken, just some random words after we sedated her, but I didn't understand anything." I tried not to stare at her. Her eyes were beguiling, and I didn't want to think about her like that. She frowned and looked at her hand that Caden had touched, but then she held her hand up and looked at it. "Did he hurt you?" Kayson asked, his eyes darkening as he looked at our Beta, but then she turned to my brother and touched his chest. She then frowned again and touched Caden. "I think she's feeling the bond." Caden commented. "That's right." Kayson sat on her bed and took her hand before pressing it back to his chest. "We're mates. That's what you're feeling." He then stared me, encouragingly, "So is my brother." "No, I'm not." I shook my head, and Kayson looked upset. "I won't have a witch. I'd rather die. Find out her name, so I can formally reject her." "You can't be serious?' Caden asked. "Stay out of this!" I growled at him in warning. My brother came over to me, "You can't do this!" He told me angrily, "I won't let you hurt her!" "She can't even speak. How are we meant to communicate?" I asked, "Besides, do you really want to share her?" "It doesn't bother me." He told me, "And I know it doesn't bother you either, so shut up. And besides, this is for her, not us. She's meant for both of us, which means one of us won't be enough for her. Something will always be missing for her if she only gets one of us." "You don't even know if she wants you." I pointed out, "She's scared of you." "Of course she is. We tried to kill her, but I can change that." "Are you mad?" I asked him, "Even if she accepts you, the pack won't follow her. She's a witch. You of all people should hate her." "Well, I don't." He argued, "I want her." "Please, you want her because she attractive." I rolled my eyes, "But that's all she's got going for her. She's-" The door opened, and we all turned to look. "Oh, Jay, you're here." TJ greeted me as he walked in, "Perfect timing, you are never going to believe this, but she's not a witch." "What do you mean?' Kayson asked, "You said during the examination that she doesn't have a wolf." "She doesn't. She's never had one." He told us, "That's because she had a Lycan." "Are you mad?" I asked as I frowned at him, "Lycan's went extinct 1000 years ago." "I don't know what to tell you." He shrugged and passed me his iPad to look at as if I knew what I was looking for. "Her blood type is not even in our system. I'll need to stock up on her blood in case she gets injured again. Anyway, the markers in her blood that we drew show that she is a Lycan, and get this, she looks young. I'd say 18-19 or something close, but she's over 1000 years old." "Your tests are wrong. Redo them." I ordered as I passed him the iPad. "I tested them twice. I'm not wrong." He told me, "Also, we're not just dealing with a language barrier. She's got memory loss. I doubt she knows what she is or what we are, so I suggest you don't shift in front of her, because it might freak her out." "Are you sure she's not a witch?" Caden asked as he looked at the tattoo on his arm, "She did magic. She did this." "About that," He pointed at the mark, "I checked our online database about Lycans and get this. That mark is a royal mark. Only the royal family's personal guard got that mark, and only a royal member can bestow it. I guess the royal line had powers. There were rumors that some Lycans had gifts." "Are you saying she's royalty?" My brother asked as he looked at her again. "Maybe," TJ shrugged, "So, I am still running some tests, but thanks to that impressive healing ability she has, there's no internal damage from the arrows, but there was some silver poisoning, but I'll give her something to dilute it to help her healing ability." "Thanks," Kayson smiled, "Do you think her memories will come back?" "I don't know." He answered, "Just try to teach her things. It may help you communicate." "Okay," Kayson smiled, returned to her side, and sat down. "I'd like to take her home." "She is not coming back to our home." Kayson turned and growled, "She is living with me whether you like it or not." "What do you think is going to happen here?" I asked, "Even if she's not a witch, which I highly doubt she isn't. The pack still won't follow her. Besides, we can't have two Luna's. Once I marry Alina, she will be the Luna. As we discussed between us, before I agreed to the marriage." "You can't marry her now." Kayson shouted, and the girl shrank back again. "We'll talk about this in private." I snapped, "I'm leaving." "Jayce, don't do this!" Kayson begged me as I turned around, "You will regret this forever if you reject her. I know you. You'll never be able to just sit back and watch me with her and do nothing!" "Just find out her name, so I can end this." I ordered and walked out.
