Elijah's eyes appeared to bore into my soul, as if he may see each mystery, each fear, each want that I'd ever attempted to stow away. I felt like I was suffocating in their profundities, like I was being pulled beneath by a riptide of emotion.
"What do you need from me?" I rehashed, attempting to keep my voice steady.
Elijah's grin developed more extensive, his eyes glimmering with beguilement. "Goodness, Aurora," he said, his voice moo and imposing. "I think you know precisely what I want."
He took a step closer, his eyes burning with an inward fire that appeared to devour me entirety. I felt like I was softening into his look, like I was being pulled separated by the sheer escalated of his desire.
And at that point, fair as abruptly as he'd showed up, Elijah vanished into lean air.
I was cleared out standing alone in the moonlit gardens, my heart beating in my chest, my faculties reeling from the encounter.
What had fair happened?
And what did Elijah Morano need from me?
I didn't have the answers, but I knew one thing for beyond any doubt: I had to remain absent from Elijah Morano.
Little did I know, that was less demanding said than done.
As I made my way back to the royal residence, I couldn't shake the feeling that Elijah was still observing me, that his eyes were still burning with an inward fire that appeared to devour me whole.
And at that point, fair as I was around to enter the royal residence, I listened a black out whisper in my ear.
"Aurora."
I spun around, but there was no one there.
The whisper appeared to come from all around me, resounding off the dividers of the palace.
"Aurora," the voice whispered once more. "I'll be holding up for you."
My heart skipped a beat as I realized who the voice had a place to.
Elijah Morano.
And he was coming for me.
