Putting his son down for a nap wasn’t a chore that Landon minded in the least. He sat in the rocking chair, holding and rocking Robbie, still utterly fascinated by the tiny form of his child. At seven weeks old, Robbie was beginning to outgrow his newborn clothes. There was probably a shopping trip due in the next week to get some bigger clothes. Once Robbie fell asleep, Landon gently placed him in the crib. Landon stood there gazing at him when the unmistakable report of a gunshot went off somewhere in the house. It was followed by a scream that had to be Nina. Landon sprinted for his bedroom and yanked his Glock out of the gun safe. He was halfway to the stairs when he heard the second shot.
