CHAPTER 3 - TO THE HOSPITAL - KAYSON'S POV

1353 Words
I cut the link, and tried to calm down. I had already frightened my mate, I didn't want to make it worse. "Kayson," Jayce linked me back, but I cut him off. I didn't want to talk to him right now. "You drive." I ordered Hally, the pack member who'd pulled up in the car, and I slipped into the back with my still crying mate. I gently brushed her hair from her face. I wanted to look at her gorgeous face again, but she cringed in fear at my touch, and I felt more guilt rip through me. "Please don't be afraid of me." I pleaded as I looked into her stunning blue eyes. "I won't hurt you. I will never hurt you. You have to forgive me. Please don't reject me. I've waited for you for so long." She didn't say anything, so I continued. "I'm Kayson. What's your name?" She frowned and looked away from me. "Mate doesn't like us." Blaze whined. "We ordered her death. Of course, she doesn't like us." "Are you in pain?" I looked down and saw a lot of blood on the front of her chest. Again she didn't speak, and I frowned again. I just wanted to hear her voice, even if it was filled with anger directed, rightfully so, at me. I just held her as we continued to the packs main hospital. We had three as we were the largest and most powerful werewolf pack in our country. My brother and I ruled it together, alternating days between us unless there was a threat of some kind. Once we arrived at the hospital, I carried my mate inside. "Someone get me, TJ" "He's on the second floor, Alpha." Morgan told me, as he looked at my mate in confusion. "I will contact him and have him go to your private suite." "Thank you," I said and walked towards the elevators. "My brother is on his way, let him know where I am." "Yes, sir." Once we were in my private suite, I gently sat my mate down and took a step back, but the second I moved, she launched herself off the bed and tried to run for the door. "Wait!" I snagged her around the waist and lifted her up, while she struggled and screamed. "Please calm down." I pleaded as I placed her back on the bed and held her arms, but she cringed, and I let her go. I'd pushed some of those strange shards into her skin, and hurt her. "I'm sorry. I won't hurt you, but please, don't move. We're trying to help you." I stayed close this time, but didn't touch her again, even though I was longing to have her skin on mine again, while we waited for TJ, a close friend from school, who came in a few minutes later. "Kay," He greeted me as he walked in with a nurse I knew, Sophie. Seeing TJ in his formal clothing was always a laugh. I was so used to my friend, who preferred to wander around in shorts drinking and partying until he'd found his mate, and she'd straightened him out. "So, what's going on?" He asked as he looked from me to my mate. "Who's this? What happened to her?" "This is my mate." I said quickly, "We nearly killed her. You have to help her." "Your mate?" He frowned as he looked at her again, "Why would you kill your mate? That's a hell of a way to greet her." I growled, and he stepped back. "She's a witch. I didn't know she was my mate until she was in the dungeons." "She's the one who did something to Caden?" TJ commented, "You should see him, he keeps trying to leave, he keeps saying he has to protect someone. I'm assuming it's her." "I don't care about Caden right now. Help my damn mate!" "I'll fix her up, don't worry." TJ told me, "We'll need to change her first. Sophie, get her out of that ruined dress and into the hospital gown." TJ pulled the curtain, blocking my mate from view. "What are you doing?" "I'm sure she doesn't want you to see her naked for the first time, while she's covered in blood. Just be patient." "I'll need to remove your clothing." Sophie told my mate as I heard her walk over to her. "Excuse me, young lady, can you hear me?" "Luna," I said firmly. "Forgive me, Alpha." She said nervously, before turning back to my mate, "Luna, I need you to undress." I crossed my arms impatiently from the other side of the curtain, while TJ grabbed some cleaning supplies. "Alpha, I don't think she understands me." "Is she still covered?" "Yes, sir" I walked around the curtain and saw my mate cringing away from the nurse. "Hey, it's okay." I slowly reached out and touched her face, but she just stared at me. "I'm going to take your dress off, but I promise not to look, okay? Do you understand what I'm saying?" She just started at me once more. "I want her head checked." I told TJ who was waiting on the other side of the curtain. "The guards told me she fell down a mountain." "I'll do all the checks. Don't worry, Kay." He said easily, "She's probably just in shock." "Maybe." I agreed, as I reached over and slowly grabbed her dress and started to pull it off, but she screamed and shoved me away, so I quickly let go. "Okay, okay. No one's going to undress you." "Here, I'll sedate her." TJ said as he came around the curtain holding a syringe, but when my mate saw it, she screamed and started trying to get away again. I quickly locked my arms around her and held her in place. "DO IT!" TJ quickly rushed over and injected her, before stepping back, and my mate glared at me as her eyes closed. "I'm sorry. We had to." I gently lifted her placed her on the bed again. "Dress her." I ordered and walked back outside the curtain with TJ. Once my mate was changed, we returned to the other side, and I held her hand, while TJ started removing the shards, but he froze in shock. "What? What's wrong?" "She's already healing." He answered, and I looked down. Her skin was closing. "Sh*t, I've never known a witch to heal like this." "She heals faster than us." TJ lowered his face to examine as he pulled out another shard, and we watched her wound heal in seconds. "That's incredible. If I could duplicate this healing ability, I'll-" "Would you focus!" I shouted and Sophie jumped a little. "Sorry, right." "Doctor, she has some bruising on her chest. I think she had an injury there." Sophie told us. "It was probably from one of the arrows." I told them, my voice low and the guilt intensified again. I pulled my mate's hand to my lips and kissed it. "Silver arrows?" "I guess." I shrugged. "Okay, Sophie, draw blood and have her tested for silver poisoning, and I want her blood type and-" I stopped listening to his instructions and looked at my mate's face. I truly had never seen anyone more beautiful. I didn't deserve such a gorgeous mate. "Do you think she'll reject us because of your scars?" Blaze asked. "I don't know," I answered. "I hope not, but I wouldn't blame her. I can't even stand looking at my body." As Sophie began drawing blood, and TJ returned to removing the shards, she groaned, and we froze. "Shouldn't she be sedated for at least an hour?" I asked. "Yes," TJ answered in shock. "Sedate her again. Her body really is unique, that should have taken you down for an hour. I've never met anyone like her. Are you sure she's a witch? Maybe she's Fae, and they're strong and powerful." I moved her hair and checked her ears, but they weren't pointed. "Not Fae," I told them, “Let's just run the tests.”
