Chapter Twenty

436 Words
Fern We were all sent by Baelan to find any signs of Lloyd. I was out searching by the woods, even though everyone else had told me they had searched the area about a hundred times. It doesn't hurt to be sure. I wanted Joseph Kennedy dead, I was glad to help out. More honoured to be honest. Joseph killed my sister when I was mortal. He thought he had killed me too by draining all my blood, but there was still a pulse of life left inside me. Power and poison in his bite was flowing through me, slowly turning me immortal. It wasn't painful. It made me numb, everywhere was numb. I didn't understand what was happening to me. And after a long period of time. It was probably about five days, at least that's how I've always imagined it, I could move again. It started in my fingers, I could flex them. And then my hands could clench and unclench. Then the other hand. Then my arms. And so it continues. I got up and saw my sister next to me. Dead. The thing about Joseph is that he doesn't care who finds his victims. Sometimes he lurks nearby to see the content of horror blazing through your eyes when you find his 'meal'. I couldn't find anything by the woods. The others were right. So I walk down the nearby street. It was a nice street, perfect little houses for a perfect little town. They were unique houses, unique colors to make them stand out. As I gradually found myself at the end of the street, there was one house that looked misplaced in some way. It had the bright colors and everything, but the door was ajar. The flowers along the front of the house looked like they hadn't been watered in a long time, they drooped over themselves. Their petals flopped forward. The grass was long and in desperate need of attention. It needed a good lawn mower to help it out. I stood outside the house for a bit, examining its every detail. Why was it like this? Then someone came out of the house and I quickly hid out of view. The person coming out of the house looked familiar. Although everyone looked familiar to me. They all looked like dinner. But not this guy. His hands were covered in a red substance that I prayed was only tomato ketchup. But this guy was exactly who I was looking for. The guy we all wanted dead. I'd done it. I'd actually done it. I had found Joseph Kennedy.
