Digging my hands in the mud, I frantically try pulling myself back up to the creek’s bank, but it’s no longer there. The bank has fallen into the water. Reaching for anything that is stable my hand finds a root jetting out just above the rushing water. The current is much stronger now, and I can’t fight against it, my legs are being dragged down with the current, my head is only being held above the water by the loose grip I have on the root. “Addison! Give me your other hand.” Looking up I see Aaron again, my body must have been dragged a few feet downstream because he is further away from me now. I watch as Aaron carefully climbs out on an unsteady branch wobbling above the water with his hand outstretched to me. Reaching out to him with my free hand I just feel our fingertips brush
