Chapter 1 – The Heroine of This Story
Chapter 1 – The Heroine of This Story
* * *
“Ali! You had better let me borrow your notes. I wouldn’t be able to survive the exam without it.”
Laughter filled our table as one of my friends started her daily rumblings. It’s my sixth month as a first-year high school student, and life brings nothing but wonders to me and my friends.
Peaceful yet bright. I was surrounded by my good comrades, came from a good family, and was at the top of my year. We are all in good health, making my life as perfect as it is.
Besides an exceptionally good brain, I was also gifted with pleasing looks and figures. I was taller than my peers and my body somehow developed faster compared to others. I can’t fathom if it is a blessing or what, but all I can say is that I am happy about all the things that I have in life.
It goes without saying that I kept my head down, playing the role of a good student loved by all. I am strong and competitive, yet those characteristics became good points loved by many.
“Sure. As long as you pay the right price, why not?”
Another peal of heartfelt laughter could be heard from our way. Channel, my dream friend, kept on urging me about my notes while the rest of our close friends threw jokes her way.
Enjoying our lunch breaks like this is honestly the best part of being a student.
“Ali, can I talk to you? I swear it will be fast.”
Well, my high school life would have been truly perfect if not for this tiny little detail. A petite woman intruded on our happy break while wearing the most depressing face. She was obviously crying before she found her way to my current location.
Her reddened eyes and those blushing cheeks of hers could instantly trigger the protective instinct of anyone – especially men.
Lynn Sanders, a student from another class, trembled in fear as I finally lifted my head to look at her. She has band-aids everywhere, making her look like a pitiful dog that has been abused by her owner.
However, it did not reduce the doll-like beauty of the woman. I’m confident to say that I could consider myself a pretty teen, but Lynn is in a completely different league. She could win any beauty poll with a smile on her face. Just her porcelain skin alone would be enough to steal anyone’s eyes.
The number of male students looking her way had always been uncountable and it only served as the best measure of her beauty.
What’s more, besides being petite and a head shorter than me, Lynn has great assets that could be the source of envy for any woman. Those racks of hers scream heavy wherever I look.
“Hey, hi. What can I do for you? Would you like to take a seat?”
For some unknown reason, Lynn’s body shivered like a drenched dog right after I opened my mouth. Fear is evident in her eyes and that scene sent an ominous feeling deep down my bones.
“Ahm. I’ll just talk like this. Anyway, I just want to ask you to please stop bullying me. My wounds and heart hurt like crazy! I know that you are jealous of my relationship with Eren, but, please, just stop. We are now living in a modern society! Why do you have to bind him in a stupid arranged marriage?!...”
It came out of nowhere, so nowhere that I failed to give a decent reaction.
I only know this woman because of her unparalleled beauty and those huge racks. Never in my wildest dreams had I bullied someone, more so to the point that I would give them a wound.
Additionally, this is my first time hearing that my stupid fiancé is in a relationship with another woman. Isn’t she foolish enough to announce their relationship? Even if our engagement was arranged, starting another relationship with someone else could be considered cheating.
Just how thoughtless she is to say it inside the cafeteria, a place where all the students eat their meals!
“…Stop your cruelty and just let us continue our love. I know that all you think about is money, so just look for a dirty old man who would be able to pamper you with his riches.”
A smirk was drawn on my face.
I couldn’t understand a word that this woman was saying, yet I was not an i***t not to notice that she had been openly mocking me. Those unfiltered words and the kind suggestion she gave in the end provoked the hell that had been lying dormant within my soul.
I seriously do not know this woman, but if she wants war, then I’ll give her war.
“Excuse me, Ms. I don’t even know who you are, and I don’t have a damn clue about the bullying that you are talking about. This is my first time ever having an interaction with you. Mind your words, please, since those are all inappropriate.”
I moved away from my seat to have a better conversation with this damsel in distress.
Her one-sided declaration about my fiancé could be handled later, but I would never tolerate how she threw that mud in my face. If she is scheming something, then she’d better do it to someone else, since I’m not the type of person who would surrender without a fight.
My mother taught me that a slap from a b***h should be returned with a punch. Unexpectedly, I am the kind of daughter who closely listens to my mother’s words.
“Kyahh! No more, please. Help! Help!”
However, even before I threw that said punch, the sobbing Lynn fell to the ground and hysterically cried as if she had encountered a serial killer on a wanted list.
I could only give a baffled expression as I stood in a state of trans to the drama that I witnessed.
“Don’t get near her!”
Even before I was able to move from my current location. The man in question finally made his appearance, protecting the sobbing woman on the floor.
As to what drama this fiancé of mine will start, goodness, I don’t even want to think about it.
