I could feel Ares's eyes on me which made me glance at him at the corner of my eyes and found him staring at me. I smirked at the dumbfounded girl in front of me,"It's a talent of mine." "Unbelievable!" Vandetta mumbled, her eyes were wide opened, "Are you a witch?" "So you've just had s*x no longer than twenty minutes ago and you're here, asking for more s*x?" Ares asked her, raising his brows. "She's lying. I didn't have s*x!" Vandetta said as she shot me a death glare. "Woman, your legs are sore—you were limping, you still have some sweat on your forehead, your dress is creased and your appearance says it all." I said, ignoring the glare she was giving me. "How the f**k can you even conclude all that? I've fixed my dress and I've already wiped all those sweat back in the bathroom—" she cut herself off, realising her mistake. "There we go," I glanced at Ares then back at her, "she did it in the bathroom." "f*****g s*x freak." Ares muttered, disgust clear in his tone. "Who are you? b***h!" She hissed, "Ares is mine! Stay away from him or you'll face my wrath!" "Myself, Alexia Ivanov." I introduced myself with a fake smile. I watched as her eyes widened and she let out a gasp on hearing my name. "Y-you're the cold b-bloo-ded as-sass-in—" Vandetta stuttered in fear. "And you just called me a bitch." "I—" Vandetta was scared. She was trembling in fear. "Do you know what I did to the last person to called me a b***h?" I asked before continuing, not waiting for her reply, "don't worry, you can ask her when you meet her in hell." "Yo-you can't hurt m-me. My f-father will co-come after you." She stuttered, turning on her heels before literally running away making me shake my head in amusement. I turned to see Ares who was staring at me. I raised my brows at him, "what?" "Seriously, how did you know all those things?" He asked, bringing the glass to his lips and took another sip. "By observing." I replied, gulping down the rest of my drink. "Where is your mother?" "Somewhere on earth." I responded with a shrug making him roll his eyes,"Very funny." "It wasn't meant to be funny." I retorted before asking seriously, "Why are you here, Ares? I mean, why did you come today?" "Family," He replied, "I could let them come here alone. I do not trust these people around here—" he cleared his throat, "And I came for the orphanage, as you know, it's a charity event. Then I heard that you were going to be there so I thought why not try my luck?" I rolled my eyes at his last sentence despite knowing it was a joke. It was silent between the two of us for a while until he asked, "are you still in contact with your mom?" I nodded, "I visit her whenever I can. She's married and have a son, a three years old. He's cute." I smiled at the thought of her small little brother, not caring that I was telling him that. "Does he know?" Ares asked, referring to my dad. I nodded and muttered, "Unfortunately." "Why is it unfortunate?" He asked, raising his brows in confusion. "That's a story for another day." I replied with a smile which was definitely fake. "The auction is about to start." He said as he pointed to the stage where some people were gathering. "What's being auctioned?" I asked resulting in a smirk from him, "You'll see." Amanda stood on the stage, in front of the mic and faced the crowd before speaking,"Ladies and gentleman, We thank you for coming here today. This charity event is for the orphanage that me and my husband opened not so long ago. Your help is very appreciated." The crowd erupted in cheers and claps for I don't know what reason. Once they calmed down, Amanda resumed, "A few people volunteered their help. So we'll be auctioning them—I mean those who pays for them will be able to spend a night with those beauties and handsome men." "So they're auctioning women," I stated which made Ares scoffed and add, "and men too." "I'd rather empty my bank on you than wasting a penny on those people." He leaned in and whispered in my ear making me gulp at the proximity. "You're awkwardly direct." My voice came lower than I anticipated. He let out a chuckle, "Isn't that a good thing?" "In a way." I replied, my gaze fixed on the stage. I felt a hand slip through mine making me look up at Ares, "what are you doing?" He didn't reply, instead, he led me near the stage. "Isn't that your step mother?" He asked, pointing to Dana who was standing on the stage, ready to be auctioned. "My sister." I corrected, clenching my jaw at the thought of her being sold. Don't get me wrong, I didn't care whether she was ready to sell her body for a night or two—what I cared about was my family's reputation. "Yeah. what the hell is she doing on stage?" He asked in disbelief.
