Episode 1
GLORIA'S POV "It's over" his voice rang in my head, his cold gaze before my eyes and sending a dagger right through my heart "No!" I cried out as the tears started to slip down my cheeks "Derek" I pleaded taking his hands in mine "Don't do this to me, to us" "Gloria" Derek whispered my name making me ache for him even more, making me want to break every law that says we can't be together starting from this divorce "Gloria!" my sister yelled from downstairs but I could only pay attention to the man in front of me, a billionaire heir with black hair and deep ocean blue eyes, my ex husband and one true love. "Derek!" I said, placing my hands on both sides of his face, feeling his hard jawline with my fingertips "We can still fight, we can still win" "No" Derek said as he shook his head away from my grasp and moved a couple of steps away from me "The divorce is final, it is… Before he could finish his statement, I did not know what came over me before I jumped on him a pressed a hot and desperate kiss on his lips. "Gloria" he groaned my name underneath his breath before wrapping his hands on my body, his hands trailing to my waist and filling me with heat. "Derek" I moaned his name overcome by the sudden pleasure of his lips on mine and his hands sliding through my body "Fight for us" "No!" he said sharply, breaking our kiss again and putting me back on my feet before turning his back to me "I can't" "No!" I yelled back, anger suddenly taking root inside me "you won't…." I said with venom in my throat "because you are nothing but a coward who will do anything to maintain your billionaire status and wealth" "It's getting late" my sister called out to me again and I did not wait for another word from my ex husband before carrying the rest of my things and stepping out of what used to be our bedroom. We were already divorced. I was naive to think that Derek was ever in love with me, ignoring all the warnings that my father gave about him and the entire Barnes family. But no more. I walked out the door without another look at my ex husband as my heart broke with each step I took away from him, away from my home. "I have no other choice" his broken voice came in whispers but I heard it and I was tempted to run back into his arms but I soldiered. "Catherine" I said, shocked to find one of the maids of the Barnes house in tears while holding some of my things "Don't go!" Catherine ran straight to me, hugging me and almost knocking both of us off our feet as she continued to sob in my chest "Get Sylvia something to drink this instant" the cold voice Derek's mother rang out"Seeing as you have nothing better to do. Catherine hurried off and my eyes fell on the other people in the living room. I spotted my sister waiting impatiently for me, then my ex mother-in-law and Sylvia who has always been out for Derek. "What are you waiting for?" Sylvia's hateful voice rang out, glaring at me with her sparkly blue eyes "Get out of here you social climber" "A social climber is better than what you are Sylvia" I shot back, determined to not let her talk to me like that "Going after a man that will never be yours" "You!" she screamed before running towards me and before I knew it, her palm slapped my face so hard, I stumbled back. "How dare you!" my sister cried ran forward but she was blocked by Derek's mom "Get out of my way" my sister spat "Old lady" "Watch your tongue when you talk to me girl" the lady of the Barnes family spoke "Take your sister and get out of my house" "It's okay Hannah" I said as I walked to my sister's side, tired of fighting a losing battle "Let's just go home "Wait!" Derek shouted and began to run towards us. For a moment, I thought that he finally found his senses and was ready to fight. "What do you…." my voice broke as I was too distracted with him standing in front of me, tall and imposing and his scent and…. "You forgot your keys" Derek said, jolting me back to reality as he stretched the keys to the car he had bought me on our first anniversary. "What makes you think we will accept anything from a big disappointment like you?" Hannah asked as she glared at him" "Either this or I'm dropping both of you off" Derek said, ignoring the collective gasp from Sylvia and his mother. He had that look in his eye that said he won't take no for an answer "Fine" I said, taking the keys from him and moving towards my sister "Please, let's just get out of this hell" *** "Something is wrong" Hannah said beside the steering wheel, her hands trembling with fear as she looked at me "I think there is a problem with the …" "Look out!" I yelled with all my lungs as my sister struggled with brakes to no avail and we crashed into the side of the coming truck in the dead of the night. "GLORIA!!!" "HANNAH!!!" We yelled our names as the car summersaulted and landed on the side. The windows cracked sending shards of glass flying everywhere as the car came apart. My vision had already been blurry from all the tears that I had shed for Derek's betrayal and for the pieces of my heart that he shattered with it but now I could not see anything as smoke began to rise from a corner of the car. A glass shard slammed into my hand and I began to bleed with my heart beating rapidly in my chest as I awaited our coming death.
